James stared at the framed photograph of his parents standing outside the castle where they were married nearly thirty years ago. His mum looked like a princess in her beautiful white dress, and his dad looked like a gentleman out of an Austen book. He’d always loved that photo of them. One of his earliest memories was having an identical photo with his bride hanging beside it one day. Now he envisioned Reg by his side.
“Wow,” Reg said as he came out of the bathroom with swirls of steam chasing after him and looked at the photo James was still staring at. “Where was that taken?”
“A castle up in Scotland. They met not far from there and wanted to get married there when Dad finally popped the question. They’ve taken me there every big anniversary. Their thirtieth is coming up, and we were planning to go back.” He trailed off, not sure if that was something Reg would be interested in doing with them.
“I’ve never been to Scotland,” Reg said, his eyes fixed on the photo.
“Would you like to come? I’m sure Sirius and Remus will come. Remus has never come with us, but Sirius has.”
Reg pulled a face.
“Can we at least ditch them if they get too annoying?”
“I’m already planning out a map of all the hiding places we can go,” James laughed.
“Then I’ll go,” Reg said definitively. He tilted his head up and pressed a kiss to James’s lips. “Thank you for inviting me.”
“I would have anyway,” James said, knowing that he would have done so nearer the time or his parents would have.
“Go shower. I don’t want to kiss you in your parents’ bedroom.” Reg winked at him and sauntered off to James’s bedroom.
“REGULUS!!! PUT YOUR TOWEL BACK ON!!! REMUS COVER YOUR EYES!!!!!”
