And honestly, I think this is part of the reason modern au jegulus still works. Regulus pushes James to pay attention to himself.
I think when he started trying to get Regulus’ attention he actually started dressing up a bit because he knew image mattered to regulus.
Anyways I think a lot about image and fashion as a societal construct so I love talking abt how they “appear” to each other especially if they meet when they’re in their 20s or 30s.
