Jacket
Luke Patterson x Reader
Masterlist
Summary: Reggie's sister has always been close with the band. But then, Reggie gets loses a jacket that means alot to her, and someone has to calm her down.
"Reg!" You yell, running out of your house by the beach, after your brother. He glances back at you with a scared expression and ducks behind Alex. You try to go around Alex, who puts an arm out, and you feel arms around your waist pulling you back.
"I told you she would be mad," Alex says, pulling Reggie out from behind him. He tries to hide behind Bobby instead.
"That's an understatement," you say. You slap at the arms that were still holding you back and Luke raises his arms in surrender. Reggie's eyes widen as he looks at Luke.
"Traitor," he hisses.
"No way am I getting on her bad side," Luke says, smiling. You glare at him, and his smile falls.
"C'mon, Y/N. It's not that big of a deal. It's just a jacket," Reggie says. You turn your glare back to your brother. He was referring to the jacket your bestfriend left at your house right before she was in a car accident. She died.
"Just a jacket?!" You ask. He stutters for a second as you take a step towards him.
"I-I know it was your friends jacket, but-"
"But, nothing! That's all I had!" You exclaim. He nods, taking another step back, slipping a bit in the sand.
"Yeah..." he says.
"Where is it?" You ask. He looks at his bandmates for help.
"Y/N, it's-"
"Don't." You snap at Bobby. He takes a step back towards his other three friends, nodding. Reggie lets out a breath.
"Well, I might have, accidentally, lost it..." Reggie says. He puts on a scared smile. You gape at him for a moment.
"What do you mean you lost it?" You ask. Your brother's expression turns sad as he looks at you. You were fuming.
"I'm sorry," he says. You clench your jaw, turning around, not sparring your brother another glance. You go past them, Luke tried to reach out to you, but you shrugged him off. You just start walking, as far away from your house as you could possibly go. Your parents were the last of your worries.
After a minute you hear footsteps running uo to you. Your arms were crossed because of the cool night air. You glance back and see Luke running up to you. You just keep walking.
"Y/N," he says. He slips off his jacket, putting it around you. You couldn't even bring yourself to say a simple 'thanks'. He sighs, grabbing your hand and pulling you to a stop. You don't look up at him. "We'll find it. It's probably still in the lost and found from yesterday." You look uo, blinking back tears as you let out a breath.
"I-I can't lose that jacket, Luke," you say. He nods, taking a step closer to you, putting his hands on your shoulders.
"I know. And we're going to find it."
"T-They hate me. Her family hates me. That damn jacket is all I have of hers. It's all I'm ever going to have of hers," you say. He watches you, his sympathetic look saying enough. A tear slips out of your eye and you quickly wipe it away. He quickly grabs your hand again, pulling you towards a nearby bench. He tugs you down to sit next to him. He wraps his arms around you, one of his hands rested on the back of your head. Eventually you give in, burying your face in the crook of his neck. The hand thst wasn't in your hair rubbed circles on your back.
"Guys!" You hear Alex call after a minute. You pull away from Luke, wiping your cheeks. He kept his eyes on you. You look over at the two boys approaching. You knit your eyebrows together in confusion, looking for your brother.
"Where's Reggie?" Luke asks. Alex lets out a breath looking at Bobby then back at the two of you.
"He went to find the jacket," he tells you. Your eyes widen. Reggie went out by himself to find your jacket?
"Yeah, he seemed really down on himself," Bobby adds. You felt a little bad for making your brother feel that way. He wasn't the brightest of the bunch, but he still had common sense. Well, at least a little. And he cared about his bandmates. And you. The five of you were basically all eachother had. All coming from imperfect situations.
Luke's hand drifted off your back, lightly tracing your arm as he stood up. He looks at you, grabbing your hand. You look up at him, and he smiles nodding at the guys.
"C'mon," he says. You sigh, letting the boy pull you up. Alex smiles, walking besides you as you all start walking in the direction of where Reggie was off to.
Once you walk into the club you see Reggie digging in some bin. You walk over to him, releasing the other boy's hand. You put a hand on the table as Reggie grins, his hands flying out of the bin. Fabric was gripped between his hands. Your eyes widened as he looked at you.
"I found it!" He says. You look up from the jacket, to your brother. He grins at you, happily. You let out a happy breath, throwing your arms around your brother. He happily hugs you back, handing you the jacket when you pull away. "I'm sorry," he says. You smile at him.
"It's alright, Reg." He grins, looking back at the guys. "You're never allowed to touch it again, though," you say. He nods, eyes wide completely serious now. You smile walking back out with the guys.
Alex, Bobby, and Reggie started a conversation that you weren't interested in and you fell behind them. Luke stayed by your side. You peel Luke's jacket off you, handing it to him, smiling softly. He frowns slightly, taking the jacket.
"Thanks, but I've got mine now," you say. He chuckles and nods, looking down at the fabric in his hand. Then he hands it back to you. You give him a confused look.
He simply smiles and shrugs. "It looks better on you anyways."
You bite your lip, smiling. He puts it back around you, letting his arm rest on your shoulders.
No thoughts, just the idea of Reggie going to watch Carlos at his baseball games/practices because he loves his little buddy and wants to support him even though he knows Carlos cant see him

...........................................
Reggie knew his place in the group. He was the funny but lovable dumbass. If you needed a laugh you came to him. He was used to being overlooked and underappreciated. But he knew that his friends didn’t feel that way about him, they were always there for him when he needed it, not that he did; but it was still nice to know that they had his back.
But as the boys, and Reggie, grew older things shifted out of place. At their core they still had similar morals and principles to their personalities, but the trauma that they had developed would become a part of them as well.
Alex was first to endure that kind of trauma; when his parents didn’t react well to him coming out, he was devastated. The guys of course had already known about him being gay for years. They comforted him when he came to band practice the next day crying because of his parents' words. The boys promised him that he always had a family with them, a family that accepted him.
I hear one song from the Julie & The Phantoms soundtrack and I am immediately back to repeatedly watching the show for the next two weeks
