Reinforcers : essential tool in Behaviour therapy ( ABA and VBA)

I was on my way out for some fun and it was time to bring Blu Lu in from her outdoor aviary. Thought I would share the “new” reinforcer of choice for stepping up after I let her out her transport crate. It’s likely she views the can as a potential nest site, but since we just take a peek it doesn’t present other behavioral issues for her. I noticed her reaction to that area one day and took advantage of it as an opportunity to include it in my collection of reinforcers for her behaviors. Your animals body language is a good indicator of what they seek to acquire/engage with. If you can deliver it contingently it can potentially reinforce behavior. #reinforcers #nonfoodreinforcers #secondaryreinforcers #parrottraining #bluethroatedmacaw #macawtraining
Describe Secondary Positive Reinforcers Describe the five kinds of secondary positive reinforcers (I need general definitions/descriptions for each one–see the information beginning at the bottom of page 243) and think of an example of how you believe they can be used in classrooms. Identify the grade level for which you are providing the example. Use APA style formatting Describe Secondary Positive Reinforcers Describe the five kinds of secondary positive reinforcers (I need general definitions/descriptions for each one–see the information beginning at the bottom of page 243) and think of an example of how you believe they can be used in classrooms.

My pup is definitely motivated by food. What if the animals you're trying to train don't respond to food? Don't despair, creating motivation and identifying reinforcers is the topic of this Sunday's live webinar 12 noon. ...the more rapidly an organism learns the more vulnerable it is to adventitious contingencies. The accidental apperance of a reinforcer strengthens any behaviour in progress an brings it under the control of the current stimuli. We call the result superstitious. So far as we know, any species capable of learning from a few reinforcements is subject to superstition, and the consequences are often disastrous. A culture corrects for this defect when it devices statistical procedures which offset the effects of adventitious contingencies and bring behaviour under the control of only those consequences which are functionally related to it

Fruit Snack Treasure Hunts are a great way to teach children to follow an adult point. First, hide a few pieces around the room. Then, tell the child to 'look' and point to where one is hidden. If necessary, to begin, bring the child close to a hidden snack and actually touch the fruit snack with a proximal point. Work up to being able to make that proximal point more and more distal. Once child has mastered this, move to using coordinated eye contact to show the location of the snacks. Of course, this activity assumes the child likes fruit snacks. If not, pick something that they will love to find.
