Denominations are wild.

Jehovah's Witnesses: They say they're not in a cult, but if you mention that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are the same... You're not saved. If you mention life-saving blood transfusions, they're quick to call it out as a sin. If a sin is preventing people from entering God's kingdom, then how do you exactly tell that to someone who's in a life or death scenario?

Hebrew Israelites: The pride of one's ethnicity is championed so much, ministering to other racial groups. If we're called to minister to all nations, then... Why exactly should God refuse to save someone if they're not of the same threads as you are?

Just some food for thought. I'd love to hear from other ex-members who's had their fair share on certain denominations they've been in, and their "none of these words are found in the Bible" experience.

The religious dudes that frequents online forums specifically geared towards women and younger populations is a growing elephant in the room.

They're the same men that aren't okay promiscuity in the streets, but they're alright with the ones in their computers.

And we're to believe that when they tell us that God will smite people who resist their predatory advances (sexual and non-sexual), they're still the good guys? That's hard to believe.

They're okay with spending a good portion of their day telling women that they have too much makeup, they're not dressed in covering their hair, and their outfits are too promiscuous. Yet, they're alright with spending time on the porn accounts trying to preach to them?

And we're supposed to believe that these dudes should totally have a right to vote in women's health, and the future of nations?

The way they approach young people and women with sexual comments is a gross phenomenon. They're happy to make comments about how someone is hot, but forbid you tell them that it's the opposite of how Christ calls men to act. Then they'll tell you you're sinning by refusing to act moderate as a person.

That's a freaking yikes, dawg.

What I don’t want misconveyed

I usually get this in reverse- it happens everywhere i go when i tell people I’m an atheist. Whoever it is may feel attacked when i answer the question that is always asked: why don’t you believe in god/ a god??? What I always try to get across is that my experiences in life have brought me to my conclusions. What sometimes gets across instead is a sense that im trying to prove them wrong.

Let me make it clear, I couldn’t care less what someone else believes in. To each their own. So when you ask why not and i tell you, im not trying to make you abandon your lifestyle and beliefs. I’m only explaining my own lack of belief.

However, since somehow there’s usually some miscommunication, I always find that my disbelief is attacked. This usually results in people trying to tell me that I’ll come around eventually at some point. Some will simply invite me to a service with them and if i have time I’ll come if they dont come off in an uppity way about it. While open to attending, I’m always weary of this and any conversations following because most have this mission to convert me and win me over-prove me wrong about my beliefs or rather lack there of.

Let me also make it clear that I don’t bash someone’s religion or at least I don’t do so intentionally when I explain myself. So why is it that others feel the need to bible thump me and convert me when their efforts are pointless?

I don't know what anyone expects to get out of actually debating religion.

Especially when it's two people apart of the same religion who are just debating intricacies of theology. Like. Who the fuck has time for that, go outside and feed the poor or some shit like Jesus told you to.

Dilemma of whether to capitalise god/God in an essay or not… I usually don't and usually get away with this, but I'm guessing the tutor who got mad at me for making a joke about catholics would not approve of the argument I used last year to justify not capitalising 'god'.

I'm so sick of people having religious debates online or in person it's so stupid. If people have their own opinion about God then fine whatever but it's completely immature and unnecessary on both ends to argue against the other side and say who is right and who is wrong.  It's so annoying to see or hear things from people that are against any type of religion as if they're trying to challenge anyone that does have a religion and it's annoying of the people that do have a religion to shove all the elements of what they practice at someone else.  Atleast the people that do have a religion usually have something positive to share, versus anyone objecting to everything in the universe, but either way it's getting ridiculous.  Live your life the way you want to but don't try to force others out of their own lives.
