“We will disrupt through witness, remembrance, and the courtship of the imagination. We will escort children past the darkest warrens of the forest. We will construct kites that stay aloft in the rain. We will champion what is beautiful, and so finally make our opponents irrelevant."
– Owen Daniels in "Apocalypse” from the book Resistance by Barry Lopez

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng // The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller // The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
Divine remembrance is a transformative act. Your eyes begin to see differently, you move differently, you speak differently. You become infused with hope, courage and clarity.
“I never seen Aaliyah get mad. She was always so relaxed and reserved. I remember one time at an awards show, me and her and Tim went and got these outfits. I ain’t dressed like somebody else since junior high school, but we all got these Pony burgundy outfits. We was so mad cause we felt like she’s gonna win, and she didn’t get anything! And she was like, It’s cool. But us, we was like, Nah, man, that One in a Million album was a classic! But she was like, I’m just happy to be nominated. I never seen her go out of character. She was always sweet and caring and compassionate. Just a good person.” - Missy Elliott
Liverpool St Georges Hall by Tony Via Flickr: A cascade of poppies in remembrance of the many fallen
Their country called, they answered it, with no regard to self.
They picked up arms, they trudged through hell, regardless of their health.
They fought together, they fought through sleep, to keep the future bright.
For those who went, and came back home, they knew they had done right.
Many left and did not return, they gave and sacrificed.
Their lives, their homes and futures, they paid a heavy price.
So that we may live, with freedom now, and never have to fear.
The torture and repression, of evil through future years.
