I've been having a lot of thoughts about Renger lately...

Like

He's all about honor

And eventually he figures that, hey, what's more honorable than protecting your planet? So he joins the military. But then it gets to a point where he's disgusted by these people, because killing mutants? Just for existing? Is not honorable.

Did his lusus fight him, sweep after sweep, just to teach him to be deadly? Or was it so his survival was assured? So that he had the tools to protect those who couldn't protect themselves?

And in struggling to find a meaning behind what's truly honorable and what his purpose in life is, he finds himself angry at his father for the first time for making their last battle be life or death. He thought he was wearing his pelt as a badge of honor, a testament of survival. But no, he's just a son who misses his wolf dad and wants him around 🥺

(Also, I think I'll make it canon that he talks to the pelt when no one's around,,, Poor not-so-little snow hermit,,,)
