a little kyosane thing i made a little while ago! didn't know where else to share it so here it is :3 (can be platonic or romantic)

i think this duo is so underrated, there was so much potential for so many interesting interactions T T. they seem very different on the surface but looking deeper they're shockingly similar, the abusive-dad havers if u will

they both take on very protective roles in their respective families as well as in the demon slayer corps as both the eldest sibling and a hashira. despite this the ways in which they carry out protecting differs, like how sanemi's solution is to isolate while kyojuro's is to be close to those he's defending

i know a lot of people give sanemi flak for his stunt with nezuko at tanjiro's trial, but also forget that kyojuro was totally onboard with executing the kamados without even a chance of explaining themselves (along with gyomei, tengen, iguro, and maybe muichiro). though not as impulsive as sanemi with nezuko, both were quick to decide that she was a threat (and therefore must be eliminated)

both have extremely strong beliefs, sometimes to their detriment as this leads to black and white thinking without much room for nuance (but they both come around eventually). though i personally head cannon that kyo's insistence of rule following (and his other quirks) is because he's neurodivergent of some sort

also they're just really funny together. like when sanemi tried punching kyojuro when he came in his father's stead in a hashira meeting, and he was just like "thanks for the encouragement, i will do my best to become a hashira :D!" they match each other's freak

saneren secret relationship mostly because sanemi said he didn’t really want to come out to everyone yet (and who gave gives two fucks when you’re constantly on the brink of death),, but one day he’s given up hiding it, plus some of the hashira (tengen.) are getting suspicious, so he tells kyojuro that he can tell them and that sanemi doesn’t care how he does it, just that he has to get it done with

so kyojuro’s amazing, not-embarrassing-at-all plan was, after one of their missions, after kagaya has dismissed them, kyojuro says his usual goodbyes, and then shouts to sanemi, “I LOVE YOU!!!”

and everyone’s just staring because what the fuck, sanemi’s growing increasingly red, and kagaya, who was at the doorway on his way out, smiles something both pleasant and amused and congratulates them

kyojuro thanks him whilst everyone else crowds around sanemi with questions that make him want to disintegrate and die (he lectures kyojuro about it later, but he’s met with a confused, “i thought you said i could do anything, apologies!”)
