Merry meet in hall or glade, in joy and worth thy bonds be made.
You know something? I really thought this time would be different. I really thought I could figure it out and have everything planned... But it doesn’t work like that.
Stepping in on everyone else's problems doesn't fix mine. Helping them... does it change the endless void inside? I feel snowflakes on my face in the middle of summer.
I see the rain and think what a beautiful day. Is it depression if the world is still beautiful? If the snow on my face makes me smile because at least I'm still alive?
Is it fair to myself or to my family to really give up? I could change my mind in a matter of seconds, but just like the pain I felt... I would be giving everyone whose life I touched a little bit of pain.
What about them? What about the father who would lose his baby? What about the grandparents who would lose their shining star? What about the little cousins who just wanted to talk? What about the older cousins, who always said they would be there? What about the students who will never be able to forget what happened? What about me, what happens if I change my mind?
My teacher, in Astronomy, was the first one to notice something was off. I want to laugh about it and say it's just a joke. I want to smile and play pretend. But he knew better and I cannot even fathom how he could tell.
How do you say 'thank you' when you wanted to slip behind the curtains and finally let someone else take the wheel?
Chapter Two: Friday, after school, Katsuki Bakugou
Damn, she wants to know, and she asked ME. Should I tell her? No, if she finds out, it’ll be from Aizawa or All Might, they’re the only ones who saw me. And she wouldn’t believe it coming from me anyways.
“You should tell her.” All Might said, he always thinks he knows what I’m thinking.
“Tell who what?” I cross my arms, I’m not heartless, but I can deal with being cold.
“Tell Akari that you saved her, tell Akari that the only reason we kept fighting after we had you was that you wouldn’t leave without her.” All Might smiled, which meant he was gonna tease me, “It’s very romantic.”
“She was being hurt and I was able to change that, I was doing my job, same as you.” I had been telling myself that was it, for the past three months.
“A job that you could’ve skipped and stayed out of the hospital from.”
I winced, he wasn’t wrong, taking Akari meant going straight for most of All for One’s insane traps. It landed me in the hospital, but I got her out. Getting in was the easy part, getting out with her was harder, and every exit was built so she could never escape easily, “True, but being a hero means risking your life, and she needed someone to take a chance on saving her.”
“Uh-huh, tell her and you’ll stop beating up the rest of your classmates.”
Whatever, she would just hate me, I already remind her of All for One, and knowing that the person who saved her is me would hurt her even more.
-Akari Aizawa-
I didn’t end up sleeping or resting at all, I kept having panic attacks and not remembering what happened afterward. But at least now someone should be coming to tell me that I can finally go and workout, distract myself and try to figure out who else was there when I was saved. Three months and nobody will tell me anything, but from the rumours I heard, most of Class 1-A was there and they don’t like me. Plus Bakugou acts like he kinda wished everyone was dead, from what I can tell he would never do anything to help someone unless it was morally unethical for him, I think. Aizawa walked in, with Bakugou? “Hey.” I sat up, to Bakugou’s discomfort.
“You should be laying down.” He is so serious all the time.
“Bakugou take her to her dorm.” Aizawa was glaring at him, but if he was angry with him, why is he making me deal with him?
“Why?” We asked simultaneously, Bakugou looked irked, but I’m the one who should be uncomfortable, right?
“I’m not in the mood for either of you, so it’s either Bakugou talks to you about y-”
“Fine, I’ll walk her.” He didn’t want Uncle to finish that sentence.
“Wait, what’s the other option?” I didn’t really want to be that close to him, he scared me.
Bakugou and Uncle shared a look, “The other option was something I can’t give to you, I thought I could but he changed his mind.”
“Ugh, whatever, fine, let’s go.” I got up quickly, only letting the inertia hit me when I got to the door, I stumbled, and Bakugou’s hand shot out to catch me. I slapped it away, I didn’t need help from someone so cruel to his classmates. I passed the fridge and decided that today was a good day to eat something, besides if I throw up, I don’t have to deal with the people. “I’m getting something to eat.” I grabbed a couple of strawberries and a hard-boiled egg.
“If you’re gonna eat something, at least eat something that’ll fill you up.” Bakugou went to the stove and turned it on, grabbing ingredients and bowls, and looked like he was about to run a cooking show.
“I don’t need anything else, really.”
-Katsuki Bakugou-
Cooking will put me in a better mood, and ever since I found out how little she ate from the small fry, it started eating at me that I couldn’t even make sure she learned how to eat a healthy amount of food.
“Nonsense, you need to eat.” I guided her to the table and went back to cooking.
-45 minutes later-
“This was really good, thank you, Bakugou.” She looked better, but she still needed rest, good food is only part of a good recovery.
Kirishima and the other guys walked in, “Hey there Bakugou, where’ve you been?”
“Get out of the kitchen,” I called, they always make a huge mess when they try to cook.
“Fine, come talk to me later, I want to tell you something,” Kirishima said, passing us to go upstairs.
“You should go talk to him.” Akari looked down at her plate, “I should clean up, right? You made it, I can clean it all up.”
She went to clean the dishes, “No, that’s my job, go rest.” I followed her.
“But I want to do it.”
“I said no.”
“But I want to.”
“I don’t care, you need some rest, you had a very traumatic day and you should sleep it off.”
“It happens all the time, I have little blackouts every day, I’m fine, really.
At that my resolve strengthened, she suffered so much and because of it she can’t live a normal life and she still wants to do everything for everyone else, “NO, GO TO BED.”
“I can’t!” Tears were streaming down her face, the pain she suffered…she thinks it was her fault.
“It wasn’t your fault,” I whispered it, but she heard, and she looked at me like I was the only person there, but it lasted only for a second and then we were normal, nothing had changed and she was going to fight until she had another episode or she did the dishes, “Fine.” I made sure she heard it that time.
“Okay….thank you, now go have fun with your friends.” She looked so…dejected.
-In Kirishima’s dorm-
I walked in to see Kirishima, and Kaminari sprawled on the floor, so I took a spot on the bed.
“How was your date with the new girl?” Kaminari asked, his eyes narrowed.
“It wasn’t a date-”
“You were totally on a date.” Kirishima interrupted.
` “I was supposed to make sure she was all right, that’s all.” I looked away, I was supposed to take her to her room, but she didn’t eat anything at all today…
“Uh-huh, so…thoughts?” Kaminari asked, his eyes distant.
“On?” Kirishima yawned.
“My chances with the new girl.”
Kirishima laughed, “None, you would get too tongue-tied and make a fool of yourself.”
“Ouch, that bites, Kirishima.” Kaminari laughed.
“What’s your opinion Bakugou?”
“Huh?” I cleared my throat, “Oh, I think that just by looking at her, she doesn’t have a bad figure, she has good posture and she has appealing facial features, she doesn’t know how to tell people no, and she has a very hard time interacting with people she views as scary.” When I finished, both of them seemed surprised.
“Jeez, you’ve known her for five days and you act like you know everything about her.” Kaminari chides.
It takes a lot for me to not retort that I’ve known her a lot longer than five days, but instead I just get up, “Well, it’s late, and I’m tired, so, I’ll see you guys later.”
“Night,” they chorused.
-Akari Aizawa-
I finished the dishes pretty early, so I was in bed when Bakugou got back from hanging out with his friends. It makes me a little bit jealous, that even someone so mean could have more friends than me, but I’ve only been out of the hospital for a month. I rubbed my wrist, I could still feel the restraints, it was bad enough I was blindfolded, but I also had to be restrained or I would’ve ended up hurting someone. Apparently, when I blacked out, I was also attacking anyone who came close to me, which makes me wonder if maybe the person who saved me came to visit and I accidentally hurt them. Mr. Aizawa assured me that I didn’t hurt the person who saved me, but when he said that he always looked at the bed to my left. I kinda remember that someone was there, but I never saw their face. All I know is that they were badly injured, and they were let out a month before I was. I looked over at the clock, it read 8:oo, frick way past a reasonable time to sleep, oh well.
-Saturday, early morning-
I woke up around three in the morning, finally, a bit of regularity. I grabbed a towel and my clothes. I opened the door to find Bakugou also leaving his room, shirtless. I blushed, it was really early, wait, “What’re you doing up so early?”
This time a light shade of crimson flashed across his face, “I, uh,” He looked around, “I have a headache, I was gonna get something to help it, what about you?”
“Oh,” I lifted my towel, “I was gonna take a shower, um see you later, I guess?”
I took a breath and as he turned to go get the medicine, I saw that his back had a scar that flashed across it, going from his left shoulder to his right hip, it looked almost as if someone drew wings and then smudged it. I bit the inside of my lip, it was just like what I had drawn in therapy, a girl being carried in someone’s arms, they had wings drawn, one was draped across the savior’s back and the other was on fire. I shook my head, noticing that Bakugou’s scar really did look like something from a dream. I reached out, forgetting that he was not only older but also kinda terrifying. I touched the edge of his scar, feeling the muscle underneath twitch. Entranced by the way the skin melded together, I traced the edges. “What do you think you’re doing?” His voice was so deep, not threatening, but with a warning tone.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
Her hand froze, her fingers cold. She whipped her hand away, but the trail she made lingered, a trail of ice. “I’m so so so sorry, I-I didn’t mean to, please forgive me.” I turned around, she was bowing down, hugging herself, it was something she did when she thought that All for One cared, or that she knew something was gonna happen.
“It just surprised me, don’t do it again.” She should never have to beg for forgiveness when she hasn’t done anything wrong.
“Oh…okay, sorry again.” She brushed past me, leaving the hallway feeling empty.
-Akari Aizawa-
I’m so stupid, of course, that was weird, normal people don’t do stuff like that, and just because he was nice this time, doesn’t mean he’ll be nice next time. I went to the bathroom, turned on the cold water, I wasn’t allowed to have hot showers, and even though the rules are different here, I don’t want to upset anyone, more than I already have.
-Right before school-
With a nice cold shower, some calming dawn meditation, and some breakfast behind me, I’m ready for my hero course class. A one-on-one class strengthening my body and mind, and then normal classes teaching everything I missed when I was with him. I took a deep breath and sat down in the chair closest to the door to go outside, I grabbed my sketchbook and started drawing. I think Bakugou went back to bed, but he’s probably up now. That scar was a mix of beautiful and scary, I wonder what caused it, or who. I looked up from my sketching and saw some other people coming into the main lobby, I gathered my bags and went to my training room.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
I couldn’t fall asleep, even after I took something to help. I was still trying to come to terms with the scar itself, and now she knows it’s there, but she doesn't know how or why, no one does, except for All Might and Aizawa.
-After school, in the school lobby-
Half of our class was staring out the window, “What is she doing out there?” Deku asked Uraraka.
“I’m not sure, but she looks so…weird.”
“What are they talking about?” Kirishima sat down across from me, I shrugged.
“Jeez, what is that freak doing now?” Monoma asked sarcastically.
“Bakugou, it’s Miss Aizawa,” Kirishima said softly, he glanced back, a little worry in his eyes. I got up, I wasn’t planning on staying long anyways. It’s just helpful to have a reason to not be here.
-The front courtyard-
“Shouldn’t you be in the lobby?” She got up, arms crossed, she was so formal, as if she was afraid of me.
“Eh, the lobby was getting crowded, and…well, I prefer fresh air to sweaty freshmen.” I meant it as a joke, but she took a step back nonetheless.
“Oh, okay?” She turned around and started walking away.
This time, I noticed a scar, it ran from the back of her right shoulder to her wrist, and it looked like stitches. Ragged, careless, and haphazard, I clenched my fists, they didn’t care, as long as she was alive….
“Are you sure you’re okay?” She had turned around, she was much closer, she was reaching for my fist, the knuckles were turning white, when she saw where my gaze was she stopped, her hand returned to her side.
-Akari Aizawa-
He was strong, he was terrifying, he was beautiful...he was hurt, and I was making it worse. He was in so much pain, and every time I do anything, it just makes it worse…
“Are you okay?” His hands slammed into his pockets
I swayed dangerously, I could feel another episode coming and I just wanted to collapse, just let everything fall away, “I-I need to get back to my room.” I shook it off, I couldn't break in front of him, so I turned to go back to the dorms.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
She was gonna have another episode, and wanted to be alone for it? “Wait.” She stopped for just a second, “Let me come with you.”
“To my room?” She laughed.
“That’s not what I meant-”
“Yeah, I know,” She looked at the ground, I could see her trying not to panic.
“Come on then,” I started towards the dorms, keeping my hands in my pockets.
“When you try to control everything, you enjoy nothing. Sometimes, you just need to relax, breathe, let go and live in the moment."
- My Step-mom literally just said this to me, because of school.
Chapter Three: July 20, Thursday, Izuku Midoriya, after school
“Wait, you have a girlfriend?” Uraraka gasped when she saw Kioko walking towards me, she had blown a kiss.
Not to me as always, she did that to annoy and embarrass me, and most of the time it’s just harmless, “No,” I sighed, trying not to blush, “She’s my sister.” I grimaced, waiting for the awful remarks about her.
“Why did she….?” Uraraka was confused, and Kioko was caught in some animatic conversation with someone on her phone.
“Blow a kiss? She does that to annoy me, it’s like her way of reminding me of all my mistakes.” I turned, she didn’t have to babysit today so she would want to walk home with me, “But, I’ll talk to you later?”
“So…Zez is gonna stay with us?” Kioko had finally met up with us, “Hold on Mom,” She faced us, “Ooh, is this your girlfriend? Cute, Mom wants me to tell you that I’m walking alone today,” She turned to Uraraka, “Have fun with your boy-toy.” She left, continuing her conversation with Mom.
“Sorry about her.” Uraraka was bright red with…..embarrassment?
“No, it’s fine….” We stood there for a minute going over what just happened, “Sorry, I didn’t mean- I mean I do- I mean, sorry.”
My phone started ringing, when I looked, it was Kio, “Yes?” I shot an annoyed look at Uraraka.
“Put me on speaker, please,” I did, “Kay, Izu is too wimpy to ask you out so yeah, if you like him just go on a date already.” She hung up.
“What?”
“She’s crazy, she-” Ochaco turned away, shoulders slumped, “I-I mean I d-do like you.”
She perked up, spun around to face me, and kissed my cheek, once very light, then she walked away, “Call me, okay?” Her parents picked her up.
“O-okay.”
-Katsuki Bakugou-
“Did I seriously walk out just to see….that? Come on, weak. If you’re gonna ask someone out, don’t leave them with a little peck and a hopeful call.” Kirishima said blatantly like he hasn’t been egging Deku on all year about it.
“Leave them missing what almost happened.” Kirishima looked shocked at what I had said. “What?”
“Since when were you the love expert?” Sparky came up behind us, draping his arms over our shoulders.
I shrugged him off, “I’m not, I’m also not wimpy enough to get my little sister to ask someone out for me.” Deku turned.
“I-I didn’t ask her to do that.” His face was beet red, good.
“Correction: I’m not stupid enough to let my sister know who I like.”
“Who do you like?” A combination of Sparky, Kirishima, Deku, and Pinky cried out.
-Izuku Midoriya-
Kacchan turned a light shade of red, he was glaring at the ground, trying to walk faster and avoid the question.
“Well? Who is it?” Mina asked, stepping in front of Kacchan, he stepped around her.
“She doesn’t like me so it doesn’t matter.” It sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than us.
“Who?” Mina was practically in his face, leaning so close it was betting against fate that she would trip.
Bakugou checked his phone and grimaced, “She’s burning the candle at both ends.”
“Who?” Mina kept raising her voice.
“Leave it alone.” He sidestepped her and just left, ignoring the rest of everyone’s questions.
-Kioko Midoriya-
I hated my brother, but I’m glad that he was able to finally get a girlfriend. And Zez is coming to Japan next year, she’s going to stay with us and she’ll probably end up as a third-year, but as long as she’s here….she’ll be my back-up. Mom had finished filling me in on all the details, and now I have to call her.
“Zez?” I had stopped in my tracks, Zez was right there, with her whole family.
“Kioko!” She tackle-hugged me, forcing all air out of my lungs.
“Yo-you’re crushing me.”
“Zezaria! Let go, show some decorum.” Her dad, a huge business model, is terrible. He used to be a drunk, and he hated me.
“Sorry, dad.” She let go and I could see the tell-tale sign of problems at home, she couldn’t stop fingering her little charm bracelet.
“What’re you doing here?” I couldn’t contain my excitement.
“Mom wanted to see where I’d be living and check out the school, but I guess it’s your last day?” She looked past me, to someone behind me.
“Yeah, come on, I can pick up Akemi and we can get ice cream?” It was a question for her parents, and plans for us.
“Isn’t that Akemi’s super-model hot brother?” She was pointing to Bakugou, who was trying to get home without answering anyone’s questions.
“He’s not even cute, Zez-”
“So I can have him?” She loved joking about Bakugou but she knows that if she did, we couldn’t be friends.
“He’s all yours.” We laughed, but now they were almost here, Bakugou ploughing through everything and everyone.
“Is she in our grade?” Ashido, trying to get in front of Bakugou and failing.
“Do we know her?” Kirishima, looking very confused.
“Can I have her number?” Kaminari, looking very out of place.
“Kioko?” My brother, looked apologetic and then angry as he turned on me.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
Everything came to a standstill, Kioko met my gaze and I wanted to blast everyone’s head off. I shouldn’t have said anything. She’s hopefully not going to know anything about this.
“Why are you torturing Bakugou?” Kioko asked, a hint of disgust in her voice.
“I’m not-”
“We’re trying to find out who he likes.” Pinky interrupted Deku.
With this information, a grin spread across Kio’s face, a description of cruelty, she glanced at her friend and came to stand in front of me, “Easy, it’s the one person he should hate, but acts so gentle with.”
“But he’s not gentle with anyone?” Kirishima said, glancing curiously at me.
“Yes he is, you just have to look at it from his view,” She came right under me, “See the people around him from his view. Izu reminds him of times when he wasn’t strong enough. Looking at it like this, he’s really just a very calculating person.”
“Calculating?” I tried to make it a joke, and laugh it off, but it came out a lot darker.
Kiko moved away, closer to her friend, “Ye-yeah, you never do something without trying to think it through.”
Pinky and Sparky just laughed, “That’s hilarious, Bakugou? Thinking anything through?” They burst into laughter.
“Oh shut it.” I turned and left, I’m surprised I even stayed that long, most of the time they piss me off too much, and I walk away.
“Hey, Bakugou, is it?” The man standing next to Kioko’s friend called.
I glanced over my shoulder, he didn’t look all that powerful so I kept walking. Only to have Kioko and her friend pop up next to me.
“Is Bakugou your first name or last name?” The girl had her hair styled to match Kioko’s.
After a moment Ki said, “Last, but most people call everyone by their last name, not first.”
“Even if you’re friends?” The girl wrapped an arm around Kioko’s waist, pulling in slightly.
“Yeah, first names are more for lovers and families.” A soft blush spread through her face.
“I wouldn’t mind being his lover.” She stage-whispered, and I tensed.
-Kioko Midoriya-
Bakugou was not amused by Zezaria, if anything he wanted her to walk away, far away. Zez gripped my side, not in a mean way, I think she was trying to be nice, but it squeezed my ribs. Her acrylic blue nails made crescents on the skin.
“I don’t think he’s your type Zez.” I thought she knew that she could never like him, for me.
“What do you mean? He’s blonde, tall, and hot-headed, he’s perfect.” Zaria pulled me closer, too close for me to be comfortable.
“I am right here, if you want to talk about me, do it to my face.” Bakugou was not happy with her words, which didn’t make sense as they would be perfect together.
Zez let go to step right in front of Bakugou, “I would but the things I say might make you want to blow my face off.” She smiled, pecked him on the cheek, and ran back to her parents, “Call me!” I didn’t know if that was meant for Bakugou or me.
“So sorry….about that.” I sighed, I really wasn’t sure what all that had been about.
“Kem and you are going for ice cream today?” Bakugou didn’t even turn around to see her go, his shoulders relaxed and he looked calmer.
“Yeah, she’s been begging me to take her.” I started walking, if we were going to be able to go to Kemi’s favorite place, we needed to hurry, I had placed my order before it closed, but they only held orders one hour after closing.
-At Kemi’s School-
“Big brother!” Kemi jumped into Bakugou’s arms, he swung her around twice before setting her down.
“Hey there Akemi.” He put his forehead down to hers, “How was school?”
“It was really fun, and we need to get ice cream, do you want to come?” She kissed his forehead and pulled him towards the route we normally took for ice cream.
He looked at me, a hint of apology in his eyes, “If it’s okay with Kioko.”
-Katsuki Bakugou-
“Come on, we’re gonna be late, and they’ll eat all our ice cream!” Fake enthusiasm drenched her voice.
Akemi phased in and out of sight, seemingly teleporting from place to place, Kiko jogging along with her. I walked along with them until all the running made Kemi tired, then I carried her to the last block and all the way back home, she had white cream covering her mouth. When we got home, Kemi started on her homework while Kioko talked to my parents about Kem’s sugar intake. We were moving into the next year, and I never had much to do after school but, since Akemi came, I’ve never had a free moment. Kio finished and sat out on the porch, talking to her friend on the phone, she had a heated moment then hung up. I went outside to ask if she was okay. “Don’t. Talk to me.” She put her hand up, tears were pricking at her eyes.
“Fine, then I won’t talk to you.” I sat on the railing, “So my little sister’s babysitter has this friend, her friend did something really weird today and then I’m guessing they fought about it, so the babysitter probably feels bad and she doesn’t wanna talk to me but judging that since she hasn’t left yet she probably wants to talk about it.”
She sighed and rolled her eyes at me, a smirk creeping on her, “Your friend sounds kinda weird.”
“Don’t let her hear you, she’ll kill me for insinuating that we’re friends.” I shuddered, sixth grade still gave me nightmares.
She glared at me, “Hmm, flambe sounds more like it.” She lit her forefinger on fire, a small flame that flared before going out.
I gulped, she would go through with it too, “But last I heard she went to reformatory school in the states.” The same group of girls from before came around the corner tittering.
“I didn’t go to a reformatory school, Bunny.” She spat, fire lighting her fingers.
“What did you just call me?” The smaller girl asked.
“Nevermind.” Her fire went out, she grabbed her stuff and pushed me aside when I tried to stop her.
“Ko? You didn’t say good bye…” Kem opened the door, she didn’t like strangers, and the bigger girl was wrapping an arm around Kioko.
“Go inside, cupcake.” She was firm, so I pushed her inside, giving Kiko one last look.
-Kioko Midoriya-
He wanted me to cry for help? No, I would never ask him for help again. We stepped into an alley, and I knew I was in trouble. I backed up as far as I could, but the Inari kept coming, and I had no place to run. She grabbed me with a vise-like grip, pulling me close, and then punching me. I felt the pain of a broken nose, and then another blow to the stomach. I was bleeding, but none of them stopped, continuing to batter me until I couldn’t move. I lay there alone in the dark. It reminded me of the States, people would mug you with a beating on the street, here I was beaten because I was better than them. It was late and Mom was calling me, I let it go to voicemail, Dad and Izu tried too.
*I threw us into the flames*
At Bakugou’s ringtone I got up. I hated worrying everyone, so I called Mom, “I’m fine. stop calling me.” I hated how coarse my voice sounded.
I was about to hang up when I heard Bakugou’s voice, “Where are you?” I could hear someone crying in the background and Izuku was mad at Katsuki.
“Why isn’t Akemi asleep? And why do you have my mom’s phone?” I checked the time, I must’ve fallen asleep, it was almost midnight.
“She was asleep until your mother came over crying because she couldn’t reach you.” The phone switched hands, and Zuku’s voice came through, “Next time you decide to hang out with some girls, call first.” He had no idea.
“Whatever, I’ll be there in ten, love you, see you soon.” I hung up, Zuku had passed the phone to someone else but I didn’t know who.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
“Love you, see you soon.” She left my house at five with the girls, even if she got a beat down she should’ve been able to get home by at least nine. She should’ve answered her cell, and she can’t blame Kemi for being woken up by a hysterical woman and her annoying son.
“Who did she leave with again?” Deku asked for the third time, he was pacing back and forth, wearing a stupid All Might shirt.
“How should I know?” I did know, but I wanted revenge before he got all up in it.
“They were here, they picked her up, that’s how you should know.” His face was turning red, he was actually mad for once.
“Come on Kem-cake, back to bed.” I picked her up, her little unicorn onesie tear-stained.
“Is Kioko gonna be okay?” She was phasing, and I just needed her to go to sleep.
“She’s fine, probably just took a nap somewhere and forgot to tell her mommy and daddy.” I smiled, “No reason to worry, okay?”
“Okie.” She yawned and I tucked her in.
We sat in silence, the only sounds coming from my mother trying to comfort Mrs.Midoriya until Kioko came in, a black eye and broken nose, her shirt ripped and torn, cuts on her shins and arms, “I’m here.” Her voice was hoarse.
“Go clean up, Katsuki, Izuku, make sure she’s okay.” Mom shooed us out, Mrs.Midoriya had started crying again, so Mom was trying to comfort her.
We walked in silence behind her and when she stepped inside she slammed the door shut, not aggressively just enough to tell us she didn’t want to answer our questions. That didn’t stop me from pushing the door open, or stop Deku from opening his mouth, “What the hell happened?”
“Nothing. Katsu, can you grab me a shirt from Kemi’s room?” Kio turned on the water, splashing her face as I walked away to grab her a shirt.
-Kioko Midoriya-
My nose throbbed, I was gonna have to put it back in place. Izu was talking but I blocked him out, scrubbing the caked blood off of my arms before gingerly taking off my shirt, wincing as it pulled at the scabbing bruises. Since when did I call him Katsu? What did that heathen do to me? What did-
-Izuku Midoriya-
She was crying, full on sobbing as she attempted to scrub herself clean, but she either didn’t notice or didn’t care. I grabbed the bandages from Mrs. Bakugou’s cabinet, wrapping Kio’s wounds and stilling her hands. “Hey, Twinkle Toes, no more tears, okay?” I swiped away her tears and it’s like we were back in sixth grade, her broken body covered in her own blood, her mind in its own world and pure fear breaking through her tears.
“Yo-you haven’t called me Twinkle Toes since that day.” She mumbled, wiping away her own tears and somehow managing to smear more blood on her face.
“You look the same.” My throat was closing up, so many regrets from that day. “But you’ve always been the baby sister, so you’re Twinkle Toes, even if you didn’t manage to wriggle out of this one, kiddo.”
-Kioko Midoriya-
I leaned forward into a hug, no arms, just my head on my brother’s shoulder, before he pulled me into a real hug, rocking me as I cried, stroking my hair and muttering as usual. It felt like that stupid game had never happened, and we were still friends. “Put on a shirt, kiddo.” Came Bakugou’s voice, he saw the same thing we did, it was that day all over again, except this time, Kacchan was helping me.
“Not your kiddo, Bakugou.” My normally sharp voice was dulled by the hoarseness, and the tears.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
“Good, I don’t want another little sister.” She looked so vulnerable, a part of me wanted to join the hug, or take her from Deku. But the larger part knows I can’t, I can’t touch her. Grabbing her hand earlier was a mistake.
“Yeah, but if you’re gay for my brother here than you can’t really avoid it now can you?”
-Kioko Midoriya-
Izu pushed me away, lightly, not jarring me as I looked for Katsu’s reaction. His brain shut off. Radio silence as he stared at me, “I’m not gay. And this is getting weird, so I’m gonna go tell Mom you’re not gonna die so we can leave.” And he walked away, glancing at me before closing the door.
After I stood and finished cleaning up his brain must’ve reconnected with his body as he looked at me before grabbing my waist and pulling me close, he leaned close, “Sorry, sweetheart, but the girl I like is a firecracker.” My breath hitched in my throat, it’s not me. Right?

It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. I’ll be searching the reblogs to find people to send asks to!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write!!
My Snippets:
WIP 1: Love Letters
- “Yep, you are very silly.” He took out a charcoal pencil, tapping the tip of Lia’s nose with it. Lia screeched, smacking his hand away and turning to pout.
WIP 34: Untitled (Denki x OC)
- "When you walk past that park near your apartment now. Do you think about me?" I shot at my new ex, Katsuki.
WIP 29: Keys
- Lying just out of sight was some shining thing, its exact nature unclear from our vantage point. I reached down and grabbed it, holding it up for Elijah to see.
WIP 23: The Dragon-Touched Girl (w/ @fakegingerrights)
- It was getting late, the sun was setting and Ariadne was traveling with new people. A black dragonborn, an aasimar, and Alistair, she couldn’t help but look over her shoulder a couple times and scratch at her right forearm.
WIP 2: Fire On Fire
- After I stood and finished cleaning up his brain must’ve reconnected with his body as he looked at me before grabbing my waist and pulling me close, he leaned close, “Sorry, sweetheart, but the girl I like is a firecracker.” My breath hitched in my throat, it’s not me. Right?
“Akari Aizawa?” The principal asked, knowing before even looking away from his laptop that it was me.
“Yep.” I chirped.
“It’s the third time today, what are we going to do with you?”
“I don’t know why I have to be here, all I did was pass out.”
“Who helped you?”
“Don’t know.”
“No, we can’t let you off campus yet.” Whatever.
“Okay, well this has been nice and all, but I’m gonna go now.”
“Actually, can you run an errand for me?”
“Sure, what?”
“Take this to Katsuki Bakugou.” He gives me a folder that says:
Do not open
“Okay. Bye.” I left, heading to Class 1-A.
-6th period-
“I’m looking for a Bakugou?” I say bored, looking down the hall.
“Bakugou, go talk.” I turn.
“N-” He’s already there, bored and intimidating.
“You gonna give me the paper or sit there?” His voice…
“Please,” I say sarcastically, walking farther into the hall.
“What do you want?” He takes a step in my direction. I feel my shoulders tense up, he takes a half-step back, in fear?
“Here, Nezu told me to give it to ya.” I push the folder at him and walk away, blushing.
-Tuesday, Lunch-
“Wow, no more than two episodes, you’re doing better,” Nezu said.
“Yeah, well, whatever, I wanted to ask you something,” I say, Nezu looks more alert.
“Yes?”
“Can I move into Class 1-A? You can put cameras or bodyguards or whatever on me, but please?” I look at the floor embarrassed.
“Yes, I think that will be a great idea, with restrictions.”
“‘Course, but when do I move in?”
“Today, I will notify the students and make arrangements from there.” Shoot, he’s gonna tell them to keep an eye on me.
I groan, “Okay.”
6th period, Mr. Aizawa
“A student will be joining your class.” Nezu waited for the students to calm down.
“Oh!! I can’t wait, this is so exciting!” Mina Ashido piped.
“I know right?” Kyouka Jirou said.
“Settle down,” I replied in a stern tone.
“When will be the best time for her to move in?”
“Today, I guess.” Ochako Uraraka, said glumly.
“Perfect, I’ll let her know.”
7th period, Akari Aizawa
“You can move in today. However, if I hear a single complaint, you are coming back to the care center, okay?”
“Yep, I’ll go pack, bye!” I ran outdoor and sprinted to my old room.
8th period, Aizawa’s room
I grabbed my clothes and shoved them into the blue suitcase on my bed, I grabbed the rest of my stuff, toiletries, posters, the stuff that made my room mine. I went to the 1-A dormitory.
After school, 1-A dorms
“Oh! Sorry I didn’t know where you wanted me to go.” I stood and bowed in greeting.
“Are you the new girl?” I nod slowly, back to a standing position, “Perfect!, do you have a room already?” I shake my head trying to remember this girl’s name, “Well then, I’ll show you to your room, right this way.”
After school, Aizawa’s new dorm room
“Wait is- is this MY room?” I asked in awe.
“Yep, all yours.” Some other kids came with us.
“Awesome.” I tripped on a rug.
“Are you okay?” A brown-haired girl asked me.
“Yeah I’m fine,” I stand up, ”Um, could I settle in on my own?”
“Sure thing, come on guys.” They left and closed the door behind them.
I sat down on the bed, it was comfy, it had baby blue covers and a pillow that said ‘Plus Ultra!’ in ginormous red and yellow letters. I started unpacking.
-Wednesday, 6:oo P.M.-
*knock knock*
“Who is it?” I said, half-asleep.
“It’s me, Momo Yaoyorozu.”
“Come in, it’s unlocked.” She opened the door.
“Oh okay, that’s bright.” The lights from outside shined in my face, so I turned away.
“That’s the new girl, Akari Aizawa.” I sighed.
“Wow, she’s really pretty.” Huh.
“I mean she looks a lot like Mr.Aizawa, but yeah, she’s cute.” I looked up at my uncle’s name, knives hidden in my hand.
“Wait, do you mean, Shouta?” I asked.
“Yeah our teacher, you look like him.” I saw that it was the brown-haired girl from before.
I got up, still hiding the knives, walked to the hall, and sprinted away.
“WAIT! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?” She yelled after me.
7:3o P.M., on the lawns
I threw one, two, three knives at the ground.
Why, why did I have to freak out like that? Can’t I just fit in? Wait, what’s that noise?
All of a sudden, an explosion flew past my head, barely missing me and singeing my black hair.
“What the heck Kacchan?” I see Midoriya and Bakugou fighting, Bakugou shooting explosions at Midoriya, all while Midoriya is just trying to land a hit.
“Would you shut up already?” Bakugou lands a hit on MIdoriya’s back, sending him across the lawn.
Bakugou was stalking towards Midoriya, who was writhing in pain, I wanted to do something, but I couldn’t move, it was too similar, too much like what All for One did to me.
“Knock it off.” Mr. Aizawa walked outside, his eraser quirk flaring, leaving Katsuki and Midoriya almost evenly matched, “Midoriya, inside, Bakugou, come here.”
“Yes, Mr. Aizawa.” Came Midoriya’s reply.
“What do you want?” Bakugou’s shirt was ripped up, pieces on the ground, and he looked so angry, but sad too.
“I want you to make a good impression on our transfer student.” Aizawa pointed to me.
Shoot, they know I’m out here. I’m gonna get sent back, I’m gonna be forced back into the chains, they’re gonna-
“Come on out, Akari.”
“Sorry, I didn’t know anyone else was out here, and then I kinda-”
“It’s fine, Bakugou, please show MIss Aizawa around.”
“NO! Really, I don’t need to be shown around I can find my room on my own, promise.”
“Whatever.” Bakugou left, the back of his shirt was almost destroyed, leaving his very toned muscles visible, and a strange scar.
“Sorry again.” I walked towards the dorm entrance, passing Bakugou, my head down, tears pricking my eyes, as soon as I turned the corner I ran to my dorm room.
-8:oo P.M.
“Hey.” His low voice startled me, his eyes were pinned to the floor, his fists clenched, his hair was wet, and a white towel wrapped around his shoulders.
I was still sitting outside my dorm room door, too scared to go in and too arrogant to leave. This time I kept my head down because tears were flowing, I couldn’t stop them, they just kept coming.
He slammed his fist against the wall, trying to make me acknowledge him, “Hey, you’re blocking my door, move it.”
I pulled my legs to my chest, freeing the space he needed to get into his room.
He didn’t move, he crouched down and put an arm on the wall to steady himself, “It’s late, go to bed.” When I didn’t move he punched the door again, “Are you deaf? Go to bed!” This time, the punch was close enough to my head I flinched back, I froze, my body going completely still, I risked looking into his eyes, but they weren’t angry, just tired. “Are you okay?”
At the simple question, I got up turned around, and went inside, I wasn’t okay, I would never be okay or safe until All for One paid. I heard Bakugou’s door close, and all was quiet. I waited maybe half an hour and went outside again. I looked back up at the dorms, only one room had the lights off, it was the one across from mine, Bakugou’s. I could see movement in the window, it looked like he was punching something, I smiled, I had a punching bag in my room too. I took a deep breath of the night air and went to collect my knives, but when I looked at the spot I had thrown them, they weren’t there. I looked at Aizawa’s window, but I couldn’t see anything, so I went back to my room and blacked out.
-Thursday, early morning-
I woke up on the floor next to my door, blankets were strewn about the room, and my room looked like the aftermath of a hurricane. Well, this isn’t the worst thing that’s come from my black outs.
A very loud bull horn sounded in the dorm room lobby, but my head was already killing me so I went to Aizawa’s room instead, I knocked on the door, “Do you have any pain meds?”
“They’re in the kitchen, only take one,” Aizawa said, sleep evident in his voice, but I understood, the quirks that run in our family give the users constant headaches.
As I was walking back to my room to get dressed, Tenya Iida walked up to me, “As class president, it is my sole responsibility to formally welcome you to the class.” He cleared his throat and saluted, “Welcome to class 1-A, Miss Aizawa.”
“Too much talking, too late in the day, try me again at three a.m., now I need to shower, so see you.”
“Oh, we have to do morning work-outs.” Tsuyu Asui said.
“I have a different routine, check the fridge.” I haven’t even had breakfast yet, leave me alone.
“Yep, she does, she wakes up at 3:oo, showers for 15 minutes, meditates for half an hour, then eats a breakfast of an egg sandwich and fruit, then does her hero courses, skips lunch and does her normal classes, then she works out for three hours and eats a slightly bigger dinner.” Minora Mineta took a breath, “She then does knife throwing for 15 minutes and falls asleep around 7:3o.”
Everyone looked at Mineta in a mix of awe and disgust. I was blushing from embarrassment, but I couldn’t say anything, because I would look stupid saying it. I took a deep breath about to say something or attempt to at least-
“Memorizing someone’s entire routine is creepy, small fry.” He said it so calmly, but you could see how his eyes were pinned to Mineta in the most threatening way.
“No it’s not-” He didn’t even get the chance to explain himself before he had a bruise forming on the left side of his head.
Everyone took a step back, Bakugou had punched Mineta, not all that hard, but…he hit him, he leaned down to Mineta, “If you ever claim that what you try isn’t creepy again, I will make sure blood spills.”
I couldn’t help it, the tears started trailing down my cheek, I never thought that memorizing what other people do was creepy, but I wasn’t even around very many other people up until recently.
“Hey, are you okay?” Izuku Midoriya, had a small bruise forming on his arm.
At this Bakugou turned around, noticing that he was still crouched down, he shot up, brushed himself down, and cleared his throat, “I’m sorry.” It was so low only Midoriya and I could hear it, but he left before I could respond.
I grabbed a banana and went back to my room, I needed to change. I’m sorry, Mineta. I didn’t mean to get you hurt. I didn’t mean to make Bakugou even more upset. I’m so so sorry, everyone. I changed into my altered UA uniform, with two slits in the back of my shirt, no jacket, and the pants were just shorts.
I walked out of the safety of my room and into the outside world, to see All for One. It’s just the panic, not him, not him, not him, please anything but him.
-8:oo A.M., Katsuki Bakugou-
Damn small fry, he doesn’t deserve to know anything about her. Damn stupid Deku, trying to- No, damn me, for scaring her, when I looked back, I could exactly what she saw. All for One coming after her for the smallest things, small as she couldn’t reach something because she was too short. The things I saw when the League kidnapped me…they showed me videos of her, being tortured because All for One couldn’t get her quirk. I took a deep breath, letting the small things get to me could make me lose focus. I opened my eyes, going to the door when I heard her voice, crying out for mercy, the same way she did in the videos, the same way she did when Shigaraki grabbed her, the same way she did in the hospital…I opened the door walking towards the sound.
“Please, anything but him.” She was on the ground, her eyes white, ethereal wings sprouted from her back, if she was steady she would’ve been terrifying, but now she just looked broken, like someone had taken her spirit. She looked around and saw me, except she wasn’t seeing, her eyes were rolled into the back of her head, “Go away, please, leave me alone, don’t hurt me, please.”
At the last word, my resolve broke, I couldn’t leave her again, “It’s okay, he’s not here, calm down,” I kneeled next to her, this was awkward but the only thing able to break her out of the trance, I put my arms around her, pulling her close to me, the way I saw Aizawa do that night. It surprised me how small she was, just looking at her you would think she would be fine, but she was raised on barely anything, I’m surprised she can even hold herself up…
-8:15, Akari Aizawa-
Please, no. I felt a warmth surround me, smelling of caramel, and very strong. I could still see All for One unleashing his insane minions on me any time I did anything even remotely wrong. I froze. Sometimes he would do this too, so I would give him my quirk, so I would give up my being.
-Katsuki Bakugou-
She tensed up, but didn’t stop crying, she needed something to wake her up…but I don’t want to leave her like this, she’s in so much pain…
“Please…” She kept repeating that word, but it’s exactly what has happened every day since she came back I guess, they told me she wouldn’t be in our class, or even allowed to come to UA, they lied. My grip tightened, they told me they would keep her out of danger, and instead, they put her in the one class that deals with her captors weekly.
“Stop, please.” She was still frozen, but I loosened my grip, maybe…
-Akari Aizawa-
I woke up in Mr. Aizawa’s room, laying on my back, Bakugou sitting on the bed, Aizawa sitting in the chair across from me. They were talking about….me, and why I was in UA?
I tried to sit up, Bakugou jumped, and almost shoved me back into the bed, “Lay down.” He didn’t meet my eyes, only looking at Aizawa, who nodded slightly.
His tone was so grim, it reminded me of the day I was rescued, it’s still fuzzy but I remember someone with a really deep voice who was yelling at everyone and smelled like caramel, he carried me to Mr. Aizawa. He just felt safe, and right now, safe is what I wanted, “Will you tell me who saved me that day? You were there, right? You must’ve seen who it was, right?” Bakugou tensed up, he looked almost scared…
“Aizawa?” He nodded, and Bakugou left.
“Now will you tell me who it was?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“The person you think saved you would rather not have you know.”
“Again, why not?”
“He…has reasons that he hasn’t even explained to me, but you need rest. Stay, I’ll be back after school.”
