Fun facts I learned from David, my landlord’s repair guy:

It is highly impossible for a sock to get sucked down a pump in a top open washer, and yet somehow that was the reason he had to come fix our washer.

When you lose a sock in the dryer, it’s still in the dryer, it’s just been sucked through the felts and is now living behind those little air holes looking at the rest of the laundry and longing to be rejoined with its mate.

Gas stoves/ovens smell worse when it’s hot and having a running ceiling fan or something else circulating cold air makes the smell go away.

If you smell gas and don’t see a spark on your burners, try lighting them with a lighter before assuming there’s a gas leak. They might just need to be cleaned.

Regularly turning on the garbage disposal to break up any piece of food that could potentially clog a pipe is a must because if you don’t, your dishwasher will fill up with sewage and then push more sewage up through your sink.

There’s a little switch thing on the bottom of most garbage disposals that helps unclog them. This was a two minute fix.

Taking the bottom plate out of the oven and watching the oven preheat when the gas catches the flame is actually very mesmerizing and terrifying at the same time. Do not do this unless you are a repairman specifically testing to make sure a gas oven is working.

Door Repair = Chainsaw.

Asked my landlord to have a repair guy come look at my front door because the sill is rotting away. 

Dude comes by. Doesn’t introduce himself or answer my questions, just asks what’s wrong with the door so I point to the great big splintery and rotten length of wood and he just ... proceeds to ignore me and the fact I’m speaking and doesn’t answer questions.

Then he gets up and randomly leaves ... texts saying he’ll be back. I say cool, let me know when you’re on the way, I have errands. He doesn’t, just shows up ... now ... for some reason .... he’s got a chainsaw and he’s chopping up shit in the backyard.

If I get murdered, it was this guy.
