Can anyone tell me if my Gecko is a male or female, I have had him for 9 years and was told when I got him he was male, so for 9 years he has been..well a he.

But lately some things have made me question that, and I'm pretty sure after some research he is actually a she but I don't know if I'm just crazy. Please help

hi tumblr I need reptile help

okay so i am getting a Sinaloan milk snake soon, my first ever reptile, within the next two days and I got the tank today and set it up. I have a 10 gallon tank currently (20x10x10 approximately) (its a baby and I plan to upgrade once it gets bigger) and I can NOT get it to the right temperature

to my understanding, Sinaloan milk snakes require 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit on their hot side and 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit on their cool side.

using a temperature gun, the cool side is staying around 75-76 degrees and the hot side is only staying 77-78. both of those readings match the thermometers in the cage. however, the thermostat probe on the hot side is reading only 73-74 degrees. I currently have the thermostat for the mat programmed to 85 degrees.

for the life of me I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong?? the instructions said that it was possible for the thermostat to take up to 6 hours to read accurately, but its been around 8. I've watched so many videos trying to figure it out. I've tried moving the location of the heating mat (tried both side and bottom heating), adjusting the location of my light, adjusting the location of the probe, adjusting the temperature of my room overall, unplugging the mat from the thermostat, reprogramming the thermostat, etc etc etc.

my equipment includes a zoo med 10 gallon heating mat, reptitemp digital thermostat and a 14" reptisun T5 ho with a 15 watt 12 inch bulb which is placed on top of the enclosure.

(yes I know I'm missing one of the hides I need, Im gonna get that tmr :p)

I need some snake help!

helloooo reptile community! About a month and a half ago-ish I got a baby boa constrictor. I didn’t make any sort of post about him (despite my excitement) because I genuinely didn’t know if he’d make it. He came from a non reputable breeder, who happens to be my uncle. My uncle acquired around 10 boa constrictors (I’m not sure if any of them are true red tailed boas) of various morphs, from a guy who could unfortunately no longer take care of them. The female that gave birth to my little guy was already gravid by the time my uncle acquired them.

the pervious owner, to my knowledge, had proper enclosures for them. The snakes all range from about 3ft to 6ft. My uncle is now keeping them all in 40ish gallon bins, with a couple bins housing two snakes. No heating element accept an occasional heat pad under the bin, as far as I’ve seen.

my guy was born at the very end of July, and he only has 3 siblings. Which is not something that is exactly cause for concern, because you know how it goes. As far as I’m aware he’s a red tailed boa x jungle boa mix. I’m not sure if jungle boa is a morph? Or a different species? Anyway, he didn’t eat for my uncle for about two months. He’s just about 5 months old now, and still looks a bit skinny (to me, at least)

He definitely looks a bit beefier at this angle, but you can still see a bit of where his skin seems loose. He’s only shed once, and not in my possession.

He’s definitely still a bit triangular in shape, and you can see a little skin wrinkle near his head in that second picture

he has a great appetite now! He reliably eats every time I feed him. He gets fed every 6 - 7 days and has no head wobble, no trouble striking (he bites the pinkie sideways most times, but he gets it down eventually lol), and seems to just have a good appetite overall.

he’s stronger and feels more sturdy now than when I got him. He doesn’t feel limp anymore and is starting to wrap around his food when he strikes. He’s about 16 inches long at 5 months old.

Info dump aside, should I keep feeding him as I have been? He’s eating pinkie mice and seems like he starts to get hungry after 5 - 6 days after eating. I don’t exactly want to pump him full of food since that could be equally as bad as starving. With me he has proper overhead heating, substrate, and humidity gauges so that I can keep it between 50% - 60%. Is there anything different that I should be doing? Other than being a bit underweight, he seems fine! (Two of his siblings have since died under my uncle’s care, so I must be doing at least a few things right)

Okay Petblr, I need some ideas.

My Leos have nearly outgrown their tanks & will be moving up to 40 gallons this month which will leave me with 2 empty 10 gallon terrariums. I want to use at least one of them so I'm looking for ideas for a pet that can happily live in it! General internet searches aren't quite helping so I'd love some ideas from you guys (also if you could link a care sheet for your suggested animal that would be super helpful!)

Hey could I get advice from or be directed to someone experienced with ball pythons? My Udon has recently changed houses and first few days she was fine but recently she's been staying up past her bed time, slithering around the cage well past noon until she just. Falls asleep in the middle of her cage, not even in any of her hides. I tried giving her more hides, modifying humidty a bit, changing her set up, etc, and I'm not sure why she's so upset with her enclosure especially since she's appeared fine before and I've also recently increased her rat size so she shouldn't be hungry.

Maybe this new house is a little too hot for her? I maintain a warm and cool balance as recomended but recently the cooler side has been a little higher, around 82-85 fahrenheit, if that's the problem is there any recommendations on how I can cool her tank??? I can't move her again and I thought it would be good because my other room use to be much colder and this house is much warmer, but if it's not good then it might be a constant thing I have to battle against. I don't know what's wrong with her but it's making me really stressed and I could use any advice

Ok this is the second jute lizard ladder we have owned. It doesnt matter how many times I sterilize them, carefully dry them out, and re-place them, they all continue to develop this white powdery mildew all over. I suspect that this mildew is what caused Pretzel to get a staph infection. What the FUCK is up with this! Has anyone else had issues with these?? Help???

set up for a juvenile crested gecko ! he's gonna be about 11 grams or maybe a little more since information on him was updated like a month ago,, im ordering him from pangea and the sex is actually not known bc too Small

im unsure if this is Too Crowded or Not Enough cover for hiding ? i also have a hanging coconut hide but i dont have a suction cup or magnet to hang it yet oof,,

any tips or advice is welcome Please,,

humidity is pretty easy here in Florida but not sure about my college dorm so i also ordered some sphagnum moss to put around the tank to boost that if needed,,

Crested gecko help!!!

I've never had issues with my gecko before he's a sweet little boy but recently he's started noticeably licking his bits a lot and biting his own tail I can't find any helpful information about this I'm assuming he's getting super horny and either trying to mate with his own tail or just plain fight it he's NEVER shown aggression in the years I've had him and I'm worried his gonna damage his tail and stress himself out (he looks rather distressed while he does this) also there's no stuck shed on his tail and his health seems fine
