What is blood for a vampire?
That’s a tricky question. Some vampires have preferences which can alter their view of blood in general, some vampires don’t really have preferences, as long as they are well fed they are satisfied so opinions can vary. In resume, one can either appreciate like a good wine, even deify it or simply as a mean of survival.
Yet, for a vampire blood isn’t regular food like humans know, they are addicted to it. Why? It strengthens them, which bring some sort of pleasurable illusion, which can be described as “a moment of total bliss”,”euphoria” or even a more “sexual” sensation.
For humans, it’s awful, metallic and dense(in most cases). For a vampire, it has a whole new perspective and it all depends on who they are feeding on.
Anything and everything can alter upon someone's blood. To place in an easier way lets put it like this:
- The younger the person is, the sweeter the blood. From 5-23 it’s a near “candy” like, 24-38 its a more suave sweetness, 39-56 the sweetness starts to loosen and other tastes take a balance with it, 60-[...] sweetness it’s not as noticeable; (P.S: Usually “veteran” vampires don’t drink from toddlers or babies because it’s so sweet it's nauseating.)
- Bad habits also reflect on it, a person who smokes makes it taste “dry”, a person who drinks too much can nauseate the vampire (someone who isn’t a drinker but had some alcohol differ in this scenario. In this case it bring a “light-headed” sensation.), drug users can cause the same collateral side effects of the specific drug he/she uses (Prescription Drug Abuse included);
-The younger the person the lighter the blood, above 30 the “body” of the blood starts to dense, in other words, the “Viscosity” changes ;
- “Good” people are better than “bad” people. Why? A person who’s considered a good one tends to not stress too much, his open-minded.While a bad person, like a criminal, narcissist, or greedy person are full of stress, insecure in a way or another. It alters the body’s chemistry which, obviously, alter the blood. The vampire will experience their emotions, love, guilt, anger, sadness, happiness etc...
- Sick people cannot spread its disease to a vampire, BUT, it can certainly make the blood have an "unpleasant” taste and sensation. It all depends on the disease in question. A common cold can turn it tasteless, leprosy can make it taste “foul”, any type of infection makes it bitter and so on;
- Some types of blood resemblance fruits, specific drinks, spices and sometimes food;
-Animal blood can suffice the vampire’s need, but it won’t have the same effects. Usually, the need to feed again will come twice as quickly if compared to human’s blood and three times tasteless;
Your state of mind can alter your blood like this:
- High Dopamine = “Light-Head Sensation, Happiness, Euphoria, Enlightenment, Rewarding like sensation”
- Low Dopamine = “Heavy-Heart Sensation, Anxiety, Depression”
-Hight Serotonin = “Alert, Sensation of well-being, hunger”
- Low Serotonin = “ Headache Sensation, sadness, irritated”
- High Adrenaline and Noradrenaline = “Extreme Euphoria, alert”
-High Oxytocin = “Expand Sexual Drive”
Obs: This can answer why some vampires prefer to scare their victims, it makes the blood more “addictive”, adrenaline gives you strength and a sensation of euphoria and alert. It also explains why other vampires prefer a more “romantic” method, seduction makes the level of oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin rise, bringing a sexual like drive, well being and euphoria.
- It’s believed that when someone gives the blood willingly the vampire has access to its memories and even add the person’s skills or knowledge to himself/herself; *Doesn’t always happen.
- Vampires CAN drink each other blood, BUT the collateral effects can vary from: Excruciating headaches, full-stomach sensation, burning sensation, tingling or numbness, chills, nausea, coughing, sore throat or itchy gums;
Might write more about it. But for now, this is it. Reblog or send/leave a message with your feedback, critics, and opinions. :D I appreciate it.
