We all know how strong Snape is. But I don't think emotionally that strong, despite his Occlumency. And now I'm just theorizing, but what would happen if he could get the Resurrection Stone?! Not the happiest ask, but I was thinking since a long time and just couldn't hold myself back anymore. He would break if he could see Lily again and imagine with Dumbledore too?

Mmh I genuinely think he'd never touch that. First of all Severus respects magic and has a very good understanding of the dangers of it thanks to his love of the Dark Arts. He'd know it wouldn't really be her. He'd be tempted tho... put the stone on his desk when he's an adult and he'd store it away immediately but I think he'd be struck in place mid-movement by a voice in his head whispering Lily's name.

But I think the mere idea of seeing her again would absolutely tear his heart open and unleash a torrent of pain and self-hatred that he's not capable of handling. Also even if he misses her so much he'd be TERRIFIED of what she'd say to him. And all of this isn't enough to balance the perks of seeing her face again.

He knows he's not strong enough to handle some of his emotions which is why he's been occluding from a young age. So I believe the mental wall would hold, even if it takes a big effort from him at the moment. Then he'd remove the stone from himself completely.

Same with Dumbledore.

But a post first-war Snape, striken with grief would do it I think. Out of despair, love and his deep need for self-punishment. Not sure he'd survive it. Well depending on what Lily would say.

"lily and the marauders were never there"

i saw this post on instagram, but couldn't find it on tumblr later (if you know who wrote it lmk so i can give credit) but it was this interesting theory about the ressurection stone and i wanted to share it here.

so the post talked about how all the people who were "brought back" by the resurrection stone are described as looking odd and different from when they were alive. and after the second brother from the tale of the three brothers sees his fiancee, he kills himself to be with her. in a similar way, when harry walks to his death, he speaks to lily, james, remus and sirius (all described as looking odd) and they tell him that dying is painless, quick, and that they're proud of him for doing what he's about to do. it's weird coming from his mother and father, who sacrificed themselves for his life, and sirius and remus, who loved him like their son, of course. they all kind of died for him, so why are they so okay with him walking to his own death?

the theory described in the post was that those people weren't actually lily, james, sirius and remus, and the brother's fiancee wasn't actually his fiancee. if you remember in the tale of the three brothers, death's goal is to kill them all, something it does at the end. so what if those weren't their loved ones, what if those were some kind of clones death sent just to make more people die?

fruther on, the post talks about dumbledore. at one point he had all three deathly hollows, so there's a theory that he acutally is death. that would make sense because, as we all know, he wanted harry to die. (he didn't want to end harry's life, just to kill the part of voldemort's soul living in him for the greater good)

but what i want to add on to this story, is something interesting i thought of earlier today. when i was doing research for my post about the deathly hollows, i read that dumbledore wanted to use the resurrection stone to bring back his sister and see her again, but for some reason, the stone didn't work for him. he left it as a ring. this would make so much sense because if he is death, of course the stone wouldn't work in his hands.

It all adds back to the Hallows and Horcruxes.

THE WAND THE CLOAK

He meets death as an old friend...

He was determined to do this.He walked with a bit of a limp, a mission injury that no amount of magic ever really healed.

“Lumos” the end of his wand illuminated breaking a path through the dark and stingy forest.

He found the spot and with a slightly shaking hand Harry dug tired fingers into the dirt, the tips of his fingers found what he was looking for. He pulled the small stone up and looked at it in the flood of moonlight coming through the trees. Harry told his family he hadn’t decided who, on his last days he wanted to see. His parents again, or Molly and Arthur, Sirius, Remus or Dumbledore. In that moment though he knew, clearer then anything.

“Tom Riddle” he said clearly into the crisp evening air.

The air shifted around him, the first thing he noticed was a hand, curling into itself and slowly being lifted to a pair of thin, taught lips.

“Hello, old friend” Harry barely breathed.

Tom looked him up and down and with a slight laugh responded

“Look at you, old, broken, tired. Look at me, good as new” Tom said with a tip of his head.

“Sure I am old but I have lived, I am broken because I’ve fought and I am tired because I have loved, Tom” Harry spoke quietly.

There was a long growing silence and Tom’s face slowly changed. He seemed to devour, really absorb the words.

“What does it feel like?...to love?” Tom said looking up into the moonlit sky.

Harry thought for a moment

“Well I loved my friends, and my mentor, those loves were the kind you follow and cherish. I loved my parents whom I don’t remember, that kind of love aches. I loved Sirius and Remus, that love was full of hope. Ginny made me believe in building, blinding love, then she gave me babies and I didn’t know you could love that selflessly, wanting nothing in return. Then I was shown a type of love that I don’t think I could have ever been capable of myself, the ability to love someone enough to put them first and hurt yourself. That brings us to my final love, the kind of love that forgives and builds a life together, despite all else.”

Tom seemed to be holding his breath.

“You gave me all of that, sure it was terrible and horrible things were done in the process, but if my life was different I may not have found all this love. I just needed you to know that.” Harry said taking a step forward.

“Love conquers all I see, so long Harry” Tom said quietly

“So long Tom” Harry turned and left the forest behind.

He walked through the grounds, down the road and apparated, landing in his home, with all his loved ones.

Harry died peacefully.
