The past forty-eight hours have been full of so much love and excitement about Of Silver Blood’s return that we are truly overwhelmed by it all. We never anticipated to receive so much love from not only old members but new prospects as well — and for that we are grateful! With all that being said, we are proud to announce that we will be having NINETEEN characters returning from the first batch of skeletons! We still have a few that are still pending as we have reached out personally to each of our old members, but this is the number we have at this time. You will find the complete list below the cut to see who is returning!

NOTE: We are currently working on the first batch character teasers that should start releasing within the next few days, so please be on the look out for them as we continue to work hard behind the scenes.

Why do players lose all their slots when they fully leave the board (by official drops, not removal)? Retaining them would no doubt allow for healthier and happier RP’ing - if people needed to step back/go on holiday/etc, they’d be able to do so without the fear of losing all their hard work! Good to support the players and foster a great environment for everyone <3

How long can these players retain these slots? If they disappear from the board for three years, are they still allowed to come back and fill their 5+ slots? Where would we keep track of this? What reasons are “good enough” to leave and still keep their character slots? Remember that we do not make exceptions or judgments based on extenuating circumstances. We want things simple and fair across the board.A player only needs to post once a month to maintain membership at ‘Souls, which should be simple enough in most situations (even if this means writing a dreaded phone post), if they are worried about losing all their slots. If a player is unable to do even that, then they might not be ready to pick up and post actively with multiple characters upon their return. Having slots at all is still a fairly new change and is much more flexible and lenient towards players than prior rules regarding multiple characters. :O

I joined a few times yeearrrsss back when I was, admittedly, quite far below the minimum age. I don't remember 100% who I played, etc., but I'm a bit intimidated at the concept of joining (legitimately this time!) given my brief and fairly cringeworthy newbie experiences. :")

Believe it or not, a whole lot of people who still play here have the same “cringeworthy” writing in their archives too, staff included. ;) ‘Souls has gone through a lot in its sixteen years as a game, and many rules and features may not be what you remember. Potential returning player! I was wondering if the 'SA could offer advice for a veteran member... I feel like a lot of character concepts I have bouncing around my head are very stale and "have been done before." I would love to rejoin 'Souls but I feel like there isn't nothing new and engaging I could bring to the table, plot-wise or character-wise. Do you have any suggestions?

You should just write what you think is fun! What character idea do you most want to play?All characters have their roots in some archetype or another, and honestly, in a game as old as ‘Souls, a lot of ideas have been done before. But character doesn’t have to be super unique to be engaging – you writing that character makes it “new and engaging!” :)

The power of a writer who loves what they’re writing makes a character more interesting than any gimmick. Even if a character has a personality or past that you feel has been “done before,” if you like writing about that character, it will show! And since roleplaying is collaborative, you might be surprised with the twists and turns your plots may take; your basic, “been done before” plot idea will always be unique as long as you’re collaborating with another player.In short: don’t worry about it, and just do what you want to do! :)

I made a an account and a character on Souls a couple of years ago, but had to drop it because of real life drama. Am I allowed to pick up my old account and make a new character, or should I make an entirely new account?

First of all, we’re always happy to have returning members! :D

Secondly – every character has its own account on ‘Souls. :) If you are going to be rejoining with a new character, you therefore need to make a new account for that character.

On the joining form: for existing players, can we just link to our player wiki page instead of posting all of our other active characters?

Hi 'SA! I would love some advice. For context I am a long time member that has been on the board off and on more than a couple of times. I have rejoined but it is difficult to get threads, even by responding to other thread requests. I am thinking of dropping and rejoining with a different character to get some plots rolling, but I am afraid this will also dissuade players from role playing with me as it seems flaky. :( Should I stick with my current character or switch them around?

Which character do you think would be more fun? ;)We do understand that it can be discouraging for threads to fall through, and sometimes players do develop a reputation of “flakiness” that might take time to change. Indeed, a few players might be hesitant to thread or plot with a character if they think the player won’t keep them around for very long.However, if you aren’t getting anywhere with your current character, and you think the new one will be more fun to roleplay and will have more plots going for them, it might be a good idea to switch! Most players will understand; everyone has had a character who hasn’t quite worked out for them, and many people have swapped and dropped and returned multiple times. In this case, it’s probably better to switch to a new character you have ideas for than putter along with an old character and risk losing interest altogether. :)

If I was a member for a long time but lost all my characters in a activity check and then came back do I have to start over for puppy points?

Yes, you will unfortunately need to “start over.” Players need to have been active (i.e. have at least one currently active character) for 6+ consecutive months to earn/use puppy points.
