According to the Steam Forums, we can have 10 character slots on PC compared to the 3 on consoles. I have not confirmed this yet.

Guess what? I am actually beginning my work on an original story of mine that has been sitting on the back burner for some time. I can’t really reveal too much right now, since it’s still in the planning stages, but I can tell you this: 

There are ghosts. 

Ghosts don’t have a major role, but they are in the story. Haunting the background of the story. 

To say thank you to all my followers that have been putting up with me throughout the years I’m opening up 10 ghost character positions to my tumblr peeps. First 10 ghost characters sent to me will be put into this story. 

Just a few details about the ghosts: They are human ghosts. They don’t have any ‘color’ so hair, eye, skin, clothes colors really aren’t that important. Think Black and white movies. Ghost should be from the 16th century to present time. (Think America). The ghosts really don’t have any powers other than typical ghost stuff. Angry ghosts can cause disturbances, but nothing big. Ghosts can’t touch living people, but they can touch and interact with Reapers. 

Why are ghosts around? In this story Earth is in fact Limbo. If the ghost doesn’t have a “final destination” they are stuck on Earth until they do.

Anyway! If you guys want to create ghostly characters for this story of mine feel free! first 10 sent to me get added (unless the ghost is like impossible in which case I will tell you so). You could even send yourself as a ghost if you really want to.

Would sa ever consider lowering the requirements to gain new slots? It feels like very few players ever get more than 3 characters...

24 of 69 active players currently have a 4th character slot – that’s 35%, which we do not feel is an abnormally low amount.Again, since the slot system earns slots permanently for a duration of a membership, we feel that current standards and requirements are reasonable.

Do slots ever expire if they go un-filled? Does it matter how many slots are used versus how many are unused? For example, if you have two active characters and three are empty, how long can they stay empty before they expire?

No. From the Procedures:

Once approved, the player has that slot until they become inactive (e.g. do not have any active characters) or one of their characters is removed for inactivity. Slots do not otherwise expire, and players are not required to have an active character in all their slots at all times.

Why do players lose all their slots when they fully leave the board (by official drops, not removal)? Retaining them would no doubt allow for healthier and happier RP’ing - if people needed to step back/go on holiday/etc, they’d be able to do so without the fear of losing all their hard work! Good to support the players and foster a great environment for everyone <3

How long can these players retain these slots? If they disappear from the board for three years, are they still allowed to come back and fill their 5+ slots? Where would we keep track of this? What reasons are “good enough” to leave and still keep their character slots? Remember that we do not make exceptions or judgments based on extenuating circumstances. We want things simple and fair across the board.A player only needs to post once a month to maintain membership at ‘Souls, which should be simple enough in most situations (even if this means writing a dreaded phone post), if they are worried about losing all their slots. If a player is unable to do even that, then they might not be ready to pick up and post actively with multiple characters upon their return. Having slots at all is still a fairly new change and is much more flexible and lenient towards players than prior rules regarding multiple characters. :O

If you drop more than one character at a time, do you still have those slots that you can fill or are they null and void for each consecutive character that you drop? (i.e Say I had 7 characters/slots, hypothetically, and I dropped 4 of them, would I still have those slots later on when I want to pick up more characters?)

As long as you are dropping them via the Drop List (i.e., they weren’t removed in an activity sweep), then you would still have those slots, yes! :)

Say you're in the middle of a bracketing period for another character slot and you're 3/4s the way through, meaning you only have a two week period left before you can get that character slot however, you have a character that you want to drop in the meantime to pick up another. Is it feasible or likely for you two bring in two characters in the same day, one from the character slot you already have, the other from the character slot you're in the middle of earning?

No.

From Procedures:

If a slot request is approved and the slot is filled, or a previously earned slot is re-filled, players must wait a minimum six weeks before requesting another slot.

If you drop a character and pick up a new character in that slot, you’ve invalidated the prior six weeks worth of bracketing, essentially.
