it cracks me up how Zack and Cody had opposite character development over the course of On Deck. Zack had legitimate character development, like, he worked through his commitment issues and inferiority complex in comparison to Cody. he was allowed to be his own person, and he did! he was!
but Cody progressively got more and more Fucked Up with a touch of trans-coded (unrelated to being Morally Kinda Fucked Up) as the seasons went by, and I just!

I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but they did Mal so dirty. Her whole character development in the books was about learning to trust & care about other people, that her life was better when she let people in. And then in D3 she lies & keeps secrets from everyone & is willing to condemn everyone on the Isle to ig starving to death. They really turned her into an unbelievably self-absorbed jerk; like she only cared about the Isle as far as it was a place where she had control. Yeah she’s a flawed protagonist & she was always pretty selfish but why make her the main main character & have everyone be obsessed with her & have her show so little growth. They did Mal dirty & then they did everyone else dirty by making them all look up to her for no good reason. She showed remorse for past actions & love for her friends at the end of D1 and then never again
It’s been said by many people on here already, but Uma really would’ve made more sense as the protagonist. Esp of D2. They could’ve had a different lead character for each film. They did Uma dirty bc she deserved more screen time

Ugh. Seeing people make posts like "I used to be ok with age gap ships but then people explained to me that their existence causes trauma (nevermind that abusers are always responsible for their own actions) and shipping them makes you a bad person, I'm so glad I've finally seen the light" makes me so sad and uncomfortable it's unreal.
