Why does the things we love hurt us the most?
Me, as I stare at my favorite hot chocolate that burnt my tongue.
Ethan: I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU
Mark: DON'T HELP ME JUST LET ME SUFFER
Forcibly Turning Mark Into Santa Claus Against His Will
The Eternal Black Rose
(A missing detail has been supplemented to complete this timeless tale.)
She stood before him, cloaked in rags, the storm raging behind her. The prince sneered down at her from the threshold of his golden halls, his face twisted with distaste.
"Begone, crone," he spat. "Your kind does not belong here."
Ah. Just as she had expected.
She had wandered through many lands, watched many souls pass from birth to death. Kings who built great cities. Peasants who toiled in the dirt. Lovers who held one another as if the world might end at sunrise. And always, always, she had watched how the soul of a man revealed itself—not in grand speeches, nor in battle, but in the smallest, simplest moments of kindness or cruelty.
And here, before her, stood a man who had never known hunger, never known the cold, never known fear. He was untouched by the world, not because of his riches, but because he had never been forced to see beyond himself.
She had given him a chance. Not to pass a test, not to prove his virtue, but simply to be faced with the truth of himself—to look upon suffering and decide, in that single moment, who he truly was.
And he had decided.
He saw ugliness, and he recoiled. He saw weakness, and he despised it. He saw a mirror held up to his soul, and he rejected it.
How strange, she thought, that men like him always believed themselves untouched by fate. They thought their choices were their own, their power eternal. They never realized the truth:
Fate does not punish. It only reveals.
She straightened her back, and the storm outside twisted into silence. The castle walls groaned as the air around them thickened. Her voice, when it came, was no longer cracked with age, but smooth as moonlight, ringing through the hall like a bell tolling the hour of judgment.
"You believe yourself beyond the reach of consequence," she said. "Very well. Then let eternity be your witness."
And with a wave of her hand, the truth of his soul took form.
The prince had rejected what he saw in the mirror. So now, he would become it.
The torchlight barely reached the far edges of the dungeon, flickering weakly against the stone walls. The Beast loomed in the shadows, his eyes glinting beneath his heavy brow. His voice, when it finally rumbled forth, was not just harsh—it was resigned, as if it carried the weight of something that had been true long before this moment.
"You would take his place?"
He had expected the girl to shrink back at his voice, at his form, but she did not. She only held her father tighter, her face sharp with defiance. That surprised him, though he did not let it show. He did not feel surprise often anymore. He did not feel much of anything.
Behind them, in the farthest corner of the room, the black rose rested beneath its glass shell, untouched by time, its petals unmoving, eternal. A reminder. A mockery.
This girl, this intruder, could not change what had always been. Could not change what he had always been. The rose had been with him for years beyond counting, unyielding, never bending to time’s mercy. He had come to understand its message:
His curse was not a test. It was a truth.
There was no deadline, no salvation waiting in the arms of love. No final petal to drop. No undoing of what he was.
And yet—Belle’s presence sent a strange ripple through him, like a whisper in a silent hall. Not because she was beautiful, not because she was fearless, but because she had walked into his world, his fate, his eternity—without knowing what it meant.
"Yes," he growled, though the words felt heavier than usual. "Take his place."
He did not care for the life of Maurice. He did not care for this girl’s sacrifice. And yet, somewhere deep inside him, beneath the centuries of stillness, something shifted—not like a falling petal, but like the first crack in stone.
But the black rose did not change. It never did. It never would.
How Does Aging Affect Your Health, and Can You Reverse It?
This article is originally published on Freedom from Diabetes website, available here. This is very common nowadays, many people seem to look older than their actual age? Diabetics often experience this accelerated aging, and there are clear reasons behind it.
To understand the aging, you should understand, Chronological Age, based on the number of years you’ve lived, And Biological Age, how well your organs and tissues are functioning right now.
For Diabetics, Aging Speeds Up For 5 Key Reasons
High BSL- High blood sugar speeds up aging by creating harmful compounds called AGEs. These cause skin wrinkling by damaging proteins and fats in the body.
High insulin levels- High insulin levels in type 2 diabetics can have devastating consequences, as they cause cells to absorb not only sugar but also excess water and fat, triggering oxidative stress and the formation of free radicals that can damage your heart and compromise brain function.
Oxidative stress- When high blood sugar and insulin flood your body with sugar and fat, it depletes antioxidants, leading to oxidative stress and inflammation. This speeds up aging and wears you down.
Metaflammation- The cumulative effect of the above changes over time leads to a state of chronic, low-grade inflammation known as metaflammation.
Cellular Senescence- All the previous factors lead to something called cellular senescence, where cells stop dividing and working as they should, speeding up aging. In type 2 diabetes, stress from high blood sugar causes early aging of cells, shown by higher levels of a marker called p16.
Now lets understand How to Reverse the Aging Process?
How to Reverse the Aging Process?
Go for Proper diet- Start a plant-based diet helps make the body more alkaline, reducing acidity and inflammation.
Practice Intermittent Fasting- You have to start intermittent fasting. Switching between eating and fasting triggers healing and repair processes in the body. These actions can help slow down or even reverse the aging process. Research shows that intermittent fasting can improve lifespan and health markers.
Chronic Stress- Various forms of stress, whether from relationships, work, or finances, can accelerate the aging process.
Mindset- As the body ages, the mind often begins to internalize the idea of getting older, which can further accelerate aging. This belief alone can be a significant factor in rapid aging. It’s important to think and feel young.
