- he is uber commited to his duty, but part of what makes him such a great leader is that he has a quality that just makes you fcking love him.
- he has ridiculously good natural comedic timing. He chooses the perfect times to use humour to keep morale up without realising he's doing it.
- he's super goofy. He dad dances in the middle of 79's and you bet he knows the whole rap in Waterfalls.
- he's got a lil bit of that sass! It gets worse when he's drunk and Cody may or may not have seen him death drop once (three times).
- at the end of the night, he is insistent that his men get food "to avoid hangovers" and marches them to the takeout place round the corner. Everyone rolls with it because they all understand their captain just wants a pizza.
Rex: His kisses range from feathery light and sweet to a little quicker and more yearning. He's never aggressive, but on a bad day he might get a little more needy. He likes routine and stability, so he might not be the spoiciest one on the block, but his kisses are full of love and devotion and are never boring. He's a ball of stress almost all the time, so if you kiss this man unexpectedly he'll reciprocate eagerly.
Cody: He's a firm kisser that likes to have his arms around you to keep you close. As time passes, he gets a little more clingy and eager for affection. Of course he still plays it cool in front of others, but the moment you get time with him he'll go in for a kiss if you are on board. He's got a lot on his plate and is grateful to have someone waiting for him when his work is through.
Echo: He is a big softy and gives the most tender kisses. He's all smiles and warmth when it comes to affection and he appreciates being treated with soft kisses in return. If he hasn't seen you in a while, he will give longer, needier kisses because he missed his girl so much.
Fives: He is a very affectionate kisser, pausing to look in your eyes and stroke your cheek with his thumb. His kisses are a little sloppy and more urgent because you two are usually sneaking them in quiet moments between missions or meetings. If you kissed him unexpectedly his face would light up and he'd be giddy and happily reciprocate.
Wolfe: He's a more aggressive kisser, but not one to hurry. He has quite a few emotions behind his kisses, usually it's frustration about other matters, but kissing you helps him let those things go. He's got a soft spot for you and it shows. On very good days when he's feeling especially affectionate, he can be quite tender with kisses and attentive.
Captain Rex is absolutely a switch when it comes to him and his partner. He is actually a really great example of someone who is perfectly capable of taking orders as much as he is giving them—and this absolutely translates to shenanigans between the sheets. The side of the line he more leans on will depend on his partner, but Rex is still a captain regardless, so there’s likely to be a little back-and-forth teasing no matter what kind of demeanor they have.
In terms of some specific kinks however, he would totally be into anything that would leave him doting over his partner. Body worship, praise kink, dirty talk—anything that allows him to physically or emotionally control the situation in a comforting way is definitely something he’s naturally aligned to. That said, I don’t think he would be opposed to it happening in reverse; it would rather come as a very pleasant surprise to find out how much he’s into being the one doted upon in turn.
Every clone can be a little possessive at times—there’s not many things that they can say are entirely ‘their own’ so to speak, so Rex is certainly not without that in him as well. He may not want to hurt his partner, but the idea of leaving marks or some discernible thing that shows ‘this is mine’ (even a physical object like a ring or necklace) is absolutely certain to rile him up without fail.
Author’s Note: Ending this series on a high note I love this man I have been in love with him for six years and I will never stop loving him I mostly just wrote this one for myself LMAO
- Rex made the first move when he realised he liked you (it was very sweet, he stumbled over his words a lot and you cut him off by kissing him)
- This boy is soooooo touch starved (he clings to you heavily when he’s off duty, but you don’t mind cause you know he needs it)
- Stargazing dates
- Loves it when you wear blue
- Slow dancing in the dark
- Your smile makes his day better
- His brothers make fun for being so soft around you (it’s all for laughs of course)
- Rex hates saying goodbye (he always drags it out, wanting one last kiss before he goes)
- You worry about him when he’s away
- Loooooong hugs >
- He is the perfect balance between serious and silly
- Will lift you up and carry you princess style practically everywhere
- Talks to you about his experiences in the war
- Is comfortable enough to cry in front of you
- You comfort him if he wakes up from nightmares (hold him, tell him it was just a dream and that you are here and that everything is okay)
- He loves it when you get angry and stand up for yourself
- Kisses on each knuckle
- You help him clean his armor
- Looks at you with such love and adoration (you just make him so happy 🥰)
How do you think captain rex would imagine his first kiss? Would it be soft and shy or would he imagine something a bit more steamy? 💙💙💙
I love Rex, but he’s awkward. Not in the way that he fumbles around and doesn’t meet your eyeline, instead slightly confused by the proposition of romance. Don’t get me wrong, the man can flirt to save a life, but he just doesn’t feel the need to swoon. He’d had a few misadventures with his batch mates, and after getting incredibly drunk, shared one or two kisses with names he couldn’t even remember. He doesn’t count them as experiences, more so things that just happened.
He’d like to fall in love one day, but he always imagines it to happen after the war if anything. The idea of a first kiss, being such a romantic notion, hadn’t even done so much as cross his mind; instead he only seemed to focus on the love that would follow and the happiness he could only dream of having for himself. When and if he thought about it, he could only rely on the sloppy, steamy kisses from recent years. And that was never much to go on.
But when he met you, his tongue grew heavier and his brain went fuzzy; and he realised how things like this weren’t so fickle. Rex hadn’t meant to, but he did think about how soft your lips would feel against his far more often than he’d like to admit. Even how nice it would feel to have his hands lost in your hair, or even how perfect it could be to have your eyes bat up at his.
He had banished the idea from his mind and ignored whatever impulse came, and so you can imagine his surprise when a perfect, holonet movie like moment came about and you pressed your lips against his. The kiss wasn’t harsh, not even bold; but gentle and warm. It held question, but as Rex got over the initial moments of awkwardness that made his neck blush, he quickly grew his confidence and what had been a soft gesture grew powerful. He never gave things a half-try, and he was a quick learner.
(this sort of turned out like a one shot but i hope that’s okay! i had a lot of things to say 😭✋) 💘💘
rex + cuddles? if you are still doing the HC thing
I'm still doing the hc thing fOR YOU MY LOVE DONT WORRY I GOT U BABY.
okay so, I think we all agree that rex is tRASH for cuddles. he loves. he wants. he needs.
he always says he isn't too picky when it comes to cuddling, but, like my mans fox, he really loves when his head is in your chest, he likes to hear the sound of your heartbeat, soft and steady, it's grounding for him, knowing you're there, with him. he always shudders when your nails run through his buzz, nuzzling closer to you and the ghost of a smile appearing on his lips.
he likes cuddling at aNy time of the day, really, if he could he'd spend his entire life in your arms, feeling comfy and safe and loved.
rex 100% adores when you write stuff in his back, and he has to try and decipher what you're saying. little laughs leaving his lips when he doesn't know and always gasps when he realizes what you're writing. it warms his heart because it's your way to calm him down after rough days and he feels like he won the world when you kiss him as a reward.
BUT. that doesn't mean he doesn't like being the big spoon. he lOVES kissing your temple or top of your head and feeling the goosebumps that rise in your skin with the touch of his fingertips. he chuckles when your lips ghost the skin of his neck as your words are muffled. cheek against the top of your head. a hand playing with the hem of your shirt just to have it occupied.
i know I just said rex likes cuddling at any time, but I think he prefers the sunrises with you in his arms, an hour before he has to go back to the barracks, with a rosy sky and the first rays of sunshine peeking through the window. he likes them the most, because it's a bit chilly and you're flushed against him, he can hear your little snores and feel your breath against his neck. he always squeezes you a bit, not wanting to let go, trying to memorize the feeling of you in his arms.
when you feel him moving, you subconsciously chase after him and his heart swells, breaking a little for you but also beating so quickly because even then, as you lay asleep, love him still.
rex also ADORES and I'm telling you adores, –like this is something he dreams about and wishes for the next time he's back home just to do this.– he feels on cloud number 9 when you're cuddling and the radio is on and you softly sing into his skin, voice cracking sometimes with how low you're singing, a barely whisper that sometimes doesn't even get to rex ears. but it's something that makes him feel so normal, like he's just a man in his lovers arms and just that. and there's no war and he is no soldier. he is just rex, and you're just you.
Soooooo... Now that you've done the Werlyt story, might you give us some fluffy (or angst) domestic headcanons where all the lizard siblings survive?
These are all within my in-progress AU where the siblings are saved after the defeat of each of the weapons (details to be figured out) and are settled in Terncliff, each learning how to heal and decompress from their years of militarized trauma.

Allie is often the hardest to understand simply because she is so good at masking her inner feelings. It takes a lot of trust for her to express what she’s really thinking about, even for those that she trusts - everyone saw her as the perfect little sister, so especially after their life has been entirely upended, why would she be anything but? She’s moreover intimidated by authority figures and has a hard time balancing her sense of self with the sense of fight/flight if you were to talk to her in that way.
Partially due to her young age, Allie gets along quite well with children, and takes a particular interest with getting along with those who have dealt with a similar trauma as her and her siblings. She quickly proves herself to be extremely sympathetic to these children’s traumas and pain, easily acting in a parental role that her elder brothers and sister acted in for her.
Ricon is the most soft-spoken of the group, and all but refuses to talk to most people outside of his siblings. He has nightmares even many moons after they are removed from the Garlean Empire, and it’s not at all uncommon for one of his older siblings to find him at their door in the middle of the night asking if he can stay with them. Ricon juggles a lot with the feelings of being small or unimportant, largely because he is the second youngest of the group, but he feels that he is expected to act as strong and unmovable as the elder three.
Surprisingly, Ricon has developed quite a love for botany and plants after he and his siblings are saved. He was never comfortable around animals nor people - that is it’s own story of past trauma - but there is something soft and peaceful about growing daisies or learning about the medicinal use of clover. Plants don’t expect very much of him, they can’t pressure or obligate him to certain feelings. He’s collected several books on the subject and even started a small garden outside of the house he and his siblings were given in Terncliff.
Rex was always the type to express himself outwardly and honestly, never keeping his feelings of disdain nor disrespect close to the chest. Though it often got him into all levels of punishment, it is simply how he felt as though he had control over the trauma he and his siblings were put through. In a sense, Rex felt (and still feels) as if he needs to take up a portion of Alfonse’s responsibilities to their siblings. To protect and keep them safe from anything, even if it means acting out in front of a superior officer so he gets punished instead of them. This mindset takes a long time to mute, so more often than not he comes off as a stubborn jerk to new people, especially on a bad day.
It takes Rex a while to find something he'd consider to be a hobby - growing up, the majority of his free time consisted of training, whether physically or mentally for the uncountable number and types of missions they'd be tasked in completing. To this end, Rex eventually finds that he is surprisingly good at tinkering with things - perhaps it is that native stubbornness of his lending into the inherent trial-and-error nature of working with equally stubborn materials. Carpentry and other woodworking projects have taken up a fair bit of his free time, though he's still picking up the basics; when pressed, Rex will say that he simply wants to be able to built a nice box planter for Ricon and his growing number of flowers being hoarded in his room.
Milisandia has always been the one that everyone looks to when things got tough and Alfonse wasn't around. Even then, though the moments are rare when he'd let himself show his own vulnerability, Milisandia is always the one he would lean on and turn to for advice. This sense of strength continues even after leaving Garlemald; she is always one of the first to check on her siblings, the first to be by their side, the first to tend to them as well as she always had. That said, it takes a long time for her to realize that she can finally take care of herself too, and a longer time for her to actually start doing it.
Though she isn't all that good at it, Milisandia has developed quite a fondness for cooking. Since none of them were allowed nor expected to learn how to prepare their own food beyond simply tossing it onto a fire, Mili finds a comfortable level of control in cooking that she never got to experience. Experimentation is one of her favorite things to do, especially when they have such a wide variety of foods available at Terncliff itself or in the larger, nearby cities - but her siblings might argue about the edibility for most of them. The only ones who will eat through the meals with a straight face is Ricon and Allie.
Alfonse is a mixed bag of issues, many of them complex and none of them pretty. Though his younger siblings are able to come to terms with their trauma, given enough time, Alfonse feels almost alone in his pain. So much of what they went through can't simply be forgotten, and so few people really understand what it's like to endure it - or, that's at least what Alfonse assumes for up to many moons after leaving Garlemald. As the oldest of his brothers and sisters, he did his very best to be what they needed for him - so when he's put into a situation and position where he's allowed to be himself, the prospect is more terrifying than exciting, so far out of his sense of 'normal' that he's gotten a fair share of panic attacks from it.
Despite what Alfonse assumed, there are other people like him. People at least who understand what it was like to live under the oppressive force of Garlemald and the abuse of his superiors. Though it may not be a complete 1-to-1 experience, Alfonse becomes very interested to meet and talk to people like Cid and Fordola, people who were once members of Garlemald or have mixed attachments to the empire. He eventually finds a comfortable habit in traveling among the city-states, learning about them and meeting new people, perhaps even running into the Warrior of Light on several occasions. It takes a long time for him to realize he is also allowed - and is very capable - of healing.
w/ Padme, Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi wan and the Skywalker twins ;)) they’re all very much alive and happy.
After the war, with no order 66 because I said so. This is my first time ever writing children, a weird milestone i know, but I hope I did okay let me know! I was gonna give the 501st boys a mention or a scene, but it didn’t feel natural and I couldn’t squeeze it in - so if you want them there, they’re there <3
Also I decided on the name Mira as ‘mirjahaal’ translate to ‘peace of mind’ in Mando’a, and I just know that Rex would name his kid after something like that. (also i felt smart with the whole deeper meaner situation)

“Da!”
Rex swivelled his head to the table he had been called from. He still reacted to ‘Captain’ as a variation of his name, but for around three years now ‘Da’ had caught his attention far quicker.
“Yeah C’yare?”
Perched on the edge of the table was his four year old daughter, Mira, smiling smugly as she puffed out her chest and straightened her back just how she’d learnt from Cody. She beamed as her father walked over and pressed a small kiss to the top of her head.
In a short check formed out of habit, he recognised her now braided hair, which had been partitioned into two dainty lines down her blonde head. He had gotten better at doing hair for her sake, but not that good; Leia must’ve gotten ahold of her. Whereas Luke was becoming so much like his father, Leia already had the willpower and strength that mimicked her mother, though that was no bad thing.
Her dress, again courtesy of Padmé, was a beautiful blueish pink colour, and it matched in harmony with the rosemary hue of the sky that bled through the wide windows behind them. It was almost night, and somehow there was an undeniable peace in the air. Perhaps it was something about the time of day, or perhaps it was purely because nowadays there were hardly any reasons for it not to be peaceful.
“Tell Unca Ani I’m right!” Mira spoke with surprising indignation for someone so small. That had always made people laugh.
“I’m not wrong!” Anakin proclaimed, appearing to be hurt by the child’s comment, but failing to hide his grin.
He was rested against the kitchen counter, still slumped like he always did. He perked up slightly as the ‘argument’ began again.
Jaida was near enough to have heard most of their conversation from where she sat beside a dozing Ahsoka. She was mostly focused on the datapad in her hands: lists of still uncompensated troopers that still needed to be helped, but she was far more inclined to listen to the sounds behind her. She smiled distantly at how Anakin acted around her daughter. He softened, even as Mira babbled away.
As Rex and Mira sat and stood respectively, Anakin found it almost laughable how much they were alike. She looked so much like her mother, but her blonde hair and honey eyes were the exact copy of his, that was undeniable.
“Unca Ani say that on Flucca plants glow in tha dark!” Rex smiled sweetly at his daughter’s awe “But that’s imbossible!”
“It’s not!”
“Nope!” Mira popped the ‘p’ like Jaida always did. Anakin laughed at that. It was a solid argument.
“Well, then we’ll go to Felucia. You can see it all for yourself.”
It was a promise Rex was happy to make, especially as Mira lit up at his words.
“Gotta be careful though, sometimes they bite!” Jaida teased from behind the sofa back.
As Mira giggled, a knock sounded from the door to the apartment. Ahsoka stirred up in her light sleep, though Jaida hushed her and moved instead. She pushed off the couch beneath her, winking at the grinning toddler before she made it to the door.
As it opened, Padmé and the twins were revealed, both looking perky behind their tired faces. Luke looked half asleep in truth, but Leia was tugging the senator along with a fist she’d latched onto a few fingers. It had been a long day; no words were needed for Jaida to understand that.
“Hey! You all look so tired what happened?” Jaida laughed lightly as she welcomed them into the room.
“Yoda went bonkers.” There was a hint of remorse in Luke’s voice.
The Jedi chuckled, “What’s new?”
Padmé watched with kind eyes as her children weaved off, and laughed as Ahsoka only just managed to reposition her posture before she was attacked by them both. Luke and Leia were only a year and a bit older than Mira, but they matched each other in energy.
It took them no time at all to close the door and cross into the kitchen where Anakin, Rex and Mira were. Mira had resorted to asking about the different planets, to which Anakin found himself wishing to remember the answers. Rex couldn’t help himself from laughing at the exchange.
“Is the Senate in disagreement again?” Jaida asked as she grabbed a mug for Padmé’s tea, and judging by how she rubbed her temples she suspected she was right.
“Not entirely; it’s just this new vote. Some of the Senators are too focused on the expenses of it all, and I can’t blame them. It won’t be cheap, but it needs to be done.”
“This that liberation bill Cody was talking about?” Rex interjected.
“Yes, it should be simple enough. Only they’re just some people who I can’t seem to budge on it.” Padmé sighed, but didn’t hold that annoyance for much longer. “But anyway I didnt come here to discuss even more politics, how long until they start?”
The reason for their gathering. It wasn’t often that coruscant had fireworks, but when they did it was always something spectacular. The cause for this celebration was particularly important; the 5th anniversary of the end of the clone wars. The senate had decided without much debate to introduce the idea of fireworks, Anakin even joked that it was the quickest they’d ever decided something, yet it was still exciting nonetheless.
Ahsoka got up from where she had been talking to Luke and Leia and grabbed a fruit from the bowl. She laughed along with what conversation had been happened, and grinned at each joke and jibe.
“It’s a shame Obi-wan couldn’t make it back in time.” The togruta spoke after his mention.
“It won’t be the last time we have something like this, and plus, I think Mandalore have something planned as well!”
Ahsoka shrugged in agreement at Padmé, taking a bite at the same time.
“Oh, look!” She spoke between mouthfuls. They all followed the line of her outstretched hand, looking towards the window now beginning to light up in disarray.
“It’s starting!” Luke interjected. He pushed through to the front with Leia hot on his tail. And indeed it was, the beginnings of bright crackles started to compete with the stars behind them. The fireworks were just above the senate building, bemusing the gathering with small, golden splashes of light in intricate patterns. It wasn’t loud, the apartment being so far away, but the distant sound of bangs made Mira jump a few times.
Rex comforted her, taking her up in his arms. She relaxed as soon as she knew she was safe with him; he kept her safe. That was the promise he’d make a thousands times over and more if he could. Jaida met his eyes, and hugged his arm with her head rested on his shoulder. Everything was right; real. The war was over and they had won. The fireworks were a beautiful touch, but nothing could displace the satisfaction of watching your own life grow into something you never even imagined it could. Rex had endured enough, and now he could honestly say it was worth it. He kissed Jaida’s forehead as she melted into his side.
The smaller, yellowish bursts began to grow: feeding into the sky as pinks, oranges, blues and greens spiralled off from their sources. Each pop of colour that continued into circles or stars had it’s own mind, yet still unfolded as if it were puppetry. Some shot straight up and exploded after a minute of delightful teasing, and wove between themselves like missiles. They were the ones that made Luke squeal in excitement the most.
Others whirled in spirals, endlessly collecting momentum and continuing in their talented hast; or shattered into millions of personalised sparks you couldn’t choose which one to follow. They tumbled down in rains of coloured stars, settling as if the art they’d shared with an entire silent city was only fiction. Their message was received in awe, and Jaida held a teary gaze even as they faded. Luke and Leia clapped, Mira laughed, but the adults shared pregnant silence, a moment for what they had found for themselves. Children, family, peace. Love.
The war weighed heavily, it always would. But it was over, they had lived, and a new life had begun.
