Well, I received a rheumy referral from my endo. My body REALLY hates itself.

There's a lot which really aggravates me about my rheumatologist office, namely that in under two years I've seen four fucking different doctors because I keep getting fellow who move on to greener pastures so fuck that.

But they do respond SUPER fast to emails through the patient portal dealy, and I have an appointment Monday to see what the fuck is going on with my stupid knee.

My knee and thigh have been kind of swollen off and on for like three weeks now, and my knee is actually painful off and on now. I needed a cane for the first time in months yesterday which super duper sucked, so I'm glad I'll be seeing the doctor. Even tho a large part of me feels like he'll just go "I don't fucking know do you want a referral to an orthopedist?"

My evening pills are getting ridiculous. Plaquenil and sulfasalazine (prescription rheumatoid arthritis meds) along with probiotic, fish oil, resveratrol, glucosamine and chondroitin, and a multuvitamin. Phew.

I just got home from the Doctor . . .

Me: I was getting brand name plaquenil from CVS, and when I switched to the mail order pharmacy they sent generic. Doctor: Okay Me: I'm getting dizzy off and on now, and I think it's because of the generic pills Doctor: Well that's not good! I'll write you a new prescription you can pick up today, and make sure you get the brand name. It may be more expensive . . . . Me: But it won't make me feel like the world is spinning! Doctor: Then it's worth it! I have no words for how grateful and relieved I am to have a doctor who accepts my word, and listens and believes me! I've reacted poorly to generic meds before, and every time the prescribing doc would dismiss my concerns and say it wasn't possible. If you live in Washington DC and need a rheumatologist, I can't recommend Dr Singh at GW Medical Faculty Associates highly enough. She's young, super open and informative, she tailors care to the patient (she's putting me on a less aggressive, hideous side effect-y med for RA than methotrexate since the disease hasn't fucked up my bones yet) and she is proactive, kind, and seems to really care! She's never mentioned my weight either, and I'm well fat.

I saw my new rheumy today, and she says I most definitely have rheumatoid arthritis. So I'm glad to have a definitive diagnosis, curious why the old doc was so resistant to diagnosing ra when my bloodwork is apparently textbook positive, and so freaking relieved that this new rheumatologist is nice, smart, on the ball, and informative. And she did not mention my weight once, it didn't even come up as an "oh by the way, you're hella fat do something about that."
