A lot of LOZ headcanons about the Twili
Just putting whatever comes to mind here.
The Twilight Realm is much bigger than it is in game. They are mostly floating platforms, so bridge making is actually a highly respected profession. The bridges are made of a glass like material infused with magic for strength, and are see through. They are also very thin, which is why those platforms in the palace of Twilight can blend in with the floor.
Twili markings are basically runes. Imagine them as like a blood flow path, but with magic. This is why you find a lot of markings on the arms, where the magic is channeled.
Twili with less markings therefore have less magic and usually spend their time learning a more physical craft like swordplay or construction.
Magic is somewhat more prioritized in their society thanks to it being useful for so many things, so Twili with more magic are likely to have higher positions in office.
The government of the Twilight Realm is a council, though the queen/king/princess/prince etc is usually considered to be the boss. The council members are chosen by election.
Clothing is also a big part in their culture. Weavers take pride in being able to make complicated patterns and styles.
The stuff that is used to make buildings in the Twilight Realm is actually a smooth metal, I would say something like bronze or iron? They also use stone bricks though.
Plant life is very rare here. They mostly make their food by experimenting with the few plants they have to multiply the seeds they make.
Time passes much faster in the Twilight Realm than in Hyrule. The Twili don't really have a time system because of there being no sun or moon there, but they usually just go by whenever there are more particles floating around(making the place seem darker). Basically, more particles = later in the day, though they don't have much way to prove that.
Twili are bioluminescent! This is why you don't see lanterns anywhere, they're basically their own little moonlights.
After TP Headcanons
More headcanons! Just my opinions here! You don't have to agree with any of these. As of the start of this post, Link is currently 19. He was 17 at the start of his journey.
- Ganondorf is defeated and Hyrule is saved. - Link (who I will call Twi for the rest of this post) is absolutely beaten after the fight and is taken to the Kakariko shaman Renado for healing immediately. Midna comes with him. Zelda stays behind to try and repair the Castle. - Twi recovers slowly. He is often restless and tries to get up on his own, insisting that he is fine. He almost acts as if Hyrule is still in danger. Midna leaves to visit Ordon as Twi is making his final adjustments. She explains what happened to Twi to Rusl (during the course of TP, not in the battle) and entrusts the shadow crystal to him. This is because she plans to leave Hyrule, unbeknownst to them, and she wants Twi to have it in case he ever needs his wolf form. This recovery takes about a week. - Midna, Zelda and Twi meet up at Arbiter's Grounds. The ending scene of TP happens. - Twi is in a state of shock after this and doesn't move for several minutes. Zelda is surprised as well, but she pieces things together and understands that Midna had to leave to rule her kingdom. Twi argues that even if that is the case, then she still could've kept the mirror standing so that there would be a link between them. He also cries. A lot. Twi tries to repair the mirror, but to no avail. He does manage to find a fragment of it, though, and he keeps it. - On the way back to the Castle, Zelda asks Twi what he plans to do now. He responds with a determined smile - "I'm going to find another way into the Twilight Realm.". Zelda....has her doubts. She offers him a place as a royal knight. He refuses. Twi returns to Ordon. - Rusl meets up with Twi and tells him about Midna. This causes him to trust Rusl much more. He makes the shadow crystal into a necklace for better access. - Twi starts doing research on the Twili. This continues for some time, around six months, until he gives up the study. During this period he is known to have stolen a few books from the Castle Library, which he promises to give back, but what happens after this makes that kind of hard. - Twi eventually gives up on the study, and decides that it's time for him to move on. He returns the Master Sword to its pedestal. A month later, he receives a letter from Zelda inviting him to a ball at the Castle. Now, usually, Twi isn't good at parties, so he initially wants to refuse, but it did say that it was important, so he comes along. - The castle servants are insistent that he wears something more proper (because he basically just showed up in his Ordon clothes). He is assigned a tailor - which means he has to change - which means his scars are going to be visible. He usually only covered the major ones before this (being the ones on his shoulders and chest), but the tailor's reaction makes him feel a little bit defensive about showing them. - This causes his usual need to wear layers. Anyways, the party is uneventful except for that the silk fabric is foreign to him and he's quite awkward while wearing it. When he is called into the Princess' room, things go south. - First she asks if he's reconsidered being a knight. Still a no.Zelda explains that she felt when he placed the master sword back - and when he tells her that he's permenately retiring the blade, she gets angry with him. This grows into an argument to where a few offhand comments are thrown around (such as "Maybe Midna severed the mirror because she wanted to get away from you!" Which boy howdy pisses Twi off.), and eventually Zelda calls the guards to escort him out. - But this is the Hero of Twilight we're talking about. Though reluctantly, he's able to easily get the guards off of him, and announces that "if I'm leaving, it's going to be on my terms, not yours." He does not return to the castle. Nor does he ever return those books. - It's now been almost a year after TP. Twi goes back to being a ranch hand. He's formally adopted by Rusl, though it doesn't matter much since he's nearly 20 now, but it does mean that Colin is now legally his little brother. He steps up to the role quite well. Their infant little sister, Liza, is growing. Twilight returns his original tunic to the Light Spirits, exactly where he got it from. Though Ordon does come together to make him a new tunic for all that he's done for them. - Years pass, and Liza and Colin grow up. As Rusl and Uli get more elderly, Twi steps up to the plate a lot. He's a strict big brother, but only because he cares. He sets serious bedtimes so that those two won't develop his insomnia. Liza becomes an avid researcher. Colin attempts marksmanship. The town of Ordon expands. - Prince Ralis reaches official King age, and Twilight gives him back his coral earring as a gift. - Telma and the Resistance are always looking out for Twi in Castle Town, even if he's unwelcome in the Castle itself. - After this, things kind of mellow out. That is, unless Linked Universe happens and he gets plunged into a life changing field trip. Yeah, so Zelda is kinda rude to Twi. She's not a bad person, they simply have conflicting ideals. You know that one person you just can't get along with no matter how nice you are, even if they aren't exactly horrible to you all the time? Yeah. That's Twi and Zelda.

Hello, dear! You've been visited by the random character question fairy! :D ~☆
What are your character's flaws, and how do these flaws affect themselves and the people around them? Is your character conscious of these flaws and, if so, are they trying to better themselves?
Oo okay long post incoming!!
Twilight is very conscious of himself. He goes by a very strict moral code and as such, is very aware of his actions. His emotions, however, are a different story. He often feels more passionately than most people - for example, when others open up to him about trauma and such, he tends to take in that anger for them. He's very protective of other people - not that he doesn't think they can handle themselves, but because he thinks they shouldn't have to deal with anything that they go through.
He's far too compassionate for his own good, directing others anger towards himself, and of course, if he manages to track them down, their abusers. Twilight has a very destructive mindset - he already thinks he's incapable of healing, and that the only way he can make up for his mistakes is by fixing others. He takes everything far too seriously. Midna did help to teach him to stand up for himself, but now that she's gone, he also blames himself a little for her leaving. He thinks that he made her mad somehow.
Carly is also very similar to Twilight. She has perfect control of her emotions, yes, and is a very stable person compared to most of Hyrule, having achieved peace, but she's constantly trying to better the world. She wants desperately to be acknowledged, to have some kind of positive impact on the world. She's constantly going around healing others that she doesn't have much time to think of herself. Despite her knowing self care measures, and using them most of the time, she has a habit of avoiding her own problems. She's very emotional, and maybe would've ended up like Twilight if she didn't realize that most of her problems aren't her fault.
Luto is often cold and uncaring. Depending on his age, his flaws are very different. Pre-Yiga, he was an incredible scholar, although, he suffered from horrible burnout and gaslighting (thanks, Hawthorne). This made him hyperaware of himself. He thought that there was a right and wrong answer to everything, and that if he didn't want to be condemned, he absolutely had to get the right answer every time. He didn't understand opinionated questions, because he was never allowed to speak his mind at home. All that mattered was success and preserving the Sheikah.
Post-Yiga, due to Dimas' influence, he started to learn a lot of things about the world. He finally understood that he didn't have to win at everything, but this caused a lot of emotional dissonance within the boy. If he didn't have to win at everything, then what did he have to win at? What was of importance to others? What should he care about? If his father had lied to him, then who's to say everyone else isn't lying too? Luto began to shut out most people, deciding that if he couldn't trust people to be telling the truth, then he must be the only one he could rely on. He even pushed Dimas out a bit, though it was impossible to let his mentor out of his life completely.
Unfortunately, by making the decision to only trust himself, he started to believe in his own destructive mindset, causing a heck ton of problems. Moving in with the Callistos after realizing his own flaws helped a lot, but he never truly got rid of his father's influence on his mind. He still feels that urge to win at everything, so that he can be proud of himself, and to keep alive the Sheikah culture, because that's a part of him too. Luckily he's in a much better place now.
Altair is not aware of most people's feelings. Due to military training, she was taught to suppress most of her emotions, which made it difficult to converse with other people. Leo and Amoni really helped with this, especially because of their chatterbox nature. She tries her best to understand the world now, but she still fumbles sometimes.
Leo is stubbornly optimistic. He's always trying to better things, and often avoids the negatives of certain situations. He hides his own problems under the guise of positivity. But, thankfully, he is happier than most people. After all, he has a beautiful house, a zoran best friend, and the love of his life.
Hak'illi is too carefree. Fae does not seem to think that anything really matters. Fae doesn't have much trauma because fae doesn't really care that he got orphaned. After all, fae has Grey and Red now to take care of faer. Fae doesn't feel the need to grow up, or have a want for anything, really. Fae just wants to be happy, and fae thinks that becoming a guard will make faer happy, and so fae works towards that goal.
I have a few other ideas, but this got really long, so...yeah! I might reblog it later with some other ocs.
🖊 Luto
OO OKAY YOU PICKED A VERY GOOD SHEIKAH BOY!!
Luto Albelnour is a 17 year old full Sheikah boy. His family was very strict and traditional, and he was homeschooled by his father (Hawthorne) for most of his life. He was almost never let out of the house, but luckily, their home happened to be pretty large- boasting its own garden. His mother, Aideen would always play with him and the garden snakes when he had the time to spare after his lessons. Luto is very proud about his culture, and wears Sheikah symbols on his clothing very often.
After he joined the Yiga clan, he dyed his hair black.
One of his most treasured possessions is his snake hairpiece - it belonged to Aideen before she died. He never lets it out of his sight.
Luto excels at most magic, especially fire, except for lightning. This is because of a deathly fear of thunderstorms thanks to trauma.
His teacher in the Yiga Clan was one Dimas Arlott, who taught him pretty much everything he knows. He also helped Luto to realize his trauma and heal from it (though most credit for Luto's closure goes to Miss Callisto). Dimas is half-sheikah half-gerudo, and as such, he felt very proud to be taught by another Sheikah. Dimas also passed on his somewhat carefree nature to his student, and, while it did make him a bit reckless, he was also much, much happier than the stressed, closed mindset child he was.
Luto's favorite hobby is gardening. It reminds him of his mom. He's a bit mad that none of his favorite plants will grow in Lurelin (his current residence), though.
After saving Hyrule, Luto became an engineer as well as an advocate for the Sheikah, keeping their forgotten traditions very close to his heart while also moving towards the future. He enjoys working on ancient technology.

HOO BOY HERE WE GO. LONG POST. AND I. MEAN LONG. H.
tysm for this ask @quilloftheclouds !
Twilight Winchester :
When I'm feeling sad? Well, it depends, really. I tend to get lonely very often - even though I'm surrounded by people. It's quite the oxymoron. I find myself lost in the past as well. Letting go of things isn't really my strong suit. But for now, let's put the past behind us, shall we?
It's especially hard for me to get out of a rut when I'm already in one. There is no real cure for it - I suppose it's my mindset that makes me cling to these feelings - but there are distractions. Writing about my thoughts helps me get them out, even if I'm too much of a coward to put them all down for fear of someone reading them. I keep my journal almost religiously. It's not supposed to be sappy, it's supposed to be a record of things so I don't forget, but that never really ended up happening. Nevertheless, it's certainly improved my handwriting.
Swordplay also helps to put me at ease. It really shouldn't, knowing that I hold such a deadly tool in my hands, but it helps me feel safe, I guess. Exercises like training drills and herding the goats help with familiarity. I'm usually lost without a routine. I don't have much time to do anything else, since I'm booked up looking after Colin, Liza, Talo, Malo, and Beth all the time, but I also enjoy knitting. Mi- my companion taught me how. I can usually go through a skein in a few days. It's nothing much, really - and Rusl argues that I'll cut up my hands if I use smaller needles, but it does mean that I always have warm clothes in the winter.
...
I don't think I'm much worth describing. People have told me that I need to take better care of my appearance, but with how much exercise I get, and, in contrast, how little sleep I get, I don't think I could really manage anything. Uli always told me that I look like a tree. I'm sure she didn't mean it that way, but I always thought that meant I was really thin. Not to say that I'm not. And, of course, I get the height speech from everyone. I don't know why everyone else seems to be shorter than me. Perhaps I'll hit another growth spurt and my door will be too small for me.
Some people seem to be perceptive on the whole face-markings thing. It's none of their concern. They're tattoos.
...
I think I enjoy horseback riding the most. Riding across Hyrule emerses me with a special feeling. I suppose it's confidence. I just hope I've never pushed Epona too hard - she does so much for me, and I can't ever really repay her. That reminds me; go get apples from Faron Woods. I'm almost out.
Carly Callisto :
Oh! I'm suprised someone asked about me! Usually I ramble so much about myself that no one really wants to hear more, haha. I don't usually get sad, though! Ever since I started my study of the mind, I've had much better control over my emotions. That's not to say I've never gotten sad, though. Due to my mental disabilities, I tend to feel emotions much stronger than others. It's hard to get out of that mindset, so I try to avoid it at all costs. But of course, a little music can fix anything! Lurelin's historical shanties are very interesting. Unfortunately, Danté's the only one who knows them, and - no offense here, gramps - but his voice is a bit old for the range. Nevermind that, though! It's better to focus on the positive things in life!
...
I'm very proud of how I look! I've been wanting to decide on something that was really me for a long time now. The color scheme is complimentary, of course. Blue and yellow make for a bright and fun time. And then there's my prized hibiscus. It tops everything off - quite literally- on my head. Lu calls me Fräulein Flower cause of how I look. It's a cute nickname!
...
It may be obvious already, but I'm a triple threat! Singing is my passion, but I'm alright at dancing, and I've even helped Dahira on a lot of her performances! Language is confusing, but it's a fascinating study. As of right now, I can speak Hylian, some Sheikah, Gerudo, and of course, I can understand Roxy! Swimming is very freeing for me, since I can't breathe very well. I'm always happy when I get to wade around near Lurelin.
Luto Albelnour :
I don't see why it's your business to be concerned about when I'm sad, but, go off, I guess. Man, you're just like Flower. You probably think you can fix everything, huh? Nevermind. I get sad more than I'd like to. My mind is stubborn and tends to dwell on things that I've already settled. I usually just push through it. I'll get nowhere if I stop to rest. Practicing my magic helps me calm down, though. Dimas says that anger doesn't fuel fire, but I think he might be a little off on that one. Whenever I get especially sad, it's always Flower that tries to help me. I appreciate the concern, but, well, I can handle it on my own. I already have a favorite memory. Of course, it doesn't really work the wonders it used to back when I was learning from Dad. Now it just makes me more lonely.
...
It's optimal for me to keep warm for the best magic ability. Heat is paramount to be able to make a constant fire. Fräulein Flower always says I dress like it's winter in summer, but obviously, she has never actually been a fire mage. Nothing is too hot. I've tossed out the mask now, but if I still wore it, then it'd probably be bad news. People don't usually believe me when I say I'm a Sheikah because of my hair. It....kind of makes me feel bad for dying it. But I don't want to look like him anymore.
...
I don't have time for hobbies. I have work to do - fire training, preserving my culture, meditating, blade practice - et cetera. I hope those garden snakes don't run away.... Eh? Did I say something? No. No I didn't. Clean out your ears.
