Cryptid & Creature Drawtober Day 30 — Cockatrice

The Cockatrice is a creature from mythology which is said to be born after an egg laid by a cockerel is incubated by a toad or snake. Descriptions vary but most say it has a rooster’s head and a serpent’s tail and is on the large size. Encountering one is said to be deadly—some accounts claim their breath is poisonous while others claim that merely meeting its gaze is enough to kill a grown man.

But who knows, perhaps at some time in history there was a farmer desperate enough to come to an understanding with one and enlist it to protect their livestock from predators. So long as the farmer took care of any weasels...
