Daniel barely suppressed a groan.

“Mr Lawrence? Are you with us?”

“Yes, ma’am,” came Johnny’s grumbled reply from the last row.

“Glad to hear it. Would you read Paris’s part, please?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Daniel sighed in relief.

“Thank you, Johnny. Now, Mr LaRusso?”

Daniel’s stomach flipped.

“Would you be our Romeo?”

“Oh, of course, Mrs Schmidt, I’d love to.”

“Thank you.”

She continued casting. Daniel caught Ali’s eye, mirrored her grin, gave her a wink, and then turned just in time to see Johnny’s head hit the desk.
