hello could you please draw Owlnose?
nervous little guy
Mistystar, Reedwhisker, and Curlfeather (if the theory about Reedwhisker and Duskfur being mates is true) are all descended from Appledusk.
Just a thought.
Spoilers for River and the Sky Excerpt! (Which can be found here)
It makes literally no sense to me why Squirrelflight, Sparkpelt, and Finchflight disapprove so adamantly of Nightheart changing his name when it was BRAMBLESTAR who CHOSE THE NAME. Yes, Flamepaw asked to have a more fitting name than Flameheart, but it was Bramblestar who let it happen. Nightheart didn’t even suggest the night prefix. Shouldn’t at least some of the ridicule who named him? This book is ridiculous.
And let’s talk about how ridiculous this ridicule is in the first place! I do not remember what Sparkpelt was like in her previous appearances, but in this arc, she has clearly been established with the motivation of trying to develop a good relationship with her son. Considering this, It makes no sense for Sparkpelt to be outraged with Nightheart’s supposed disrespect of his family if what she wants is to become closer with him! Does she not see how backwards of an approach that is?
The only thing I think this could be implying is that Sparkpelt cares more about upholding Firestar’s legacy than her own son, which I just don’t believe, no matter how much of a angsty teenager he is. She even calls him stupid in front of the whole Clan. She didn’t seem like the kind of parent to punish him like this.
It doesn’t make sense for Squirrelflight to be mad either. Her entire portrayal in A Starless Clan has felt sort of off to me. When was she such a hard ass? Check this out.
This passage just reeks of an irrational, emotional woman having to be put in her place by her husband. Her husband being BRAMBLESTAR by the way. One of the most emotional and irrational cats of all time. I know Flamepaw understands why she’s angry, but she’s still in the wrong.
And it makes even less sense for Finchflight considering she SUPPORTED Nightheart’s decision to have a different name. No reason is given for her change in opinion.
I know we are supposed to sympathize with Nightheart, but if the only way the writers can think to make him sympathetic is to make other cats unreasonably illogical, then that is just bad writing. You have a plot beat you need to hit, okay, but could you come up with a better way?
Sorry for the long post, I have a lot of feelings.
I finally finished reading River and I wanted to share some of my opinions and theories for this arc :)
I think Nightheart's story arc refreshing for the series! But I think if the Erins had made his sister or literally any female Firestar descendant the focus of this arc with these feelings, the story would be so much more interesting.
The plot of this arc is more interesting than the characters. I don't feel attached and it's difficult to feel for them as a reader because of this, but I suppose once the remaining books are released my feelings might change. But there's also this doubt due to the fact that after TBC, the characters started to feel plain.
I think this arc is going to focus on Riverclan and them turning down Starclan. I think the tragedies they're being forced to face is going to change their opinion of Starclan, which might cause conflict between the clans, and I suppose Frostpaw is going to have to resolve everything. I think she also might end up leader.
I also think Nightheart's rebellious nature might affect the plot too. He's shown so far to be stubborn, opinionated, and blunt. His nature could affect the way of the clans and maybe end up influencing changes to the code.
Sunbeam isn't interesting, sorry.
Bramblestar's PTSD is pretty interesting, but I am hoping this isn't a ploy to make us feel bad for him. It also seems like he will step down this arc, maybe for either Squirrel or Nightheart to become leader. But obviously it will be Nightheart, but Squirrel deserves it!
I don't like that Squirrel and Sparkpelt are being portrayed negatively in this arc as if they didn't have their own issues. I hope that isn't the case.
Would be a blessing if this arc left out romantic relationships. The Erins are just very bad at it and at this point it always obscures the main plot.
So I made a mashup and I have no idea if it’s actually good or not but I think it’s good (at least at the end) and I wanted to share it. I somehow managed to fit They Might Be Giants, Barenaked Ladies, MCR, and The Stanley Parable (kind of) [It’s Mumbletown] into one song, all loosely based around Berryheart’s...attitudes, let’s say. This might be leading up to a mashup-album based around the recent Warrior Cats Book “River.”
So was your day?
MY CROPS HAVE BEEN WATERED AND MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED, I AM OVER HERE CRYING THAT WE’RE FINALLY GETTING RIVERCLAN POV
Leopardstar told Frostpaw that Reedwhisker was in a shadowy place within RiverClan’s territory, but if she acted quickly, she could still save him and the Clan.
However, Reedwhisker was found dead in a ravine.
If he was dead, why didn’t Leopardstar simply say that? Or why didn’t Reedwhisker himself appear? And how could there still be a chance to save RiverClan if Reedwhisker was dead?
Because he wasn’t dead yet. He fell into the ravine, injured himself terribly, and lay there slowly dying for several days....
