These are not new, but I thought I might post them again for the 25th of May.

So Meserole saw Vetinari being bullied by the kids and did nothing? Not even after, when they were alone?

I get it was ‘all part of his plan’ and he ‘had it under control’ but damn did that kid have anyone by his side. One, she didn’t know that, so a simple ‘are you alright?’ couldn’t hurt, given that she is his only parental figure.

And two, there is a difference between “I’m glad he destroyed the book bc now only I’ll have that information” and “yes, I wanted to be mocked and humiliated in front of the entire guild and have my book taken from me and thrown into the fire when I was just trying to enjoy a meal”.

And we also know he didn’t want the book burned, because he doesn’t burn the other copies (he just hides them) because they are too dear to him to do so.

So, no, I don’t think he was fully fine with what Downey did and I find it kinda sad that he had no one to talk to about it.

This is also without considering that the book incident was only one thing we were shown but considering how natural Downey and the other kids act through it is safe to deduce it happened regularly.

Headcanon: Roberta is that one family member everyone has who knows all the ways to remove any kind of stain from any kind of fabric. The really funky substances to use too, like milk or vinegar. Vetinari picked it up as a side effect from living with her his whole life, and whips the knowledge out of his back pocket when needed, leading to the inevitable response of ‘how do you know this???’
