What if when Robert is found innocent and he’s released from prison we get a parallel scene to the one where Robert collected Aaron from prison all those years ago in 2017.

Robert walks out the prison onto the street thinking he’ll have to call a taxi back home and turns to find Aaron waiting there for him, they don’t say anything, just start running toward each other until they’re in each other’s arms.

idk why people keep comparing Robert/John to Aaron/Kev because it’s just not the same thing

Robert literally knew about John. He knew the situation, knew there was someone else involved, and still chose to go through with it. Like, that was a fully conscious decision. Aaron, on the other hand, had no clue there was even a third person in the mix — never mind an actual husband. He wasn’t sneaking around knowing what he was doing, he was being lied to.

That’s a massive difference. Robert acted with full knowledge, Aaron reacted out of betrayal. And yeah, Aaron can be messy and emotional (when is he not?), but he was completely blindsided.

So no, you can’t compare them. One person made a deliberate choice knowing it would hurt someone, the other got hurt because someone made that choice for him. There’s just no real parallel there.

I just want to put this out here for those who are concerned about Robert loving Kev and being IN love with Aaron because the two cannot be compared.

It took a very specific set of circumstances for Robert to love Kev — he was scared, broken, and desperate for safety. Without that situation, Robert wouldn’t have even looked at him twice. And it was the same for Aaron with John; he only cared for him because of where he was at the time — lonely, lost, and trying to convince himself he could move on. If Robert had been around, John never would’ve stood a chance. Every other connection they’ve had has been situational, born out of timing, need, or circumstance. But what Robert and Aaron have isn’t like that. Their love isn’t dependent on what’s happening around them — it’s intrinsic, something that exists no matter the version of their lives or the paths they take.

Robert may have loved Kev, and Aaron may have loved John, but they’ve only ever truly been in love with each other. And that’s the difference — loving someone can come from comfort, timing, or need, but being in love with someone is something deeper, something that endures. For Robert and Aaron, it doesn’t matter the situation, the world, or the life — they were always going to find each other, and they were always going to fall in love. Their love isn’t situational; it’s intrinsic and everlasting

A scene I’d love to see is John being arrested. He’s standing outside the police car in handcuffs when Aaron comes running onto the scene. Aaron freezes for a moment, his eyes fixed in John’s direction with what looks like relief, love, and happiness. John smiles, believing Aaron is running toward him. But as Aaron takes off again, he rushes straight past John—without even noticing him—and throws himself into Robert’s arms, much like a prison release reunion. Overcome with emotion, Aaron breaks down, sobbing about how he thought he was going to lose Robert again and how much he loves him—feelings he never came close to showing for John. As this unfolds, Mackenzie approaches John and delivers a smug “I told you so.”
