Duffy’s album was honestly iconic for me when I was a teenager. The whole album embodied my angst and all the existential feelings of being a teenager. Every now and again the mood strikes and I listen to her album and it’s like a mental reset. I often asked myself what happened to her and I wonder why she left music. Hearing why has made me listen to that album and think about that time of my life and how Iv grown since. I can’t imagine having gone through what she went through and being brave enough to tell the world.
I implore anyone to listen to the Rockferry album all the way through in the bath and not feel every stage of grief alongside the shocking realisation that your life is your own to love within the hour.
