why yes i am spiralling again thinking about the different relationships the rocks siblings have with each other, thanks for asking
lazuli and rococoa are the eldest and they bond over that/bossing around their younger siblings. they are also the ones that have the greatest sense of duty, rococoa bc she’s the heir, lazuli because she can literally see the future and also bc she’s the first to get married, and so they understand each other in a way the others can’t, especially as they get older.
they’re both really smart and strategic and take advantage of their siblings thinking they’re not fun by doing really elaborate (sometimes magical) pranks that can never be traced back to them. sapphria knows it’s them but she can never get them to admit it. it’s infuriating.
similarly, amethar and sapphria stick together because they’re the youngest. they both have rebellious tendancies, especially as kids, and would be the ones most like ruby and jet sneaking off together and getting into trouble. they probably argue more than ruby and jet do though, just because they both seem quite hot-headed, but they love each other the same amount.
bc sapphria’s a rogue she teaches amethar a version of twin speak (sibling-speak?). he still remembers some of it, and sometimes when jet and ruby are using twin-speak he can kind of understand what they’re saying.
citrina leans more towards the older siblings as she understands that sense of duty and leadership, but she’s down for escapade shenanigans with amethar and sapphria too. she helps them get away with stuff bc the adults all think she’s good and sweet and obedient but really she’s scamming them to help sapphria and amethar steal all the cookies from the kitchen or whatever they’re doing that day.
in spite of the obvious divide between magic and the church, she’s really close with lazuli, given that they’re the quiet, studious ones out of the siblings. they both spend a lot of time in the library studying and having interesting discussions about faith and magic.
it’s also good to have a nerd buddy for when the raucous siblings make fun of them, which happens a lot.
talking of the raucous siblings: amethar and sapphria are obsessed with rococoa when they’re younger. she’s so strong and cool and she has a sword!! amethar just follows her around everywhere begging her to teach him to fight and when she eventually agrees he loves her even more.
sapphria also gets taught by rococoa but tries to act cool about it. like, rococoa will correct amethar’s technique, and she’ll be like yeah, amethar, it’s like that, isn’t it obvious. she’s pretty transparent though, and whenever rococoa praises her she grins for the rest of the day.
rococoa loves her murderous baby siblings so much and is super happy she gets to teach them how fight given that the older two aren’t into it. they all still have a special bond even when amethar and sapphria stop thinking she’s quite as cool when they get older.
and of course, the most sacred of sibling bonds: everybody else ganging up on one person at random and bullying them mercilessly.
