Check out this amazing gif that @roguebebe made for my newspaper fic! I’m just in awe of the honeycomb pattern and the faded newspapers. And it MOVES! It’s perfect!
Read the fic here!
Hi, do you have any schitt's creek fic recommendations that are more about Alexis and espically her past before they moved? Or just Alexis centric fics?
Hey there! Here are a few:
Homecoming by sefa16
Alexis spots a Jewish star necklace at the mall; for some reason, she can't stop thinking about it.
Half of My Soul, as the Poets Say by mixtapesandsunsets
Yes, she imagines telling the Alexis of two years ago, who had felt so untethered sitting next to Twyla outside these very rooms. You believe in fate. Your fate is right in front of you, Lex, you just need to reach out to meet it. It’s her. It has always been her. (This one appears to be time-stamped and shows some early aughts Alexis)
Rose Gold by fairmanor
To hype up the holiday special of Sunrise Bay, Moira records a Christmas themed sleep story for the Calm app. While doing press for its release, Alexis realizes this is the first bedtime story she's ever heard from her mother.
Super Rich Kids by codswallop
Alexis really wishes she hadn’t come home from Hong Kong so soon. (Warnings for apendicitis)
Haven’t Thought of You Lately at All by shykia1029
There are six months in their twenties during which David and Alexis don't speak at all.
stars & boulevards by singsongsung
An Alexis-centric series consisting of post-canon relationships between Alexis and Ted, Alexis and David, and Alexis and Moira.
we’ll take the world together by sonlali
5 times David takes care of Alexis and 1 time Alexis takes care of him
Thank you to @yourbuttervoicedbeau @danieljradcliffe @roguebebe @januarium @alamborghini @anniemurphys and @hullomoon for helping me compile all of these!
Just give me all your mind (I've got a surprise)
Five of Patrick's birthdays we don't see in the show, and one we do.
NO ONE TOLD ME IT WAS AMY ROGUEBABY’S BIRTHDAY!!!!! Honestly, I need a calendar for these things.
Happy (slightly belated) birthday, @roguebabyinyourstore -- here is a little thing I slapdashed together for you. I hope you had a day as wonderful as you are ❤️
[READ ON AO3]
oh my dear, sweet, katey. you are one of those people that come into your life and you stop and think "where tf has this person been all my life"? thank you for keeping me sane this last month and for roasting me along the way and reminding me not to take myself too seriously. thank you for your words, I read them before I knew you and I can honestly say that their brilliance matches the author. thank you for being the funniest person I know and for letting me in on the joke. ily here's to 2021❤
🥺🥺🥺
Who did you pay to write these nice words, because the real Rogue Baby would never say such sweet things to me.
In all honesty though, your presence in my life has been such a lifeline lately and it makes me feel like 2020 wasn’t a total bust. You are bright and brilliant and I’m proud of everything you’ve accomplished this year. You put your heart into everything you do, and anyone who talks to you for a minute can see that. You are truly stunning and I am lucky to know you.
You’ll always be in on the joke, babe 😉 Here’s to the new year! ✨
5, 6, 7 for the fanfic asks! 💛
You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?
Well, I have written things anonymously, for fests, and people tell me that the banter is what gives me away. Also, once someone told me, when they guessed me for a fic (correctly), that my fics are always fun and easy to read, but with deeper meaning going on under the surface. That is one of the best compliments I've gotten!
Name three stories you found easy to write.
I never really find writing easy; I tend to agonize a little and edit a lot. But there is one story that I wrote in about three hours (waaaay shorter than any of my other fics), I Did That in Front of You Last Night, where David eats out of the garbage (inspired by his line in Housewarming, of course!)
My collaboration with @likerealpeopledo-on-ao3 , Mr. Universe, that we did for Distractivate's birthday, was easier (and more fun!) to write because we were very much in sync with our vision. It was great writing something and looking at the doc later and seeing she'd made it better! I really love how this fic came out.
And finally, I think I'd say my first fic, Grand Gesture, focusing on David's week between the BBQ and the Olive Branch, was "easy" to write because once I had the idea I was kind of obsessed with it. I got this idea that David basically had the skills of a 14 year old when it comes to working through a relationship hurdle--he hadn't done it before and what he knew about relationships he knew from rom coms. He was just really ill equipped to do it. But he found a way, even if it wasn't perfect, and I wanted to show how brave that was and how hard.
Name three stories you found difficult to write.
Can I say Sting Like a Bee for all of them? LOL. This was my longest fic, and David and Patrick were older, and exes, and in a very different setting. I really had to wrap my head around what they would be like in that setting. Also, it had a very complex plot. There were three interweaving stories--the mystery, the newspaper revival, and the falling in love story--that I had to balance. It was a great challenge!
fanfic writer meme!!! 1, 4, 29 and 32 (😉)
Ahhhhh thanks Amy!! 💖
1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
My comfort zone is anything that someone else writes the plot for. Seriously. I hate plot with the heat of a thousand suns. That’s why SO MANY of my fics are prompt fills that don’t really require plot, or things where canon is doing the actual plot driving for me.
4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Not including kinkverse or my 50 First Dates AU alternate POVs or the two Elevate fics I’ve written, I have 10 fics in my WIP folder right now. Let’s see, one I’ll share... oh, actually, there’s a sex pollen fic on the go in there!
29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
THIS IS SUCH A GREAT QUESTION. And uh, it’s not EXACTLY a prequel or a sequel, so maybe this is cheating, but if I knew a single solitary thing about baseball I would 100% write all the “““RPF””” that would have sprung up in the universe of I’d swing with you for the fences by @danverses because as you well know, Amy, crack concepts are my specialty.
32. How do you feel about smut?
I am scandalised that you would even ask me this 😂
In all seriousness though, at some point I got a reputation for being a pretty much exclusively smut writer when less than 40% of my fics are actually rated explicit? And like, I don't mind, there are far worse reputations to have than that, but occasionally I’ll get someone expressing surprise that I’ve written something G or T and it always gives me a bit of a laugh. I have no problem being known as the friendly neighbourhood smut peddler, though 😉
My other thoughts on smut are: I think sometimes there’s a perception from people who prefer not to read E-rated stuff (which is completely fair and legit!) that like, porn and plot, or porn and character development, are somehow completely separate from one another? And I don’t think that’s a fair assessment. I would, in fact, argue, that the entire kinkverse is a character study, just by way of smut rather than G-rated introspection. Or maybe I’m giving myself too much credit 😂
The other thing I think really sucks for writers is that it is FAR easier to get eyeballs and kudos on an E-rated work. Like I can dash off porn in an hour or two and see the kudos shoot right up. And I respect that that’s what people want to read! But I’ve talked to other writers who feel like they HAVE to include smut to get readers, even if it doesn’t feel natural for the story or they’re not comfortable actually writing that level of sex scene, and that’s a pretty crappy place to be in as a writer, trying to decide on that trade-off.
Wow, this turned into an essay. Sorry. SMUT IS COOL THANKS FOR ASKING.
