which games would you say have some of the best or most interesting prewritten campaigns? i've been looking for games that are light on rules or easy-ish to get into as a beginner... like lasers & feelings flavored, but unfortunately im not very creative or good at planning as a gm and such a loose and vague story starter isnt enough for me to run a game for my friends with. im not really picky about genre either because that part feels easy enough to adapt to.
If you’re looking for something that’s very light rules-wise but also has a strong, no-prep-required hook, you’re probably looking for something that packages a system together with a pre-written scenario. For example, the authors of Lasers & Feelings have also published a system-and-scenario-in-one minigame called Lady Blackbird; does that look like it’s along the lines of what you’re after?
Alternatively, you could look at games that distribute responsibility for coming up with the scenario among the entire group, rather than dropping it all on a GM’s shoulders. Fiasco is a good example of that approach - it uses pre-written booklets called playsets that begin with a brainstorming phase, plugging elements from random lookup tables together according to a set of formal guidelines to yield that session’s scenario.
