What is different in the au? Does maple's kits drown or is it a different sinerio?

There are a few notable differences that are mostly because of the setting.

Maple is kicked out of her religious community. She is emotional and not driving safely in a terrible rainstorm. She ends up driving into a river with her kids in the car, Maple is able to escape, but her kids unfortunately can't.

Two other pretty big differences that I feel like pointing out:

1. Birch(face) and Maple are married before his death. How he died, I'm not entirely sure at the moment, I'm thinking a workplace accident of some kind.

2. Reed(shine) is the one who kills Maple rather than Perch(paw). The reason being that I really like Reed :]. Perch isn't really part of the main story here since apprentice roles aren't a thing (maybe outside of med cat apprentices who would be like, pastors in training)

Does Freckle go to cat hell in this version?

No, Freckle was never meant to be there. She's flawed, but she doesn't deserve to rot in hell lol.

Technically, she doesn't even see the kittens die, which is the justification for why they put her in the Dark Forest.

I want it to be kind of ambiguous whether their heaven even exists in this AU in the first place.

I'm really starting to like this Mapleshade au do far! I like how you made Apple and maple to look almost like their own human oc but in it's own fursona way! 👊👍👍 (Srry for yapping so much)
