How Do I Look SA host, Roxy Burger‘s baby girl, Adrienne turns 6 months old.
The proud mom took to her Instagram page to share a series of adorable photos of the celebrant seated, wearing a tutu and flower crown. She was surrounded by white feathers and in one of the picture, half a cake.
Roxy captioned the post;
“I can’t believe 6 months have passed. Happy half birthday my Ady Baby! Our lives…
Spring day was splashed with a pop of red as Wimpy made time to celebrate 50 years of memorable moments in South Africa in the heart of Maboneng.
The event was anchored by television star Roxy Burger and saw celebrities #Maketime to celebrate the brand’s momentous birthday occasion. Among those who made it and shared in the moments that have shaped the brand over the years were radiant…
Authentic, bold and inspirational are some of the words used to describe her. She’s a South African TV Presenter, MC, voice artist and celebrity blogger. Her name ..drum-roll please….. is Roxy Burger.
From first gracing our screens at the tender age of 10 years old, with the odd TV commercial, Roxy has since become one of SA’s TOP style Icons and TV Personalities.
I got to have a chat with her and pick her brain about her career, life and everything in between.
Dennis: What is your greatest achievement thus far, according to your standards, not those of society?
Roxy: I think simply longevity in our industry. I've been working for 20 years continuously and transitioning from a kids presenter to an adult was a challenge. Top Billing and Strictly Come Dancing are definite highlights.
Dennis: When do you feel most alive?
Roxy: When I'm travelling! Meeting new people, discovering and exploring unknown cities is such a thrill. And also live TV. There's nothing like the pressure of a live show.
Dennis: What do you think is the first thing people say and think when they hear your name?
Roxy: Oh the blonde girl from KTV? Haha!
Dennis: What are your core values? The pillars on which your life rests.
Roxy: Be good to people. It's simple. And when it comes to work, be consistent. The head of MNET taught me that. If you are consistently good at what you do and professional at all times people will use you again and again.
Dennis: What is it like being friends with you?
Roxy: Fun I hope! Difficult to say really. Ask my friends ;)
Dennis: What do you think the world is in serious lack of?
Roxy: Tolerance and understanding. We don't put ourselves in others shoes. And look through their eyes. We are selfish and defensive. Look at the #BlackLivesMatter movement. White people get defensive and say all lives matter. Yes, they do but that's not what the #BlackLivesMatter movement is saying. Right now, black people are not being respected and valued. So right now we need to uplift this movement! For example when people are advocating for Cancer awareness do you reply and say "all disease matters". No. (Credit to Facebook, I saw that there). Sometimes white people are scared to admit that we come from a privileged background and we need to understand the past so we can move forward. Just look at it another way before you make assumptions and come to conclusions.
Dennis : What labels have been put on you that are not true?
Roxy : I hate the dumb blonde thing which I've been subjected to on sets. And I also believe that women in our industry are not payed equally to me. I've experienced this first hand.
