Hamefura RPG AU OG Katarina Headcanons and Concepts
For the sake of shortening my information(and preserving my sanity), I will be doing 2 different headcanons(and cards) of Katarina: Bakarina and OG Katarina. Bakarina will be the Hamefura version of Katarina while OG Katarina will be the Fortune Lover version.(in that version of Katarina, I will be discussing her role as the Final Boss) Now, let’s begin with my headcanons for OG Katarina in @azure-wolf-227’s Hamefura RPG AU. Also, thank you @dulcito-on-ao3 for helping me with figuring out OG Katarina’s design!
She learns that she has plant magic some time before she gets engaged to Prince Geordo, during a magical aptitude test that she was required to take some time after her 8th birthday.(Her magical aptitude was one of the reasons OG Geordo decided to get engaged to her)
OG Katarina cares about her loved ones. She is protective of them and will do anything for them.(especially her mother)
OG Katarina wants to be engaged to Geordo because she likes him and she wants to use the political power when she becomes queen to protect her mother.
The players do not know that OG Katarina loves her mother and has a strong desire to become queen to protect her, though it is vaguely hinted that OG Katarina does love her.
OG Katarina thinks Geordo owes her his “love,” because she is a refined lady and has powerful and rare magic.(“Why doesn’t Geordo love me? I specifically requested it!”)
When Geordo and/or Keith begins to fall in love with Maria, Katarina bullies and harasses her whenever the group rests. It isn’t until near the climax that she begins to target Maria during battle.
Sometime during their journey, the group is tasked to investigate a specific inn that is suspected of illegal experimentation on monsters. The group disguises their investigation as a “much needed break,” at a well-reviewed inn that is a highlight for many noble adventurers.
While the group is resting, Maria accidentally eavesdrops on an argument between Geordo and Katarina about Maria. Eventually, Katarina reprimands Geordo for not being loyal to her and exclaims how she doesn’t understand why he cares about Maria. Depending on his level of affection for you, he will either exclaim all the good points about Maria or just exclaim all of Katarina’s bad characteristics. This causes Katarina to break down in tears and flee to her room.
While Katarina is at her lowest, a powerful demonic entity will manipulate Katarina into giving him permission to possess her body, in exchange for enormous amounts of power to get revenge on Maria, to which she accepts.
Sometime during the middle of the night, the group investigates the inn, and realizes that not only was the inn guilty of illegal experimentation of monsters, but is also a cult for a powerful demonic entity named Balam. The cult is responsible for the hardships of the group by releasing its experiments into Sorcier for the purpose of “spreading their holy message,” and is looking for the perfect vessel
The group gets caught by the “head of the cult,” and fights him, though strangely enough, Katarina mysteriously disappears sometime during the battle.
Once the head of the cult is defeated, he is saved by a now-possessed Katarina, and eventually begins to wreak chaos.
Katarina becomes more calculating and cunning during this battle, as she has the guidance and power of Balam.
This fight is the ultimate game-changer and is the other factor that determines whether you get a good end or a bad end.(the other being your affection points)
In order to get the Good End, you must use your teamwork skills and make sure that you and your party minimize the destruction and deaths of people as low as possible, while finding a way to exorcize Katarina.
To get the Bad End, you have to keep your HP somewhat low, allow numerous citizens to die, and leave numerous surrounding buildings collapsed and decimated.
And now, for the endings themselves:
Good Ending: Balam is exorcized by Maria using her light magic. After the battle, Geordo/Keith exile Katarina for attempting to injure and kill many citizens, as well as for the damages caused during the battle. Geordo/Keith then confess their feelings to Maria, thus officially beginning their relationship.
Bad Ending: After seeing multiple citizens being killed, as well as Maria being heavily injured, Geordo/Keith snap and kill Katarina.(via different methods) Horrified by their actions, Geordo/Keith run away, leaving Maria heartbroken.
The good ending is considered to be the canon one by the developers.
There is a mid credits scene where Balam meets Katarina again with his cult, inviting her to become his vessel,(he phrases it so that Katarina can interpret it as a way to become an equivalent to a god) and in exchange, he will help her become queen and take revenge against those who have wronged her. Obviously, she agrees.
