Happyyyy pride month be weird always
Settled on a main design for rubberdog :] not much changed but a lot happier w/ it (it/its)
mini flags #38 f2u with or without credit!
flags in order 1978 pride | leather* | rubber* apagender | aporine | outherine feregender | feremasc | ferefem
*leather & rubber are kink pride flags, but are very intertwined with the lgbtq+ community and therefore are accepted here :)
Came across some art on Bluesky the other day that had a Trans/rubber pride flag, so was inspired to knock together some versions based on their design. They're a little rough but I was very sleep deprived and just wanted it done
(also tried to do a Non-binary one but just couldn't get a colour combination I liked)
Made an avatar for our Highwire fictive - First time she's (I've) ever been really happy with how she's drawn herself. Rubber pride background of course - but when coloring the eye I thought it's be fun to do a hypno background too. And yes I am doing both the metal and eat-out gestures at once.
Though I made these for me, it's not exactly a personal character, and it's a particular way to be I love sharing with others. So if you have any inclination to save and use these yourself, or even change the background, be my guest. I'd like to ask for a link back to me if you can help it. :)
One time at my pride club i was giving a presentation about queer culture and history that included a list of pride flags, and one of the freshman was like “ummm… why are leather and rubber up there??” And i immediatley launched into this big explanation of how kink is an important part of queer culture and how it should be recognized as such. But they just stared at me blankly and then i was like ohhhhhhh. So it turns out they had never heard those terms before other than them being materials and they had NO IDEA what i was talking about 😭😭
Even though I came out as bisexual in the 4th grade I still don't know a lot about the LGBTQIA community but I'm always willing to learn.
So- I'm going to ask about a few things!
What exactly is aromantic? Is it the same as aroce? (I'm so sorry if I didn't spell that right)
What is agender and why does it have the same flag as transgender?
What is rubber pride? The flag is yellow with a purple ring.
What is intersex? I grew up calling it hermaphrodite. (Not exactly sure if it's the same) I thought it was when a person had both genitalia.
I'd prefer if you talked to me as if I were a child so I'd REALLY understand. Like please. I wanna be educated.
Ok, so I now know that agender and transgender do not have the same flag. Fuck Google. And intersex is the flag that is yellow and has the purple ring
I have also been informed that the term hermaphrodite is a slur and I will not be using it any further. The only reason I used it was because I have worked with animals with 2 genitalia and that is the term that farmers use.
This is the leather and rubber pride flags! While not always LGBT+, these communities have been heavily intertwined with ours throughout history and cannot be ignored, especially when these pride flags are some of the older ones in our community.
