fish rugs by h.h.hooks
Hey, fellow textile art folk, remember to gently straighten your neck, and get a drink before going back to work. It's always for the best to remember that you'll get more frustrated if you're dehydrated, from my experience. Also you're doing good.
My chicken rug! I think it's a sussex hen? I don't really know my chicken breeds...
It's about 18 by 18 inches with a loop in the back to hang like a tapestry. Burlap and (mostly) acrylic yarn (with a few mystery yarns I got secondhand). About a week's work with my punch needle!

This is 100% socks.
Ok, and some string for the warp.
Here’s how:
1. Collect approximately 100 old socks (next time I will count them). This is easier than you might think. Most of these are just from asking family, and also a stint cleaning student lodgings at the end of the year.
2. Wash them. Please.
3. Cut them into loops, ignoring the cuff, toe and heel. Stretch each loop.
4. Loop the loops together to make a mahoosive ball of yarn. I made shorter, colour-themed segments first, then chose an order, then joined all the shorter strips.
5. Weave on a peg loom.
a friend commissioned me for a rug of the home teleport from runescape!! this was my first rug project in over a year and it felt so good to get back into it and i had a lot of fun making it, what more could i ask for!?
