New rule will be being added to my pinned post. I'm putting it under the cut because it does include the word 'kin' which is apparently a trigger for some people on this site. It's kind of long and might be shortened but here's the explanation behind it.
New Rule: I am old, you guys. Like, what does that mean, and why is that a rule? It's important to note because throughout time, across the span of generations, language changes. This seems like the silliest rule to have to make, but after finding out that the reason some people have stopped reacting with me is because I have used the word 'kin' in terms of Angel like once or twice is concerning to me. Per the Internet (I Googled this last night), the whole concept of 'fictivekin' or whatever started becoming a thing in 2010. You know what I was doing in 2010? Getting my degree to become a professional money making adult, rather than having the time to be on the Internet. To me, and others I have spoken with in my age bracket, 'kinning' a character means heavily relating to, feeling a connection, understanding them on a deeper level, etc. It does not mean I am actually an 8 Foot Tall Spider Demon (I would hate that btw).
I would like to think I shouldn't have to say this. I post plenty of OOC stuff that is veeeeery out of the realm of what Angel would say; like, okay, I'm a counselor. Angel has never touched a day of therapy in his damn life. Already a major distinction. And yes, I relate heavily to Angel. That's the reason I choose the characters I do. But I relate to every character I cosplay....which in my 20 year career is over 300 characters and damn that would be a LOT of kins fighting for dominance, wouldn't it?
Tldr; I'm old. I have never seen as many rules in people's blogs saying 'don't react if you kin such and such.' I have never heard of people deleting people for simply relating to a character. And I think it's because language is a powerful thing that is ever evolving. So if I post something, talk to me? Ask what I mean about a thing before assuming something? I don't have time to sit on urban dictionary and look at every word that has been 'reclaimed' or has a different meaning for the Internet culture. Because again. Old. And chances are I don't mean it like the Tumblr culture does.
Side note not going into this rule, but I am literally currently having issues with a friend irl because she doesn't see me as myself clearly, and sees me as Angel. And is projecting hardcore feelings because of that. And I hate it, and I am annoyed and appalled by it, because I am me. So yeah, no, I definitely don't see myself as the actual Angel Dust or want to be him because....I have my own personality, likes, dislikes, thoughts, etc. And that's currently causing conflict in my real life which is evidence of how much I hate it.
