THE BIRTH OF THIS WIP

Hello!! Thank you @hircines-hunter and @sulphuricgrin for tagging me this lovely WIP Wednesday, which happens to fall on my birthday this year! Woohoo!! In turn I shall snipe @thequeenofthewinter @yewphoric @illumiera @skyrim-forever @umbracirrus @silly-little-diary @stormbeyondreality @blossom-adventures @pocket-vvardvark AND YOU, dear reader, if thou has anything lovely to share uwu I haven't been able to make as much progress as I would like on my chapter, but I'm writing what I can! This one will also feature yewphoric's very own JENAIS, which I'm UTTERLY ECSTATIC about. I just gotta get Runil to stop rambling about his past connection with Florentius that I headcanon-ed for shits and giggles. And Viggy is, well. Being Viggy. Admittedly I started writing something about Yotul and Harkon and . . . may be persuaded to share separately if there's interest :3c ANYWAY. YOU CAME HERE TO SEE ANGY VIGGY, AND I AM HERE TO DELIVER <3

“Don’t mind him, he’s one of my acolytes here,” Runil told her. He took a seat at his desk, then sighed wistfully. “Florentius Baenius . . . It’s been so long that I was surprised to hear from him. We met during the Great War, you see. He healed my wounds the best he could, despite being my enemy. It was a mercy I did not deserve. But even the best healers can’t reverse damage done beneath the skin.”

He looked at Vigdis again, the true colour of his eyes clouded by a milky white film. She stared back, annoyed at his rambling and impatient for him to get to the point. He seemed to sense this and continued.

“I had drafted a response with Kust’s assistance, but with Lavinia’s sudden passing . . . . I haven’t had the time to give it to a courier.” The priest leaned on the desk, his fingers interlaced loosely. “I suppose it matters little now, since you’re here.” His wispy white brows knitted together and exaggerated the wrinkles that creased his pallid features. “Unfortunately, I cannot help you find the man you seek. It is true that many necromancers are drawn to Falkreath, thanks to the cemetery and Arkay’s influence here—but as the grave tender, and given my own history, I don’t normally interact with them. Not on very friendly terms, at least.” He frowned as his shoulders sagged. “I apologise, but there is nothing I can do to help you.”

Vigdis exhaled slowly through her mouth, her breath tinged with smoke.

Another dead end.

Anger frothed anew like a brewing storm in her chest. She tightened her grip on her sword; her nails dug deep into her palm. She should’ve known better than to think that she would finally hunt down the man that murdered her father after years of coming to the same fruitless conclusion again, and again, and again.

It was nothing but a waste of her fucking time.

please tell me you'd be sweet with Runil, I love him so much 🥺

I would, I almost put him on the list but the more I thought about it a quiet life in Falkreath tending to the dead with care sounds nice <3 And as Arkay isn't found in the Altmeri pantheon this adds a bit of intrigue into how he came into the faith, especally with the unused game data regarding a quest with him, which you can find on uesp. Plus his prophetic dreams about the return of dragons. He's got a fair amount going on. Old mer loving hours right here <3

Here's some food for thought:

Runil's cut content reveals he was part of the Thalmor, and was "chosen" to join due to his prowess with destruction magic.

He never went into details if he was allowed to say "no".

And it's also implied that he's hiding from the Thalmor after he served in the Great War. Once you're in, you're in for life.

There have also been mention of "reeducation" on Summerset if an Altmer doesn't walk the Altmer walk.

This makes me wonder if some members of the Thalmor are there unwillingly.

I guess it’s obvious at this point that Florentius Baenius is my favourite TESV NPC but while we’re on the topic...literally every priest of Arkay in this game has something going for them.

- Runil (Falkreath): Ex-thalmor just trying to make amends he needs a hug i love him also has prophetic dreams about you bc why the fuck not

- Andurs (Whiterun): Looney-tunes level of incompetence (babes, not only did you lose your amulet but there are literal skeletons roaming the hall of the dead isn’t it entirely your job to prevent that??)

- Alessandra (Riften): At least 3 different strains of daddy issues and in serious need of a holiday. Also apparently unaware of a grave being used as a highway to the sewers beneath her...

- Verulus (Markarth): Apparently quite tasty™

- Helgird (Windhelm): "Well, she's dead. But I guess that's not unusual, at least not for somebody in here. I mean, someone who's not me, that is.” what a Queen 10/10 job-appropriate sense of humour. 

- Styrr (Solitude): Would likely be the most stable of the lot if it weren’t for, ya know, an undead Wolf Queen trying to come back from the grave. Someone get this man a coffee he is tIRED.

I think Arkay has a type and that type is Not Quite Right

Favorite Skyrim elves and why?

It is, where I’m from.

I’d say my favorite Skyrim elves would be:

-Sondas Drenim, you can meet him in Darkwater crossing, he’s the sweet dark elf miner who cares about his fellow miners and he also babysits a little girl

-Ondolmar, the Thalmor justiciar in Markarth

-Ancano, Thalmor advisor at the college in Winterhold (even tho I wanna kick his ass so bad every time I see him breathing)

-Faendal, Wood elf in riverwood

-Runil, Altmer in Falkreath, former Thalmor

-Teldryn Sero, dark elf mercenary you can hire in Raven rock, I like his comments he makes about the different places you’d visit

-Neloth, master wizard of house Telvanni, I just really like when he says “now where did I put it… OH YEAH-“ crazy bag of bones

-Gelebor, I just wanna hold him aight?!?, he’s so nice- and always so happy to see you when you return- ughh the things I’d do to this mer- I mean what?-

Now if I had to live in Skyrim, I’d probably be eating a lot of soups and growing my own food, I like the farming lifestyle that comes with the Hearthfire DLC, plus I like gardening

And as for Sorcery, I really have no preference as long as it’s not like destroying my community, where I live I don’t think many people even care, a close friend of mine is even a descendent of an old Coven.
