RNBW Volume 3b returns! Here’s a catchup on the story so far!
Time Period: Months after the Vytal Festival incident, around the same time as RWBY Vol 4, and before RWBY Vol 5.
Team RNBW has been split up since their teacher, Ms Loca Star, was murdered. Here’s what has happened to them in the following months:
Rusty: Feeling responsible for Loca’s death, she moved back to her home village in Vale to return to woodcutting with her family. She doesn’t talk much these days, and though she wishes to contact her former team mates, Atlas’ embargo and the CCT collapse have removed that option.
Nappa: Thanks to Roman Torchwick and the Black Queen virus compromising Atlas’ military technology, Ironwood had to find a scapegoat to blame in order to rebuild the Atlesian trust in their cybersecurity. As such, he framed Nappa, who was the one who purged the virus from Vale’s CCT, for tampering with it, and had her incarcerated. Nappa still feels like the people responsible for Vytal are coming to Atlas soon- and if her hometown, family, and friends are going to be safe, they’ll need her help.
Brandeis: With all the teams fractured in the Vytal Festival, Brandeis was one of the hunters re-shuffled into new teams. She was made leader of Team BISC, in charge of new students Icter Goldman and Sandra O’Dile, as well as Ciel Soleil while Penny Polendina is being repaired in secret. As someone who used to rely a lot on Rusty for leadership, being a leader herself now isn’t great for Brandeis’ anxiety, especially since Atlas is now ordering Hunters to deter civil unrest in its populous. Nevertheless, she’s going to try her best.
William: For helping Ironwood and several others evacuate Vale safely during the Vytal Festival incident, William and Team CAPA were fast-tracked into a special reconnaissance training program, similar to the Ace Ops. They have been sent to William’s hometown in Vacuo as part of an outreach program, and also to investigate suspicious White Fang activity going on in the area.
You can continue following the story on @teamrnbw ! Also coming soon are Semblance Showcases for new characters, sketches and concept art for key scenes in upcoming episodes, and a full timeline of the events in RWBY and RNBW lined up against each other, as well as a special post about “My correct and incorrect predictions about RWBY Vol 4-8 back in 2015″!
* This series was originally put on hiatus due to the state of politics in the world. And while those issues haven’t been fixed yet, several plot points in RNBW have been developed and changed to make sure characters are more accountable and aware of their actions. The overall plot remains the same, and I hope I didn’t make any mistakes in writing.
**By the time RNBW Vol 3 and RWBY Vol 8 end, both stories should hopefully be at the same point, timeline-wise. Being completely honest, there are no current plans for a RNBW Vol 4. College work means I am focusing more on my other OC series, and nowadays RWBY itself has way fewer infuriating plotholes that I would have fun explaining in a side series like RNBW, thankfully.
