Jaune vs Grimm's
Creakings could work well as Grimm.
Let's be Silver-Eyed Warriors targeted by Salem with mama
Context for one of my depressing RWBY AU's I've titled the Grimm-prisonment AU. Going off one of my personal Summer Rose theories, Summer is experimented on by Salem and turned into a Grimm hybrid like the Hound. HOWEVER, somehow she's still sapient and retains her humanity/memories, so she can consciously interact with her family even as a beast (similar to Warwick/Vander from S2 of Arcane)
Ruby on the other hand was imprisoned by Salem for a while (voluntarily turned herself in to save her friends), and brutally tortured and broken. Fortunately Ruby is rescued before SHE can become another Grimm hybrid, but not without the cost of one of her silver eyes, classic eyepatch Ruby AU.
So now Ruby's just got this big Grimm bodyguard who's also her mom.
I feel like the Grimm that were clearly Salem’s creations, rather than the Brother’s, are the most horrific and the most human in their horror.
Like, Beowolves, Ursai, Nevermores, those are just. Animals with some armor and a palette swap. Scary if they get in your face and try to maul you, but I don’t think they really linger in your mind unless they did something. At least as a viewer, I didn’t have much of a reaction to them.
On the other hand…The Chill? The Apathy? The Hound? The idea of being trapped in your own body, made helpless and maybe even being puppeted about to harm others is horrifying. Even the Seer Grimm is kind of haunting to me, just because of its proportions and tentacles and the idea it could watch you and listen to you for as long as it likes before attacking.
In some ways, the Grimm invented by Salem show how twisted she’s become…but they also show how she’s still in touch with her humanity. Still remembers being stripped of freedom and bodily autonomy and your very self as being one of the worst possible pains.
It’s almost poetic, how much humanity shows up in her most monstrous creations.
When designing the Apathy Grimm, I made a lot of early exploration sketches to see how it could end up looking. A lot of playing around and design-tuning. We decided on four variants in the end!
Thought this would be fun to share since I always love seeing other artists posting their initial sketches / ideas
Anybody remember this game?
I got it on Switch a couple of months ago when it was on sale, and just remembered that I had it recently. I like it, it's a lot of fun. Plus I appreciate that not only can you play as any character from Team RWBY or Team JNPR right off the bat, but there's like four outfits for each of them. That you can just access! You want to see Yang beat up Grimm in her pajamas? Go for it. You want to watch Weiss kill things in power armor? Sure thing. They even have the Beacon dance outfits. Plus all of the characters have really personalized skills and movesets, and can pull off some really interesting combos. My only complaint is that no one can double jump, which they feel like they should be able to. Especially Weiss, who can jump off a sigil for one of her attacks. Just like. Aim that up, girl. Besides that though, it's a delightful game, I'm having a great time
