New Jersey Democratic Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who has strongly opposed the Democrats’ impeachment efforts, is leaving the Democratic Party and becoming a member of the Republican Party after meeting with President Donald Trump. “Van Drew’s congressional and campaign staff were informed he was planning to switch parties on Saturday, according to Democratic sources,” Politico […]
Anyone surprised? Will there be more? Was this what Nancy Pelosi had in mind when she chose this most divisive path?
The author quotes Sean Davis of the Federalist:
Federalist co-founder Sean Davis tweeted: “Nancy Pelosi isn’t just hemorrhaging votes for her impeachment gambit, she’s now facing wholesale defections from the Democrat party because of its impeachment hysteria.”
Things are not looking good for the Legacy of Nancy Pelosi’s leadership.
“Military COVID infected: 118,984,” Biden said while reading off of a note card. “Military COVID deaths: 6,114.”
As of today, a total of seven members of the U.S. Military have died from the coronavirus while the total number of infected is 40,026.
A look at photos that were available from the event shows the note card that Biden was reading, which stated: “MI COVID Infected: 118,984. MI COVID Deaths: 6,814.”
Biden—speaking in Michigan—apparently did not understand that “MI” was an abbreviation for the state that he was in, not an abbreviation for “Military.”
The Biden campaign later confirmed that this is what happened, claiming that he “misspoke,” according to Fox News.
“Vice President Biden has the utmost respect for the men and women of the armed services and believes it’s the sacred duty of our country to properly equip them, look after their families when they’re deployed, and care for them when they return,” Biden’s Deputy Rapid Response Director Michael Gwin said in a statement to Fox News. “To honor their service, the Vice President carries with him each day a card detailing the number of Americans who have given their lives for our country in Iraq and Afghanistan, and frequently cites that number to recognize their sacrifice.”
It’s worth noting that the card that Biden was reading off of did mention the number of U.S. serviceman who had been killed in Afghanistan, but the card spelled it out and did not use an abbreviation, writing: “# US Troops Died in Iraq/Afghanistan: 6,922. # US Troops Died in Iraq/Afghanistan: 53,188.”
Next, the card spelled out the number of “US COVID Infected” and “US COVID Deaths” before listing off the number of cases and deaths in Michigan.
Honestly, the fact that military stats were spelled out on the same card, and he still mistook the standard ‘MI’ Michigan abbreviation for military, is more concerning to me than if the card had only had the Michigan numbers on it.
A new poll released this week found that the overwhelming majority of Americans oppose ending the filibuster and oppose packing the Supreme Court.
The Wall Street Journal added:
Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker finds consistently strong opposition among independents to such plans for structural changes, and concludes that moderate and unaffiliated voters did not vote for Joe Biden in 2020 “to turn the government upside-down” or “remake America.” Rather, they were hoping he would bring calm and perhaps “less bickering” to Washington, he adds. …
If Senate Democrats choose to make such radical changes despite widespread popular opposition, the new survey suggests they can expect a political reckoning in 2022. Independents saying they would be less likely to vote to re-elect their senators if they “voted to remove the filibuster rule and pack the Supreme Court” outnumber those saying they would be more likely by a more than 2-to-1 margin.
Mason-Dixon has a well-earned reputation for producing among the most accurate political polls.
“The U.S. government has concluded that Iran was behind a series of threatening emails arriving this week in the inboxes of Democratic voters,” The Washington Post reported. “The emails claimed to be from the Proud Boys, a far-right group supportive of President Trump, but appeared instead to be a deceptive campaign making use of a vulnerability in the organization’s online network.”
At a press conference, Ratcliffe said that intelligence officials have discovered that Iran and Russia have obtained “some voter registration information” and that officials have “already seen Iran sending spoofed emails designed to intimidate voters, incite social unrest, and damage President Trump.”
“You may have seen some reporting on this in the last 24 hours or you may have even been one of the recipients of those emails,” Ratcliffe said. “Additionally, Iran is distributing other content to include a video that implies that individuals could cast fraudulent ballots, even from overseas. This video and any claims about such allegedly fraudulent ballots are not true. These actions are desperate attempts by desperate adversaries. Even if the adversaries pursue further attempts to intimidate or attempt to undermine voter confidence, know that our election systems are resilient and you can be confident your votes are secure.”
Graham accuses Foxx — who eventually recused herself from the case — of acting inappropriately when she tried to talk Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson into handing the Smollett investigation over to the FBI.
Kasky admitted that when he attacked Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) during CNN's town hall event that it was his intent to "embarrass Rubio and that was my biggest flaw." Kasky said he would redo the conversation that he had with Rubio and that he has plans to meet with him next month where he'll bring up how he spoke to him during the town hall event.
"This summer when March For Our Lives went on the summer tour that we embarked on, I met that person in Texas who's got that semi-automatic weapon because that's how they like to protect their family," Kasky continued. "I met the 50-some-odd-percent of woman who are pro-life, even though I thought it was preposterous that a woman could be pro-life and not pro-choice at the time. I learned that a lot of our issues politically come from a lack of understanding of other perspectives and also the fact that so often young conservatives and young liberals will go into debate, like I said earlier, trying to beat the other one as opposed to come to an agreement."
Kasky noted that he left March for Our Lives because "they didn't really need my involvement and while I could have helped, it wasn't crucial."
The activist added that he plans to start a new podcast called "Cameron Knows Nothing," where he will host discussions with people on both sides of the political spectrum on current political issues.
Gotta give the kid credit for his lesson in humility, and that he’s been public about it rather than just disappearing from public life and pretending it never happened.
