got to s3 e1 Mercenary finally

I just love how Athelstan is so uninterested in Ecbert and Judith when they go back to Wessex, he literally only wants Ragnar. he even turns away quickly once he assumes she's finished talking the first time.

That episode of Wheel of Time was probably the best, most well structured, and paced episode we’ve had so far. I have so many thoughts about it that have no link nor structure but need to be put down.

Spoilers for ep1 ahead, I don’t think there’s any book spoilers.

Josha was incredible as ‘Mad Rand’ in Egwene’s accepted test, it’s all in the eyes and god did he pull it off. I can’t wait to see him stretch his acting muscles and wow us in the way I know he can. He’s been teasing us for the last 2 seasons and I can’t wait to see him unleashed.

Dónal Finn was already incredible in the small amount we got of him in s2 - yes I’m bitter, he just wasn’t there enough for my liking - and in 1 episode he managed to carry so many different emotions and make sure it didn’t feel jarring.

I liked the Elayne/Avi stuff, it makes sense from the books, and their chemistry is chemistrying. Also they aren’t serious or anything, it’s just good roots being placed - big fan.

Lan and Nynaeve are so sweet and I love their awareness and care of each other.

I loved the use of the old tongue and how it was comedic and yet also slightly sinister, interested to see how that progresses.

I am enjoying Egwene becoming more wary of Rand, it feels in character and appropriate for her. I also like her distance from the tower, she serves the light not the tower.

Just Dónal Finn again, I can’t stop thinking about how good he is, he truly steals most scenes he is in, and has an ability to carry any vibe he needs to.
