servant of two masters makes me fucking insane bc it shows us 1. just how frazzled arthur gets when merlin is missing and in danger (screaming his name in anguish when they're separated, unable to rest until merlin is found, sending a billion knights out into the woods to search for this lowly servant he has a 'soft spot' for, no matter how futile the search seems), 2. the sheer fucking comedy of merlin being a terrible terrible assassin (he's adorable he's amusing I need to eat him whole), and 3. the blatant reinforcement that no matter how skilled or efficient a servant. arthur won't fucking want him he only wants MERLIN (bye george this is all bc you make jokes about brass. goodbye). when merlin and arthur grin at each other at the end of the ep "if he's so good why don't you just give him my job then" (we both know you won't) it kills me it kills me so bad. god. start to end this ep didn't stop giving.
it's also not lost on me how the one person whom merlin actually confesses his desire to kill arthur to (leon) just. doesn't fucking believe him. like yeah merlin has just said he'd like to kill the king but honestly we all know he'd NEVER he's just being funny! good joke buddy! the crossbow is just for laughs I'm sure nice one merlin. everyone has complete faith in merlin to keep arthur safe and care for him no matter how he's treated + merlin is 100% the only person in all of camelot who can even MAKE king-killing jokes and have no one bat an eye. his immunity is insane. I love them
