5 things the S8 snippet confirmed:
1. Abandon all delusions that Sansa will braid Dani’s effing hair, if anything she will throw chewing gum into it....
2. When Sansa Stark politely says *exactly* what you want to hear, but looks at you like that: RUN
3. Sansa is not only a player in the great game now, she is the player
4. Judging by Dani’s smug expression, she actually believes that Winterfell is hers and will act accordingly
5. It’s officially the war of the three queens and no mistaking it
【Voltron S8 Related (Maybe?)】Surpriseeeeeeee!
I don't want people who love Theon because he die for the stark. I want people who love Theon because he is Theon.
Why no ones is talking about Honerva as the leader of the alteans????
I MEAN
SHE’S ALMOST A QUEEN
Summary of how VLD ended
So it turned out Lotor was actually really dead and Haggar had found the Altean colony and convinced them to help her fight Voltron.
Each of the Altean soldiers had one of those floaty creatures from the rift inside them that let Honerva communicate w then telepathically and control them
When Allura talks to an Altean man they rescued, he coughs up the rift creature (or “entity” as they call it) and they contain it.
Later Honerva manipulates Allura’s mind and makes her see hallucinations that tell her to free the entity and use it herself
After absorbing the entity Allura has a psychic connection with Honerva
The team decides Allura will use this connection to help them find Honerva so they can fight her
Only Lance and Coran object to putting her at risk
They form Voltron which gives all the paladins a psychic link to Honerva, and they go into her mind. This makes no sense in context either.
Turns out Honerva gets her powers from stealing souls and the souls of the former paladins are trapped in her mind
They break them free
They go into Honerva’s memories and find Zarkon, but before he turned evil. Allura uses her psychic powers to show Zarkon all the pain he caused, and he apologizes. Then they need to form voltron to fight a robot protecting one of Honerva’s memories. I skipped the fight cuz it was boring.
Zarkon is “””redeemed””” because he helps save the universe or something
And apparently he wasn’t evil until he got corrupted in the rift so he and Honerva were good ppl deep down see?
They see Honerva’s greatest desire: a happy life with her loving family, Zarkon and Lotor.
Honerva is using Lotor’s reality-traversing ship to find a reality where she can live her housewife dream
She finds a reality where Altea and Daibazaal are both intact and Allura’s parents are still alive but Honerva died.
Zarkon is happy to see her again but Lotor (who is a child) is scared of her “you’re not my mom!”
Honerva decides if she can’t have her dream she will destroy every reality in existence
Blah blah fight scene I skipped
Eventually Honerva comes around and repents for what she has done “[my son] deserved better. Better than I could give.”
Allura says, “Lotor May have been misguided, but ultimately he wanted to preserve life. (Honor him and help us fix this)”
Allura says “I can change the Quintessence in your vessel. Your son showed me how to change it from a destructive force to a life giving force”
For some reason this requires Allura dying
There’s a cruel, tear jerking scene where Allura says goodbye to the paladins. They all cry except Keith. After she kisses Lance, Altean markings appear on his cheeks. I cried like a bitch.
She walks into the light with Honerva. The other paladins are also there, as well as Zarkon and Lotor. They seem to be at peace.
Look at their faces. This is no triumph of good over evil. Honerva has won. Allura has lost.
Nauseating.
One Year Later:
We see a glimpse of each of the paladins’ (who are no longer paladins) lives. They all seem to have moved on to their own things and are happy. Except Lance, who is now a humble farmer, but “spreads Allura’s message of love” or whatever.
Lance talks about Allura to a group of alien children, „she taught us there was good in everyone.“
„Even Emperor Zarkon?“ a child asks. „Yes, even Zarkon“ Lance laughs.
And I think you‘ve all seen what happens in the epilogue. The worst part is how sad Lance looks.
He is never going to recover.
Long story short, this season was depressing and unsatisfying. The villains were “redeemed” which was unconvincing and made the plot of the whole series meaningless. Allura‘s death was unnecessary and tragic. Fuck Voltron.
A tiny S8e1 Fiction
I know there are concerns about this scene, but I liked it nonetheless.
Klance au
After the war ends, Lance walks away.
He leaves Blue and Red, leaves Allura's memory, locks the horror and the pain away in a box as far down as he can.
He runs to a far off planet that not even he knew the name of. He opens a school.
He taught himself the native language and now he teaches kids, teens and even the adults, how to read and write their own language.
The planet's inhabitants weren't touched by the war. Don't know of voltron, or the Galra, or Alteans.
He's safe and protected and a valued member of the planet.
Years pass, maybe centuries. Lance doesn't know. He's watched generations come and go and sometimes he wonders if his aging is normal for Alteans.
He doesn't know and eventually, he stops caring. His age doesn't matter. The paladins are dead and everyone he ever knew is gone.
...
Lance thinks that maybe he shouldnt have been so hopeful of a clean get away.
Its been centuries, coming close to 900 years, when he thinks he sees him again.
The black hair, forever a mullet, walks around a corner and Lance is running. Sprinting to see if he's right.
He's not, he never is anymore and he thinks he might be losing it.
A glimpse of stark white hair, maybe its Orange, sometimes brown. Its never who he thinks it is and he knows it won't ever be.
But he is.
He's staying at a small planet that Voltron liberated during one of their first missions together, resting, recalling the memories and the adventures because he can bare it now.
Can bare to remember glasses and gadgets that only ever saved him. Can remember the comforting arms and the smell of freshly baked goods.
He can bare to remember her smile and her lips. Can remember short white hair and a scar from war. He can remember the stretch of time before Keith came back to them. Before he returned from the Blade.
He can remember them without feeling his heart rip out of his chest. Without his throat closing up. He was getting better.
And then he wasnt.
Because Keith was here. He was alive. Breathing.
He was flesh and blood in front of Lance. Expression open and vulnerable in a way Lance can't remember seeing.
He can feel his throat closing, gasping for breath, until he's not. His breath is pulled back into his lungs and he's pulled back into Keith's arms.
Lance.
And then he's sobbing. Clutching Keith tighter, praying he's real.
