If I have to hear about that goddamn meadow one more time
the scene where jesper grabs kaz’s arm when trying to stop him and question him about why they’re going into pekka’s turf is just — wonderful — because you see kaz look down the MINUTE jesper touches his arm, and then you see his face with the anger/bit of fear, warning jesper to stop touching him now. and not a word was said, but it directly brings in kaz’s dislike of human touch and I just want to thank freddy a million times for putting it in there
Probably unpopular opinion: Alina is a simplistic character in construction. I like her, even maybe love her, but I cannot deny this. Her greatest two character traits relate to 1. her love and attraction for Mal, respectively Kirigan and 2. the way she interacts with her powers and destiny (she's intimidated by it, even irritated in the begining, but she clearly enjoys them once she starts to understand her powers properly). I really, really hope they are going to make her more complex next season, but for now it's undeniable these are the two aspects of her character that have been most developed. Tbh, I find the idea of the writers ditching any of them (either her romantic life or her relationship with the Grisha part of her) distasteful. I've seen people campining for one over the other, but I cannot agree. For me, it would feel like the ultimate betrayal of Alina's character.
ETA: The writers are fully included in this statement. And if they make Alina give up one thing over the other, it means they Do. Not. Care. About. Alina. At. All.
(If you like malina and darklina have you considered: malarklina? 👀)
It's super cool to see someone both in the AoS and SaB fandom! Glad you're enjoying the show :)
Oh my gosh, hiii, and what a freaking awesome ask to get!! 😍😍😍😍 It's fab to be in both of those fandoms, honestly - they both just gladden my heart so very much, it's the actual best and I am SO happy to be here!!
Now onto your question: Malarklina (though, come on, Malarklina, surely we can do better than that? What about Darkmalina? Or even Malinaleksander?) ANYWAY. Yes, that - wow, gosh, I'd be an utter liar if I said I hadn't considered it, lollz 🤣 Kirigan just has so much chemistry, with, like, everyone. Our SAB gc calls him "General Tall Dark and Handsome" and "Chemistry in a Cloak" 🤣🤣🤣😍
But like, seriously, he and Mal could totally have had this furious, hot hate-sex type of thing going in that first confrontation! Just... saying ;)
It'd have to be a pretty heavy AU, though, because I'm afraid that Kirigan's far less than moral actions with Alina and the collar rather put me off shipping them in any form whatsoever :/ I mean, I saw him being evil coming from a mile away, but it turned out to be even worse than I'd expected, and now my brain is just like #nope. He be a villain, and not the good, funny, lovable type like the Crows.
So yeah, that's a yes in "I definitely thought about it and it'd be way hot" but a "no in anything past that bc my bbys deserve better than dark, evil and admittedly attractive arseholes who violate their autonomy" from me.
:D and thank you so much for the ask, Ri! Ilyyyyysm for indulging my new truest love, this fantastic show 🥰🤗
bought a Jonathan Toews jersey today for $80 instead of the usual $160! it’s going to be three sizes too big because it’s a mens XL but that’s what they had in stock. i’m super excited for it to get here
i dont know about yall but im constantly going in between the extremes of doing/being too much and not enough. this is frustrating. wheres my goldilocks???
Hi can you please explain why alina is a snake/lion and kirigan is a badger/bird? I've been trying to read up to understand the sortings but I dont think I get Kirigans - I thought he would have been a snake?
@the-phoenix-heart and me had a hard time figuring out Kirigan. The hardest part is to try and see who's the real him and what is merely the mask of the great Grisha General that he crefully crafted.
I think we are inclined to see him as a Snake because he's the villain. But honestly, he doesn't have the ~vibe Snakes -and especially Snake Bird-have. It's hard to explain, but for me, certain sortings have certain vibes.
I think we can all agree Kirigan is a Loyalist primary. The show is actually very Loyalist heavy, IMO. But I would say he's more a Badger than a Snake because he truly believes what he does is for the good of all Grisha. I think a burned Snake who only wanted power who'd simply murdered the king and took power instead of expanding the Fold and threatening all those countries about how the war with Ravka is over. If he was a Snake who was starting to unburn for Alina, I doubt he would have used her the way he did at the end of the season.
Also, in thr flashbacks, he was a revolutionary who was fighting for his people. I didn't get the feeling he was doing it only for himself or for his wife. Kirigan probably burned not when his wife died, but when he created the Fold. The accidental mass murder he committed twisted him into a very dark Badger.
Last but not least, the guy did build the Second Army which makes me think it was his way to make a community again, to belong again.
But this is just me, if you wanna see him as a Snake, go for it. Ngl, I am not 100% sure myself since we have more seasons left where we'll discover new things about his character that might change my opinion on him.
As for Alina as a Snake Lion: the girl only cares about Mal (Snake primary) and seems to prefer the direct approach to everything (Lion secondary).
