Ok the reason why the fan reboot is not the same as fanart or fanfiction or any other form of fanmade content is because while it may be inspired by the show, unlike usual fan content, it is not showing any form of support or love for said show. In fact, if we’re being objective here, it’s literally hijacking copyrighted material and shitting on the creative choices of the current writers, artists and producers. Its not a “hey here are some fun ideas for alternative routes and character designs!!” It’s more like “here’s what we thought was fucking wrong with ur show and with immense entitlement and arrogance we’re here to show you how to do it right, mofos”.

Lotor

So... I finally watched Voltron season 5, and it was stellar!!!!

I frickin love Lotor!!! (And I ship Lotura, but I’m not talking about that right now).

However, when I then went to try and find fanfiction about him, I was severely disappointed. I was expecting tons of, sad!Lotor, maybe dealing with the fact that Haggar is his mom, or having to tell one of the paladins about what Zarkon was like as a father, or Lotor risking his life for the other paladins, or even Lotor grieving Narti’s death.

I found (almost) nothing.

Most of it was evil!Lotor, and the stuff that wasn’t was Lotor/Lance or Lotor/Keith, that was written pre-season 5, and Lotor is either abusive or happy-go lucky.

I found one, only one, fanfiction that had Lotor finding out that Haggar was his mother. And that one had some serious Lotor/Lance undertones, that I really wasn’t onboard with.

I found one, and again only one, fanfiction of Lotor comforting Allura (and it was actually really sweet, and not at all creepy).

*Sigh* I guess I’ll have to be the one to write Lotor angst/hurt/comfort fics.
