Is it bad that I've gone through all 110 pages of langst on AO3?

voltron prompt ??

- lance and the Crew™ go out to space for some ass kicking space robot fighting amirite 

 - they're fighting and keith and lance are underground to infiltrate a secret galra base on a planet 

- keith is like "wait let's explode this thing" and holds up dynamite and lance is like 'i think the heck not?? that's a terrible idea' 

- keith sighs as lance explains it'd probably kill them and not to mention shiro could be inside the secret base or innocent prisoners 

 - keith leaves the explosives behind a crate and they go to find the control to take out the power 

- they take out the power and they decide to split up between two prison wings to free the prisoners 

- lance opens all the cells as the power is out, instructing them to go to the opposite wing and find the red paladin, as he'll take them to the surface where allura is waiting with the castle 

- lance finishes getting the prisoners from his wing evacuated and keith comes back to get lance 

 - a wild haggar appears! 

- and holding keith's dynamite no less (that idiot you don't leave unused explosives in the enemy's base with no intent of using them) 

- haggar has a match in her other hand so lance doesn't think and shoots it out of her hand, which was a bAD IDEA 

- keith starts to run and lance follows, but haggar had dropped the explosives on the still lit match on the floor, and it's only a matter of seconds until the thing explodes 

- haggar grabs lance's neck and pulls him back, now lance is choking so he can't cry out to keith 

- haggar attempts to put a shield up but it's pretty rushed (the bomb is about to go off so??) so it barely protects the two of them, they're not dead but almost 

- BOOM it explodes, keith is not far enough and is knocked out and in bad shape 

- pidge and hunk and trying to talk to lance and keith, to find that keith isn't responding and lance's helmet isn't even online so it's presumably broken 

- pidge goes down to find keith and lance and finds a huge room on fire basically, with keith knocked out 

- she puts keith in her lion and looks for lance but no one is there in the hallway besides keith 

 - she hurries to the castle where allura is waiting with the rescued prisoners, and hunk is fighting off a small fleet single handedly 

 - they get hunk back inside the castle and they open a wormhole to quickly get away: they did what they came to do and they had to leave because a) keith needed serious medical attention b) lance?? where is he?? and c) there's more galra ships and the ship (once again) is in bad condition (isn't it always lmao) 

- they rush keith to a healing pod 

- while keith is healing coran, allura, pidge and hunk are worrying about lance and keith and shiro: not only is shiro missing but lance is too?? what will they do without their sharp shooter??? is he dead???? and keith is out of action while he's healing (he doesn't come out for almost a week) and pidge and hunk can't single handedly fight zarkon and the galra 

 - because lance flew into the base with keith and the red lion the blue lion is safe inside the castle 

 - red lion followed pidge's lion when she went to the castle haha to be continues i guess?? 

rip sorry for my spelling, punctuation, lack of using capitals, weird sentence structuring EVERYTHING i mean i wrote this under a blanket in the rain on some bleachers so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chapter 1

  Allura's voice was loud against the silence of the room. She gave Lance the feeling of comfort when she talked since, to him, she always knew how to make sure they all understood the mission they were going on in only a few Vargas.

  It was a simple mission that Lotor gave them instructions for.  He was being surprisingly helpful. Despite personal reasons, the paladins and members of team Voltron had no reason to distrust him, so they listened. So far, with Lotor's help, the team had ridden over 200 planets of Galra rule, which was quite a lot.    

What the team and Lotor didn't know was that Haggar had eyes everywhere. She had her eyes on a very specific paladin who rode in the color red. She had a devious plan for him as well. She was going to break the Voltron team down if it was the last thing she would do.  

The plan she had for the Red Paladin was quite easily done. It was undoing of it that would cause the team grief. She had a spell that was once used on Altea for anyone who disturbed its peace and serenity. Altea had no reason to have sad or unwanted people in their kingdom, so they instead would get rid of them. It was quite a cruel way of dying though. Some Alteans fought against the spell, but alas meet the same fate as the unwanted.

  Any Altean with the spell cast upon them would die slowly, their mind poisoning their whole being. Cuts and bruises would slowly trickle the Alteans skin with every dark or saddened thought. No Altean ever survived the spell, though rumors did appear of people saying they had. None the less, the spell was eventually out-ruled to be too dangerous once King Alfor stepped up to be King. Many, including Haggar, still knew the spell nonetheless.   That's what she planned to use on the Red Paladin. Her plan would only come into effect shortly, and she would watch the former Blue Paladin fall in a blood-cold manner. She knew that the Red Paladin had self-esteem issues and homesickness. It was seen easily if you looked between the lines.

  Her plan would come into effect once the team was on the located Galra fleet docking ship. It was a bigger ship that was used for shipments of quintessence. Lotor said that the quintessence, on this ship, was a purple liquid instead of its normal golden color and that it was dangerous. Understanding that this was, indeed, a dangerous mission, they decided that staying together would cause a scene, so they all were to split up on the ship.

  Lance, understanding that the plan was going to fail at some point, kept quiet.

  She understands more than you do, Lance. This will be fine. Nothing will go wrong… right…?

He repeated that in his head, along with making sure he understood the mission they were going on. Besides those two thoughts, he was thinking about finally seeing Keith again. Keith was going on the mission with them! Lance was a bit too overjoyed at that news, but he was genuinely happy to have his space ranger partner back. Keith made Lance happy, even when they fought, or yelled, or hurt each other. Lance just wanted Keith happy, which is why he made himself except Keith needed to be with the Blades… But Lance still missed the hot-headed mullet.

  As Allura started to finish explaining the plan, she let the paladins have free time for a Varga or two. Lance decided he was going to train since he didn’t want to mess up on this mission. He would hate for an entire mission to fail because of something stupid he did.   Lance would be the first to admit that he was not the smartest on the team, or the strongest, or anything a real paladin of Voltron was. But he would at least try to earn his place on the team. Keith showed him that he mattered enough to be on this team, and he wouldn’t let the team down. He will be the ear they can talk to. He will be the sharpshooter the universe needs. He will strive to be a great paladin of Voltron. He will be here with the Voltron team, and they would save the universe. No matter what.

  Lance put on his armor and headed to the training room, only to find a familiar sight he thought he would never see again.

  “Keith! Can I join you in your training?!” Lance yelled to Keith.

  Keith yelled to turn off the simulation and looked at Lance.  

“Since when do you train in your free time, loverboy?” Keith teased. “I thought you would have been pampering yourself in your bathroom.”

 “Sorry to disappoint, but my face is already so pretty, I don’t need to pamper it 24/7, Mullet.” Lance teased back. “Unlike a certain someone.”

  “Take that back you jerk!”

  “Not unless you let me give you a makeover after this mission!” Lance chimed back. He had a smile on his face as he walked towards the middle area of the room. “Or would you prefer that if you beat me, I’ll apologize?” Keith smiled, understanding that was a challenge.   “You're on!” Keith wouldn’t say no to a challenge.

  Lance and Keith soared by level after level, one-upping each other anyway they could. After a good Varga and a half, Lance’s head started to hurt from moving so much. He decided he could get through at least four more levels, but Keith insisted they take a break. Keith noticed that Lance had improved a lot, but that he was still lacking in hand-to-hand combat.

  “Lance, take a break. We will have to leave soon and you shouldn’t waste energy before the mission.” Stated Keith. “You did good, also. You really have improved for the time I’ve been gone. What have you been doing?” Keith questioned, a bit nervous about such a quick change. Don’t get Keith wrong, he was proud of Lance for improving so much, but Keith was only gone for maybe a month! So much improvement in a month would have almost been impossible unless…

 “I’ve been training a lot recently, and since Lotor keeps giving us places to go, I’ve had a good amount of practice,” Lance stated, seeming to avoid taking the topic further.

  “Hey Lance, I actually had a question for you-”   “PALADINS AND BLADE MEMBERS. WE HAVE REACHED NEAR THE DOCKING SHIP. GET TO YOUR LIONS. MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!” Allura’s voice on the coms always seemed to defecate. Lance moved towards the training room door and looked back towards Keith.

  “You coming or not, mullet?!” Lance yelled a sense of urgency in his tone.

  “I’m coming!” Keith yelled, following after Lance as they ran to the Red Lions hanger.

  Haggar only watched from afar. She could see through Keith’s eyes since he was part Galra. She saw her prey and was ready to pounce and eat it slowly.
