Sadegh Hedayat (1903-1951)
Sadegh Hedayat, La Chouette aveugle, José Corti, 1953

The 8th official #review of "Soundtrack To The Blind Owl" album published on German 'African Paper' webzine! #soundtracktotheblindowl is an imaginary soundtrack produced by #XERXESTHEDARK for the most famous Iranian/ Persian Language novella in history: The Blind Owl by #SadeghHedayat which was translated to 72 different languages and always faced various censorships during the past 95 years due to it's dark and macabre story. Many believed that #DavidLynch's masterpiece "#LostHighway" heavily inspired by Blind Owl's #surrealism and mysterious characters. Surely, the album is not an easy listening sonic experience, it's bleakly heavy and disturbing for most people but those who are familiar with #experimental #noise / #industrial / #dronemetal/ #ambientblack genres certainly enjoy this horrible abyss and will float in between #nothingness and deeply rich frequecies that can help you contemplate and even meditate! Back to the review, it's the 2nd #German review written for this album. You can find a Google translated edition if you swipe left! And you can read the full article here: http://africanpaper.com/2021/10/09/xerxes-the-dark-soundtrack-to-the-blind-owl/ Special thanks to @african_paper and other webzines that supported this artistic-cultural effort that bridges between modern #Iranian #literature and Iranian #contemporary experimental music . Although I produced this album all by myself from A to Z , from composing, recording, mixing, mastering and producing to artwork designing and publishing, I tried my best to make a perfect tribute to Hedayat with my low budget and full heart; but receiving various positive reviews from Netherlands, Germany, Egypt and USA show that it's a successful release out side of Xerxes The Dark's musical realms. Don't hesitate and grab the album, October is the perfect time for listening to STTBL album: www.xerxesthedark.bandcamp.com #africanpaper #moregodimmer #morego_dimmer #zālrecords #blindowl #novella #DIMSTUDIOTEHRAN #press #darkart #IranianNoise #iraniandarkambient #iraniancontemporaryart #iraniancontemporaryartist https://www.instagram.com/p/CU0BdRsIhBy/?utm_medium=tumblr
Special thanks to @cairoscene & @scenenoise magazines for publishing a precious #review of #soundtracktotheblindowl album! 📰Read the full article: https://cairoscene.com/Noise/Macabre-of-Iranian-Book-The-Blind-Owl-Inspires-Xerxes-the-Dark-Album https://scenenoise.com/New-Music/Macabre-of-Iranian-Book-The-Blind-Owl-Inspires-Xerxes-the-Dark-Album 🦉Listen/buy/support: Xerxesthedark.bandcamp.com 📃Quote: The artist makes it easy to obtain such a picture through the intensely unnerving effect induced by the edged industrialism of the album’s harsh riffs and the punishing shifts in modulations that disturb any sense of bearings. A comfortably distinct and dissimilar sound, Soundtrack to the Blind Owl resembles its inspiration in its deliberately unpleasant form of surrealism and the terrifying portrayal of a personal dystopia. Flowing as one warped sound without clear borders between its six songs, the album’s blend of assertive distortions over ambience gives it an all-occupying character of invasiveness, trapping listeners within its seemingly unending abyss. But Xerxes The Dark never promised to deliver an easy listen, and while it demands committed listening, the album as a rendition fulfills its intention and conveys a dark-mirrored image of disfigurement. #sadeghhedayat #xerxesthedark #blindowl #cairoscene #morego_dimmer #newnoise #zālrecords #DIMSTUDIOTEHRAN #IranianNoise #iraniandarkambient #ambientblack #ambientnoise #dronemetal #doommetal #dronedoom #DarkAmbientMusic #dark_ambient #deathindustrial #powernoise #powerelectronics #Industrial #Experimental #noise #drone #dronemusic #harshnoise #دارک_امبینت #صادق_هدایت https://www.instagram.com/p/CUXcyVgF-7j/?utm_medium=tumblr
A big thanks goes to @gonzocircus magazine and Mr. Patsker Omaer Beguin for reviewing my most recent album "Soundtrack to the Blind Owl". Here we provided a google translated version of the Review, Hope you enjoy this! Source: Gonzo Circus Magazine [Dutch], Issue 164, Jul-August 2021, p.67. www.gonzocircus.com _______________________________________________________________________ Morego Dimmer (real name Mohamadreza G.) is an Iranian dark ambient pioneer who likes to color outside the lines with his project XERXES THE DARK . He has been producing dark sound tissues and drones for about fifteen years, in which experimentation is not shunned. Dimmer's ominous sounds have been released on several dark ambient labels, including several collaborations with #Alphaxone and Ugasanie on the acclaimed American @cryochamberlabel of #SimonHeath ( #AtriumCarceri). 'Soundtrack To The Blind Owl' does not belong in the dark ambient street that we are used to from Xerxes The Dark. Dimmer ventures on new paths and explores its limits with six raspy guitar soundscapes full of darkness. The inspiration was taken from the surreal and melancholic book 'The Blind Owl' (بوف کور) by the Iranian writer and intellectual #SadeghHedayat . The guitar soundscapes are disorienting and describe a dystopian decay accompanied by extreme frustrations and obsessions. The songs are made up of several noise-soaked guitar layers, adding a lot of echo and eerie background noises. 'Soundtrack To The Blind Owl' is a mysterious Persian torture chamber filled with a range of industrial horror sounds. This work can be compared to a meeting between @sunnofficial and @thisquietarmy , in which Xerxes takes the reins as the obscure conductor. This is unusual but very acceptable psychedelic dark noise from underground Tehran. #XerxesTheDark #gonzocircus #darkambient #Review #alphaxone #ugasanie #moregodimmer #press #magazine #zālrecords #Morego_Dimmer #cryochamberlabel #drone #SUNNO #thisquietarmy #dronemetal #dronedoom #Droneambient #blindowl #literature #culture #kültür https://www.instagram.com/p/CR0ybgOJ6B9/?utm_medium=tumblr
