Weirdly, I want Val and Carpenter to meet for the endgame, which obviously will end in tears (when does this pod not) but also can't happen because Carpenter and Faulkner need to meet again at the end too.

But there is something, something about Val needing to be heard for the lies to be made real, and Faulkner not hearing anything as it is said but rather hearing it through his faith, and Carpenter hearing everything but finding none of it matters,

And us hearing all of it. Like Val's lies, it's all real because we listen to the story, episode after episode.

Is this the first time Val breaks the 4th wall and talks to the listeners? Anyway, we have a first indication of what Val can't do. Unclear yet if it's specifically genie-rules-can't-change-the-fate-of-the-dead or mechanically significant 'Val has no power if there's no one to hear her commands'
