Château Leoville Barton, appellation Saint Julien. 1988 (94-95/100) . Very deep, dark fruits, violets, mushrooms and forest floor. Texture is very elegant with silky tannins. Impressive wine because great to drink now but you can always keep it. The best issue could be 2025-30 . That is an amazing point of best Bordeaux wines. You can taste great wines older than you ! . But Bordeaux is not only good when the wine is old, we also have great wines drinkable now with a very good value price! You can find a lot of them on my blog xl-vins ! Enjoy ! 2003 Château Branaire-Ducru is in an awkward phase...when I first poured this, it was hard to believe this was the same lush #wine I had tasted many years prior. It was incredibly backward and the fruit was in hiding. After many hours of air, the wine started emerging from its shell and provided a little more aroma and flavor. It did have the tell tale St. Julien cassis, pencil shavings and cigar box, but it never fully emerged from hiding. With bottles like this I find it hard to know if it was the particular bottle that is the issue or if other bottles would show the same profile. Outro belíssimo Bordeaux degustado neste começo de ano: “Amiral de Beychevelle 2008”. . O excelente segundo vinho do (fabuloso) Château Beychevelle, na AOC Saint Julian – margem esquerda de Bordeaux. Corte de 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc e 4% Petit Verdot, passa 12 meses em barricas de carvalho francês (30% delas novas). . Um vinho jovem e com alto potencial de guarda que deve ganhar complexidade de aromas nos próximos anos e tornar-se fantástico! Definitivamente eu aguardaria mais uns 5-6 anos para bebe-lo novamente. . Na taça, cor rubi de média intensidade e aromas de fruta vermelha madura, leve vegetal, couro e chocolate. Na boca, tem corpo médio, alta acidez e taninos intensos e de altíssima qualidade, já mostrando elegância mas ainda faltando um pouco de maciez. Tem longa persistência e bastante fruta no palato. . 2003 Château Lagrange (St. Julien) is a bit of a conundrum. It's got tons of fruit, but it still shows a lot of vanilla (oak) when first poured, which I find obtrusive. After sitting opened in the cellar, the oak has faded some, but the plush, rich cassis fruit is still in a vanilla-shrouded state...it is better on day 2, but not what I think it should be. There is also some chocolate covered cherry flavor in here, but my personal preference is for the 2002 over the 2003.
