Summary: You pretend to forget about your boyfriend's eighteenth birthday. He punishes you with kisses.
Genre: Established AU, fluff
Word count: <1k
Sakuya had been acting strange all night.
He was lying on his stomach on the couch, playing Nintendo Switch like every night. He was in a baggy T-shirt and Nike Pros, his hair fluffy from the shower, his face bare. Only, his dark eyes kept fixing on you when he thought you weren’t looking.
You knew what your boyfriend wanted. It was his 18th birthday, but you had pretended to ‘forget’ so you could surprise him tonight. It was driving him mad.
Finally, he sat up on the couch, rigid. “You know…” he said, twisting the fabric of his T-shirt, “It’s my birthday today.”
“Oh really?” You looked up from your phone. “Happy birthday babe.”
Sakuya’s mouth fell open. He ran his hands through his hair, the muscle shaking from the force. You could practically see him working it out in his mind. To forget his birthday was human, but to prepare nothing: that was unforgiveable!
“You- you really-” he stuttered, his face turning dark red.
Eventually, you couldn’t take his pain anymore.
You rushed to the kitchen and pulled out the enormous three-tiered pink cake you’d bought, lit the candle, and walked in.
“Happy Birthday…” you whispered, watching the soft golden glow wash over his face.
Sakuya’s eyes widened. His brows crinkled together. You suddenly realised you might have left it too long. Your boyfriend was surprisingly sensitive. What if he was really hurt?
“Put that down,” Sakuya said, his voice choked.
“But Saku-”
“Put it down,” Sakuya said again, his face unreadable. “Sit here.”
You placed the cake carefully on the table, your heart jumping.
As soon as you sat on the couch, Sakuya was all over you. He jumped on you, squeezing your shoulders back on the couch. His face dark red, he pummeled you with his fists.
“I- can’t-believe-you-would-do-that!” he groaned, hitting your shoulders. His teeth were bared in a half joyful, half flustered grin. “Naughty! Bad girlfriend!”
You laughed. “Wasn’t it a great suprise?”
He was straddling you, his strong thighs locking you tight so you had no hope of escape. “No! I! Hate! Surprises!” he yelled, though he was grinning now.
“Alright, alright,” you said, wincing. “Let me go now.” You were already feeling a little sore. Sakuya had started working out lately, and he wasn’t exactly aware of his own strength.
Sakuya let go of your cheeks, which he was pinching hard. You sighed in relief, stroking the hot skin.
Sakuya stared at you, hard, as if assessing how hurt you looked. He rested his hands on the couch on either side of your head, caging you in.
Then, to your surprise, he dipped down and kissed you. His lips locked onto your bruised mouth, kissing you so gently you knew he was apologising for his outburst. His cool fingers brushed your cheek.
When he pulled back, he narrowed his eyes at you till they were two slits of liquid black. “Sorry about that,” he said, shaking his fringe out of his eyes. “I was - surprised. But you better have got me a present after all this.”
You laughed, slapping him lightly on the cheek so he winced. “I'll give you your present, birthday boy. Not that you deserve it.”
Suddenly chastised, Sakuya scratched the back of his head and sat politely on the couch as you got up and brought out the tiny pink earrings you'd bought.
Sakuya could get a little carried away at times, but he was still a loving boyfriend and the perfect birthday boy.

“Ooh ooh, yes!” Sakuya said, squeezing his fists together and jumping up and down in excitement.
“It’s a funny idea, right?” you said, rifling through your make up bag.
You and Sakuya played a married couple in your high school comedy musical. You decided to make it look like your characters had just had a crazy makeout session.
Sakuya eyed the mirror as he pulled his hair into messy tufts. He undid the first button of his shirt.
“Is one enough?” he said.
“Definitely two.”
Sakuya opened another button then nodded in satisfaction.
“Okay, here,” you said. “Smear this on your mouth.”
You opened your purple lipstick and handed it to Sakuya. He frowned in the mirror, then gingerly dabbed it in the corner of his mouth.
“No, you have to wipe it. Like-”
You squeezed your thumb to the corner of Sakuya’s mouth. His eyelashes fluttered awkwardly, his black eyes darting around. The space behind the curtain suddenly felt too hot, too dark.
“Sorry,” you whispered.
“No, that’s perfect,” Sakuya said. He grabbed the lipstick again. “And my character has to have, like, kiss marks all over him.”
“Yes!” you said, laughing.
“But how are we going to…” Sakuya said. He bit his plump lips. He turned the lipstick around in his fingers.
“Wait, yeah,” you said, confused. Time had almost run out.
“Well, I can’t kiss myself,” Sakuya said, handing you the lipstick with a lopsided grin.
“Oh,” you said, your voice shaky. “You want… me to do it.”
Ever since the first audition, you and Sakuya had got on like a house on fire. He would do the chicken dance when the director wasn’t looking, and say his lines wrong to make them sound dirty, making you laugh till you cried.
Sakuya thought you were just friends, but you had a secret crush on him. He had no idea how painful this would be.
Sakuya bent down so his face was at your level, pointing at his cheek.
You applied the lipstick to your lips with shaking hands.
“Here, quick,” he said, smiling.
Your heart racing, you leaned in and pressed a kiss to his soft jaw.
“Okay, finish off with this one,” Sakuya said, holding his shirt open to reveal his collarbone.
You froze. Your throat was dry with nervousness. Sakuya’s eyes were bright, calm, focused on the stage. To him, this meant nothing. To you, it was terrifyingly intimate.
Gripping Sakuya’s shoulders, you leaned in and lightly kissed the base of his neck. His pulse throbbed under the hard muscle. You tasted his skin, warm and sweaty.
“Okay, perfect,” Sakuya said, running to the edge of the curtain.
You just stood there, dizzy, unable to believe what you’d just done to your crush.
“Y/n, it’s our line!” Sakuya called.
When you still didn’t move, he ran over to you and grabbed your hand. His strong, comforting grip brought you back to reality.
“Come on, wifey,” Sakuya said, grinning as he pulled you on stage.
This was going to be one hell of a scene.

"What if we don't make it out of here alive?" Sakuya said, voice trembling.
You sighed. "Don't say things like that, someone will come for us sooner or later."
Tonight was supposed to be your high school's prom, but on the way there, you'd managed to get trapped in the elevator together.
"I knew we should have taken the stairs," Sakuya groaned. He was sitting in the far corner, arms wrapped around his knees.
"I'm just sad we're going to miss prom," you whispered. It sounded silly now, but you'd hoped that tonight would be the night that you'd finally work up the courage to tell Sakuya that you liked him.
"Piece of crap cheapskate school, can't even fix the damn lifts." Sakuya's face was scrunched up.
Suddenly, the lights blew out. You both gasped. The only light remaining was from the emergency sign in the corner. It cast an eerie green glow.
You let out a shaky breath. That's when you noticed something was wrong with Sakuya.
He had buried his head in his knees, and was trembling so much it looked like he was vibrating.
"Saku," you called. "Are you alright?"
Sakuya's breaths came out in pants. You realised he was hyperventilating. You were afraid, but something about seeing Sakuya so vulnerable gave you the power to be brave.
You touched his shoulder gently.
"Look at me," you said.
Sakuya lifted his head. His wobbly black eyes met yours.
You sat down cross legged in front of him.
"Hold my hands," you said.
Sakuya hesitated. He eyed you curiously.
Then, he reached out and put both of his hands in yours. His hands were surprisingly soft, and your heart jumped at his touch.
"Breathe with me," you said, looking into his eyes. "In and out, okay?"
Sakuya nodded. He squeezed your hands tight. You guided him through deep breathing, and with each exhale, he was trembling less.
Suddenly, the lift jolted, making your stomach woop.
"Aah!" You screamed. You wrapped your arms around Sakuya, clutching him close to your chest.
The lift stopped shaking. Your eyes met. From this close, you could see that they had specks of brown. You could feel the warmth radiating from his body.
Sakuya's gaze flickered down to your lips.
Your breath caught in your throat.
"Saku... I-I like you." You started to feel dizzy.
Sakuya gulped. "Y/n, I-"
Shit. This was where he'd rip your heart out and chuck it down the elevator chute. You couldn't look at him.
"I like you, too."
You couldn't believe your ears. "Really?" You said, mouth open.
Sakuya laughed, face lighting up. "Yes, really."
You nodded. Suddenly, you had no idea what to do.
As if he could read your mind, Sakuya reached forwards and touched the side of your face. He leaned in.
"I'm going to kiss you now," he said.
You stood on your tiptoes. Sakuya leaned down and put his mouth on yours. He kissed you slowly, with care. His lips were chapped and tasted like pineapple. You saw stars.
You pulled him tighter towards you, sliding your fingers up to twist in his shirt. Sakuya moaned softly, low in his throat.
Just then, the lift doors squealed open. Two workmen dressed in high vis were standing on the other side of the doors.
You and Sakuya jumped apart.
"Playtime's over, kids," one said, sniggering. "Move your hook up somewhere else."
Heat flooded your cheeks. Sakuya grasped your hand, giving you strength.
“Bring it on.”

Summary: Sakuya chases you into the pool, desperate to hide a big secret. "Please, Y/n. Don’t look at the phone."
Genre: Fluff, Friends to Lovers, dumb!Sakuya
Word Count: 2k
“Give it here, Sakuya!”
You frantically tried to grasp the iPhone out of Sakuya's large, pale hands.
“No way, stay back!” Sakuya half growled, half yelled. His voice had caught in his throat, and his words had come out all garbled.
Sakuya held his long arm up in the air, holding the phone out your reach. His pink hair was standing up in tufts and his face was flushed.
Earlier today, after you’d finished swimming practice, you’d walked in on Sakuya and Ryo looking at something on his phone. You could have sworn you’d heard your name. Ryo had scattered before you could catch him, but Sakuya wasn’t as fast.
“Please, Sakuya, just tell me what you were looking at!”
You stretched your hand out as far as you could, but Sakuya was too tall. When you were kids, you were always the taller one, but in the last year, he’d shot up, and now he was a foot taller than you.
You held your hands out in surrender.
“Fine, I give up.”
You sat down on the bench, avoiding sitting on a pair of damp Speedos. After you’d caught Sakuya, he’d run into the boy’s swimming changing rooms, thinking you wouldn’t dare follow him. But he was wrong, and here you were.
Sakuya slumped down on the bench beside you. He put his phone on his lap, panting.
“I swear I wasn’t looking at anything bad, Y/n, you sh-”
But before Sakuya could finish his sentence, you reached into his lap and snatched the phone away.
You jumped back up and sprinted through the door that said, “POOL THIS WAY.”
Seconds later, you were at the poolside. It was almost nighttime and the main ceiling lights were off. The only light was coming from the spotlights within the water itself. They bathed the room in an eerie blue glow.
You clutched the phone in your hand.
Just then, Sakuya burst out from the door behind you. His face, which was normally cute and round, had a wild expression.
“Give me my phone back, Y/n. Please, I'm begging you.”
“Not till you tell me what you were doing on it first! It was something to do with me, wasn’t it?”
Sakuya groaned.
You took a step back, closer to the water.
“It’s nothing to do with you, I swear.” Suddenly, Sakuya lurched forward, his hand brushing the sleeve of your hoodie.
You dodged out of his grasp. Then you turned around, and went into the only place you knew he couldn't follow. The water.
You jumped into the pool. The water flooded your jeans, the heavy denim clinging to your legs. You could feel the ice cold water slink up your body, making you shiver. Luckily, it was the shallow end, and the water only came up to your waist.
You waded into the middle of the pool.
Sakuya was watching you from the edge. Both of his hands gripped his hair.
“Y/n, come back!” He bellowed, his voice bouncing around the pool.
You waved his phone in the air.
“Tell me the passcode or I'm dropping it in the water!”
Sakuya cursed.
“I'm serious, Saku! Or, you know, you could just be honest with me. How long have we known each other? I thought we were friends.”
Sakuya yanked down the zipper of his hoodie and pulled it off his frame. He kicked off his shoes.
“I'm getting in!” Sakuya said. He dipped one foot into the water, then yelped, and jumped back to safety.
You suppressed a laugh. You couldn’t believe the lengths that Sakuya was going to right now. Whatever he was doing on his phone must have been really bad.
“Fine,” Sakuya said, his black eyes wide. “I was watching porn, okay? Really filthy stuff. Like… like monsters doing it and shit. That's why I didn't want you to see. Now, please, come back.”
You scoffed. “I don’t believe you for a second. You know, Sion says that-”
“What,” Sakuya spat. “What does he say?”
Sakuya didn’t like your boyfriend Sion one bit. Ever since you started dating him, Sakuya had become a lot more moody. He was no longer the cute loving boy you’d grown up with.
You used to spend every day after school at Sakuya’s house. The two of you would make bracelets together and play Dance Dance Revolution with his sisters. It was heaven.
But then, you met Sion. He was one of the popular boys in your year, and you didn’t realise he even knew your name. Sion filled his water bottle with vodka and wore eyeliner like a rockstar. He was the coolest boy you’d ever met. So, when he pushed you against the wall and kissed you that one night after the winter dance, you’d fallen hard.
“Sion says that you’re like, in love with me or something. Is that what you and Ryo were texting about?”
Sakuya shook his head violently. “Please, Y/n. Don’t look at the phone. Trust me, just this once.”
The truth was, you’d suspected that Sakuya might have a crush on you for a while. You knew how painful unrequited love could be, so you thought you’d do the kindest thing and ignore it. But maybe that wasn’t the right idea.
“Just tell me your passcode, Saku, or the phone gets it.” You’d been in the water for a while now, and your teeth were starting to chatter.
You let the phone slip from your fingers, then you caught it again, millimetres from the water.
“Fucking hell, fine.” Sakuya gulped. “It’s 1234.”
“Really?” You said, rolling your eyes. You wiped your wet fingers on your hoodie and typed in the passcode.
Sakuya’s phone unlocked and opened onto a Whatsapp group chat. You recognised some of the names of the people in the chat: Riku, Yushi, Ryo, Jaehee, and lots of other boys’ names you didn’t recognise. Even your boyfriend Sion was there, as well as Sakuya. You scrolled up through many messages that mostly consisted of laughing emojis.
You scrolled up till you saw a picture. When you saw what it was, you nearly dropped the phone in shock.
It was a picture of you.
A naked picture, to be exact. You were sitting on your bed, leaning forwards and winking suggestively. Your hair was pushed behind your ears, and you were topless. The picture cut off just below your exposed breasts.
You felt sick. You had sent this picture to Sion a few weeks back. Sion must have shared it to this chat.
“Are those tits or mosquito bites?” One message read.
“I always knew Y/N was a slut 😂,” said another.
Your throat closed up. Then you read a message that hurt you the most. It was from Sion.
“Guys, I told you I’d manage to get the pic, and in only 2 months as well! @Tokunoyushi you owe me fifty. Pay up!”
Your fingers were trembling. You couldn't believe what you were reading.
You put your hand to your face and realised your cheeks were wet.
You heard a splash.
You looked to the side of the pool. It was Sakuya, wading towards you. His hands were balled up into fists and his teeth were clenched.
“Shit. Fuck. Balls.” Sakuya swore with every sodden step he took towards you.
He reached you quickly, his long legs taking him fast through the water.
“Saku, you can't swim!” You cried, teeth chattering.
Sakuya wrapped his arms around you and held you tightly to his chest.
You rested your head on his damp T shirt, feeling his warm, familiar scent.
“I'm so sorry, Y/n,” Sakuya whispered. He patted your hair, his large hand engulfed your entire head.
The coil in your chest tightened to a breaking point. You burst into tears.
“I'm so stupid,” you said, between sobs. “I thought he liked me!”
Sakuya shook his head. “You're not stupid, Y/n, it's not your fault. I just got added to that chat today, I had no idea about it. Sion’s a fucking jerk. I swear to god I'm gonna… I'm gonna…”
Sakuya fell silent when he realised that you weren’t listening. He held you, pool water lapping at your waists, and let you cry into his T shirt.
When you felt like you'd cried out your entire heart, you pulled out of Sakuya's arms.
You looked up into his eyes. Sakuya had this strange expression on his face. It was gentle and mature. For the first time, Sakuya looked older than his seventeen years. He looked… handsome.
Sakuya held your gaze, his dark eyes unflinching and honest.
It was almost too intimate, to be looked at like that.
The tension pulsed between you. Suddenly you became aware that you were a man and a woman, both soaking wet and completely alone.
“Y/n, I-” Sakuya began.
“Oh my god, your phone!” You looked down at the water and saw a black square wobbling at the bottom of the pool.
“I'm so sorry, Sakuya. I'll ask my parents for some money. Get you a new one.”
Sakuya shrugged. “It's fine, don't worry about it.”
Ten minutes later, you and Sakuya were sitting on the poolside seats, towels wrapped around your heads. You were sharing a flask of hot chocolate that your mum had packed for your practice.
“Thanks, for trying to protect me,” you said.
Redness crept up his neck.
“You… you like me, don't you?” You asked, your voice small.
Sakuya gulped. “I mean… I'd never… l-”
You leant forwards and placed a kiss on Sakuya's cheek, shutting him up. His cheek was cold, and surprisingly soft.
“I think I like you, too, Saku.”
Sakuya tried to hide a smile, but he couldn't keep it off his face for very long.
“I just need some time, Sakuya. You understand, right?”
Sakuya reached forwards and held your hand. The feeling of Sakuya's fingers touching yours was more delightful than everything you'd done with Sion in the last three months.
“I've got time,” Sakuya said, smiling. “Ages.”
