A thought has occurred to me and I have the urge to inflict it upon the rest of you—
AU where Ghost got rescued from his wanderings through the desert post-Roba by a fire department before being brought to a hospital.
Said fire department had been doing drafting operations training (ie. pumping water out of a lake or river into the truck in order to replace water used from the apparatus’s tank). Their presence being the only reason Ghost didn’t wander for another few days / weeks.
Nobody on that crew ever thinks they’ll see the poor guy they rescued again.
Until one of the younger members joins the military and ends up on base with the 141. Said recruit manages an unholy miracle, and accurately clocks Ghost as the dude they helped rescue from the desert.
Now Ghost has a new shadow in the form of a particularly enthusiastic recruit, and cannot for the like of him figure out why said recruit keeps getting into fistfights at the merest hunt of Ghost’s honor being besmirched.
